Seine-floden sætter en stopper for det olympiske triathlon! Men frygt ej, de bliver svømmet på onsdag!
I et drama, der ville gøre enhver sportsentusiast nervøs, er det meningen, at mændenes triathlon ved de olympiske lege i Paris skulle finde sted tirsdag. Men hvad der skulle have været en storslået begivenhed, er blevet udsat på grund af problemer med vandkvaliteten i den berømte Seine-flod. Arrangørerne og World Triathlon har måttet tage den svære beslutning om at udsætte begivenheden, da forureningsniveauerne i floden desværre bare ikke kunne accepteres. Det lyder måske ikke så skræmmende, men for triatleter, der skal svømme, cykle og løbe, er rent vand afgørende - det er trods alt ikke sjovt at dele en svømmepøl med en klump skum!
Det er ikke kun de olympiske atleter, der er berørt - hele Paris har rystet på hovedet ad denne uheldige situation. Forureningen i Seine-floden har været et problem i mange år, og trods investeringer på 1,5 milliarder dollars for at rydde op er der stadig udfordringer, som face hele landet. Når man tænker på, hvor mange billeder der er taget af den ikoniske flod, og hvor mange romantiske sejlture, der bliver lavet, er det en skam, at forureningen stadig udgør en risiko.
Men frygt ikke, for både World Triathlon og de ansvarlige for Paris 2024 er optimistiske og har tiltro til, at mændenes og kvindernes triathlon kan afholdes onsdag. Der er allerede planlagt en ny tidsplan, men man kan ikke lade være med at spekulere på, hvordan vejret vil påvirke det - for prøv at forestille dig en olympisk svømmer i regnvejr med kattehår mens de dykker i floden. Heldigvis ser vejrudsigten ud til at være venlig.
Og nu til rækkevidde: Vidste du, at Seine-floden tidligere har været så forurenet, at den har været dødfiskens hjem? Men takket være forskellige initiativer er der rygrad på vejen til at bære friere vand. Mens triatleterne venter på at komme tilbage i vandet, er det måske på tid at tage en tur ved flodbredden og beundre, hvor meget denne skat i Paris har at byde på. Da det kommer til at beskytte miljøet og forbedre vandkvaliteten, er der altid håb – ligesom der er altid plads til sjov i vandet!
