Det er ikke hver dag, at man hører om skæbner, der involverer både Elvis Presley og mulige svindelnumre, men en kvinde fra Missouri, Lisa Jeanine Findley, har været i mediernes søgelys for netop det. Findley, 53 år, fra Kimberling City, blev arresteret fredag morgen under federal anklage for at have orkestreret et kompliceret svindelsystem rettet mod Elvis Presleys familie. Ifølge anklagerne forsøgte hun at stjæle familiens ejerskabsretter til den ikoniske ejendom, Graceland, som Elvis kaldte sit hjem. Wow, én ting er at være Elvis-fan, men at ville overtage hans hjem? Det er skam noget, der ville få selv Blue Suede Shoes til at krølle!
Anklagerne inkluderer alvorlige anklager om postbedrageri og forværret identitetstyveri, og det ser ud til, at Findley ikke er ny i spillet. Hun har en lang historie med mindre svindelnumre. Det er næsten, som om hun har en liste med briller i forskellige farver, som hun putter på, afhængig af hvilken identitet hun skal påtage sig! Det hele blev dog levende, da hun angiveligt forsøgte at sælge Graceland - som om det er noget, man bare kan sætte til salg på Den Blå Avis!
Findleys planer om at tage kontrol over den ikoniske ejendom er blevet stoppet af myndighederne, men hele sagen rejser spørgsmålet: hvor langt vil folk gå for penge og berømmelse? Og hvordan påvirker det efterkommerne til den kongelige rock-'n'-roll? I en tid, hvor berømthed og rigdom kan synes som en ride på en rutschebane, er denne historie kun én af mange, der viser den mørkke side ved berømmelse. Findley risikerer nu en minimumstraffo på to år i fængsel – en tid, hvor hun kan tænke over sine valg, iført en stribet dragt i stedet for de glamorøse klæder, hun umuligt en dag forestillede sig!
