Valencia, en perle ved Middelhavet, står i øjeblikket overfor en katastrofe uden lige, da kraftige regnskyl har forvandlet gaderne til mudrede floder. Mindst 51 mennesker har mistet livet som følge af de voldsomme oversvømmelser, der er indtruffet i denne historiske regnperiode. I takt med at det kolde vejr blander sig med det varme klima, oplever regionen en såkaldt DANA, hvilket fører til uventede og livsfarlige regnskyl, som folk aldrig har set før. De lokalbefolkningens liv og ejendom er blevet betydeligt påvirket, da de kæmper for at navigere i denne chokerende virkelighed.
De ramte områder har tiltrukket sig massiv mediernes opmærksomhed, ikke mindst fordi det tragiske tab af liv og de efterfølgende økonomiske konsekvenser er uoverskuelige. Selvom Valencia er blevet konfronteret med denne tragiske hændelse, vil byen aldrig miste sin charme. Salsa og spanske tapas er bestemt ikke blevet skyllet væk af regnen! Det lokale marked, Valencia Summit Holiday Market, finder stadig sted i midten af november, og folk samles for at finde glæde og festligheder inde i klubbens vægge. Det viser i sandhed, at selv i de sværeste tider, er 'fest stemningen' en vigtig del af den spanske kultur.
På den lyse side er det værd at nævne, at Valencia, til trods for sin nylige tragiske historie, fortsat er en af Spaniens mest besøgende byer. Dens historiske bydel, med sine tætte gader og unikke arkitektur, kan altid bringe smil på børns ansigt - selv når vejret er uvenligt. Målretted og optimistiske, valencianerne vil snart genopbygge deres elskede by, nu med lidt ekstra kærlighed og styrke - for i Valencia lærer vi aldrig at give op!
