Kosovos parlament har nylig vedtaget en lovgivning om at leje fængselsceller til Danmark. Aftalen giver danske myndigheder mulighed for at sende udenlandske dømte fra Danmark til soning i Kosovo, undtagen danske statsborgere. Dette sker som led i et initiativ underskrevet i 2022. Samtidig har Kosovo, med sin muslimske majoritet, igangsat drøftelser om anerkendelse af samekønnet partnerskab. I Pristina deltager bøsse-skuespillere i en teaterforestilling, der latterliggør homofobiske politikere og kæmper for lige rettigheder for LGBT-samfundet. Parlamentet stemte 86-7 uden afholdenhed for aftalen om at udleje 300 fængselsceller i Gjilan til Danmark i 10 år.

Derudover vurderer Kosovo, med spænding over en potentiel tilbagevenden af Trump, at premierminister Albin Kurti har anerkendt udfordringerne ved forhold til en Trump-rådgiver, der forventes at få en national sikkerhedsstilling i en eventuel anden administration. Dette afspejler en bekymring i Europa over en mulig tilbagevenden af Trump. Aftalen om udlejning af fængselsceller fra Kosovo til Danmark blev endeligt ratificeret, en uge efter den blev afvist af kosovariske parlamentsmedlemmer.
