I denne weekend sprang festen tjenestegørende i Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, og folk fra nært og fjernt er troppet op for at fejre Groundhog Day! Denne skøre, men elskede tradition giver folk chancen for en kort pause fra den kolde vinter og til at se, hvad Punxsutawney Phil, den berømte jordegern, har at sige om vejret. "Når du bor her, bliver det din yndlingsferie!" udtaler en entusiastisk lokal, som sætter pris på alt det sjove - at se Phil komme ud af sit hus og se om han ser sin skygge. Vi har alle brug for at fejre noget, ikke?

Ingen fest uden at finde ud af, hvor længe vi må holde ud med kulden! Punxsutawney Phil kom igen i år frem i dagens lys og, som traditionen foreskriver, så han sin skygge. Det handler om magien ved Groundhog Day, men også om samfundet og de fantastiske minder, det bringer med sig. Ikke desto mindre kan fans i dag samtidig stream live fra Gobblers Knob, mens de nyder portioner af rohonk og bølger til deres yndlingsværter.

Så næste gang du står overfor en grå vinterdag, kan du tænke på Punxsutawney Phil og den glade atmosfære fra hans fest. Og som et ekstra sjovt faktum, vidste du, at Groundhog Day blev berømt gennem filmen med Bill Murray, hvor han lever samme dag igen og igen? Det siger vidst alt om, hvor sjovt det kan være - bare spørg en jordegern! Overvej også, at den første Groundhog Day blev fejret tilbage i 1887! Hvem kunne have tænkt sig, at en lille sød furry fyr kunne samle så mange mennesker og skabe så mange smarts og latter?
