Barcelona vice president admits contacts with Lionel Messi (Playing for 90)

One of the fantasies of many a Barcelona supporter is the return of their former star Lionel Messi. The Argentine left the Catalan club two years ago after ...

Messi wants to return to Barcelona and the club want him back. The only thing left is for Barcelona to make an offer. Laporta knows he now has an opportunity to right the wrong of two seasons ago. One of the most significant holdups has to do with whether or not Barcelona would be able to accommodate his wages. If there has been a reconciliation, it’s a green light for Barcelona to make a move. He joined PSG and his relationship with the club soured to put it mildly.

Barcelona VP confirms Lionel Messi transfer talks as PSG contract ... (ESPN)

Barcelona VP Rafa Yuste confirmed the club are in contact with Lionel Messi about bringing him back when his contract with PSG expires in June.

"He is one of the best midfielders in the world right now, no doubt. "I don't understand how there can be a campaign against a kid aged 18 who has come through like he has and plays like he does. "Of course I would like him to come back, because of what he represents on a sporting, social and economic level. Reports claimed the midfielder's attitude had caused problems on and off the pitch. I'm the first person who would love to see the best player ever return. And it is normal that fans are excited about a 'Last Dance' like [happened with] Michael Jordan." If he wants to come back, if that's his intention, we will speak about it. It's an issue we're dealing [with], but from that to [him returning] is a big leap. If all the conditions come together and Leo comes back to Barcelona, it would be the perfect ending to a very happy story." If it happens, it will be because destiny takes you back to where you have to go. He's won everything in the game, and it will depend on his happiness. [Barca] president [Joan Laporta] has been with Leo's father, and there is a good relationship.

Photographers Made an Incredible 114-Gigapixel Photo of Barcelona (PetaPixel)

A pair of photographers teamed up to create eight huge panoramas of Barcelona's cityscape, resulting in a 114-gigapixel virtual tour.

There’s so much to see, and it’s much easier to appreciate the work that went into the project by [viewing it on Gigapixel.bg](https://gigapixel.bg/en/gallery/Barcelona/). “For one gigapixel panorama, we had to shoot hundreds, sometimes thousands of images, which were then stitched into the very big panoramas,” George explains. Following the extensive processing workflow, Patov and Aichberger added tags of famous places in Barcelona to their panoramas, making it useful for locals and tourists alike to find landmarks in the city. With photographers in mind, the pair included technical specifications that can be viewed by clicking an “Info” button. During the three days of shooting, Patov and Aichberger captured enough images to create eight massive panoramas from four locations. Beyond the challenges of capturing the source images, gigapixel processing includes its own hurdles.

Club sources confirmed to The Athletic they are planning a press conference where Laporta will take questions about the Negreira case. It aims, in the short term, to destabilise the team. “It’s not possible for there to be any sporting punishment from our side,” Tebas said when news of the scandal broke in February. UEFA is going to make a decision sooner, with an outcome expected before the start of next season. The others — which happen to be the five largest payments, ranging between €84,000 and €120,000 — are labelled as “recording and viewing of international games”. There is no record or suggestion in those papers of payments to active referees or match-fixing. Five months later, he presented a medical document stating he is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer’s, and therefore not in a fit state to make any further comments. In June 2017, they made a payment of €90,000 for recordings and viewings of Spanish national team games. Then we move to the full report from the prosecutors, which was signed and filed on March 10 this year. Fifty-four of the 59 payments were for “counselling on technical videos”. The Catalan club have admitted hiring an “external consultant” who provided reports “related to professional refereeing” but they and the individuals involved all deny any wrongdoing. The prosecutor’s investigation only includes payment records dating back to 2014, as before that the activities weren’t typified as a crime in Spanish law.
