I en uforklarlig og dramatisk hændelse er det rapporteret, at eksplosionsagtige pager, som tilhører medlemmer af den libanesiske militantgruppe Hezbollah, har resulteret i døden af ni personer og flere tusinde skader i hele Libanon. Medieskildringer angiver, at pagere eksploderede næsten samtidig i forskellige regioner i landet, hvilket har rejst alarm om en potentielt alvorlig militær eskalering mellem Hezbollah og Israel.
