Ok, så hvad sker der, når den store forventning til sejlsport ved Paris 2024 møder den ubarmhjertige hede og en fuldstændig vindstille? Jo, det resulterer i aflyste medaljerace og svedige atleter, der forhåbentlig har husket at bruge solcreme! I takt med at de små, hvide sejl både ILCA 6 og ILCA 7 svømmede omkring på det åbne vand, måtte mange deltagere se sig slået proppet under træning og ventetid i stedet for at konkurrere. Denne første dramatiske medalje dag viste sig at være en test af tålmodighed mere end færdigheder i sejlsport.
Men frygt ikke! Selvom medaljeracet for mændenes skiff blev udskudt, var der stadig en bunke talentfulde sejlere, der nægtede at lade manglende vind knække deres ånd. For holdmedlemmer som New Zealands Jo Aleh og Molly Meech, der troede de var færdige, kom der et overraskende comeback, da deres medaljechancer i stedet blev sendt udfordrede vindens slugter om at sikre den ambitiøse duo endnu en chance for ære.
