Den 27. juli blev OL i Paris skudt i gang med pomp og pragt, og alle øjne var rettet mod de fantastiske atleter, som skal kæmpe om æren og goldmedaljerne. En af stjernerne, der trådte ind i rampelyset, var Katie Ledecky, som tidligere har vundet guld og nu jagter endnu en medalje i sin quest for en rekord-brydende ottende guldmedalje. For ikke at tale om den amerikanske hjerteknuser Adam Peaty, som med sin optræden i poolen vinder publikums hjerter og entusiasme blandt fansen.
Dagen starter med et brag af en åbningsceremoni vel vidende, at det vil regne, men det stilner ikke folkeslagene, som samles i Paris. Fra svømning til gymnastik og til de mere spændende sportsgrene som skateboarding, er der noget for enhver smag! Og mens Ledecky modtager bronze i 400 meter fri, må hun nu dele rampelyset med den kommende generation, der ser op til hende som en inspiration - alt imens den kinesiske delegation også beviser, at de har mange talenter at byde på.
