Tropisk Storm Helene har efterhånden vakt opmærksomhed i hele landet, da den frit svømmer mod Florida og Mexico med forventninger om kraftigt regnvejr og heftige vindstød. I takt med at stormen nærmer sig, opfordres alle til at forberede sig på det værste. Nu er det tid til at grave nødproviant frem og lade dine batterier til lommelygten få et ordentligt lazarbatteri! Det er også en god idé at have en NOAA-alarmradio i hjemmet for at holde sig opdateret med de seneste varsler.
Skoler i Bulloch County holder øje med stormen, som ifølge seneste opdateringer fra National Weather Service ser ud til at skifte retning mod vest, hvilket betyder, at mange i området skal forberede sig på muligheden for nedbør og vind. Der er allerede blevet indført advarsler og overvågning af mulige tornadoer i regionen, som gør, at alle bør have deres øjne på vejret. Og lad os ikke glemme City of Tampa: De lukker hjemmekontoret i takt med stormens ankomst!
Her i Danmark vil det måske virke som en fjern realitet, men bliv ikke for tryg i sokkerne – selv stormen Helene kan fortsætte med at udvikle sig! Helene er blevet opgraderet til orkanstatus, og der er nu over 32 millioner amerikanere, der står over for oversvømmelsesadvarsler. Det er ikke fyldt med god stemning – og det er heller ikke tid til at pakke badehåndklædet, for ifølge meteorologerne kan stormen bringe livstruende stormflod og besværliggjorte transportforhold.
