I en duel af taler i Iowa kæmper Donald Trump og præsident Biden om demokratiets fremtid. Mens Biden ser valget som kampen for demokratiet, kalder Trump angriberne fra 6. januar 'J6 gidsler' i et forsøg på at vende stemningen. Republikanske vælgere bliver mere tilgivende over for angrebet og støtter i nogle tilfælde Trump. Samtidig har Trump skabt splittelse i sit eget parti ved at angribe Nikki Haley og tordne tilbage mod Joe Biden. På tredje årsdagen for angrebet på Capitol nævnte Trump knap nok begivenheden under sit rally i Iowa. Han bruger angrebet som valgkampslogo og gentager løgnen om, at angriberne handlede 'fredeligt og patriotisk'. På den store dag for Iowa-caucus opfordrer Trump sine tilhængere til at stemme. Imens vil Højesteret afgøre Trumps kvalifikation til deltagelse i delstaternes valg, og tidligere dommer udtaler, at Trump klart er diskvalificeret ifølge 14. tillæg til forfatningen.
