Nowruz, også kendt som det persiske nytår, bringer sammenhold og festligheder til forskellige kulturer verden over. I Jindires/Afrin udfolder en retssag om Nowruz-mordet sig og kaster skygger over festlighederne. En ældre kurdisk mand bærer stolt det kurdiske flag under begravelsen af fire kurdisk/syriske civilpersoner, der blev dræbt efter at have tændt Newroz-faklen. Samtidig fejrer Peninsula Friends of the Library, gennem kulturelle arrangementer, den persiske kultur i anledning af Nowruz. Nowruz har sine rødder i den gamle religion Zoroastrisme og observeres på den iranske solhijri-kalender, som falder sammen med

en spændende tid for persisk kultur.

Nowruz skaber en unik forbindelse mellem fortid og nutid, hvor fejringer af liv og overgang markeres på tværs af lande og traditioner. Traditionerne omkring Nowruz viser, hvordan kulturarv og kulturel identitet forbindes på tværs af generationer. Ved at hylde Nowruz hyldes også det kurdisk/syriske fællesskab og dets dybe rødder i historie og kultur. En festdag både for retssystemet og kulturel festlighed!

Spændingen mellem retssagen og den kulturelle festlighed ved Nowruz viser, hvordan forskellige aspekter af samfundet kan forenes og give plads til både retfærdighed og fejring.
