Julian Assange har netop fået tilladelse til at appellere sin udlevering til USA efter afgørelse fra en britisk domstol. USA forsøger at få udleveret WikiLeaks-stifteren for spionage, men Assange har nu fået grønt lys til at appellere denne afgørelse. Domstolen i London har åbnet op for, at Assange kan fremlægge sin argumentation imod udlevering til en retssag i USA.

Mange mennesker deltog i en protest uden for Londons High Court før Assanges udleveringshøring den 20. maj. Julian Assange har vundet sin anmodning om at appellere sin udlevering til USA, og dommere i Storbritannien vil høre hans argumenter imod at blive udleveret til en retssag i USA.

Der er stor spænding omkring den endelige afgørelse, og Reporters Without Borders (RSF) hilser beslutningen velkommen. Det giver WikiLeaks-udgiveren en sidste chance i de britiske retssale for at stoppe udleveringen og udfordre den. USA's Justitsministerium anklagede i 2019 Assange for at overtræde spionageloven med en 18-punkts tiltale.
