You can check it out just above. [Metallica](http://www.metalinjection.net/tag/metallica) in recent years have been known to toy around with the arrangement of the St. But recently, the band took that new arrangement and played it acoustically at [last year's All Within My Hands benefit concert](https://metalinjection.net/tour-dates/metallica-announce-third-all-within-my-hands-benefit-concert) to also great effect. C'mon, man, don't lie: you can hear it in your head already. The way the song is lyrically structured makes it perfect for hardcore breakdowns—"Projector!

Watch Jason Newsted talk about being bullied by Metallica in this ... (Louder)

In a 1986 interview, Jason Newsted discussed the "sense of abuse" he received from the band and the crew due to being the "new kid on the block"

I looked up to these guys for a long time and it was really kind of unbelievable." Elaborating on the treatment he received, the bass player continues, "So the crew, production, people, everybody, are always just winding me up, but I've come to expect it and learned to kind of deal with it...so it's cool. After watching the dynamics of the relationship between Newsted and drummer Lars Ulrich unfold during the discussion, the interviewer says: "I'm nervously watching you guys; there's like a sense of abuse from Lars. When their new bass player was recruited, he was automatically pigeonholed as the "new kid on the block", and soon became a target for abuse that ran the gamut from light-hearted and juvenile through to humiliating and cruel. In response, Newsted declares, "There's a sense of abuse from everyone. Do they treat you like that because you're the new kid on the block?"

In the six years since the arrival of "Hardwired… So it's cool that it's this breakdown that James and I were able to jam on and create, and then I get to sing on it too." And James and I just started kind of grooving on it. With this particular middle section that came to be, that was really centered around a jam and was very moody, and there's a danger to it; I like how the bass is walking. "For the first time in my life, I get to sing on a METALLICA record and support James [Hetfield, METALLICA frontman]. He added: "I was surprised when I got the call from Greg because I was coming up to play a little bass, but then he said, 'I'm going to have you sing on a couple things, too.' And I was, like, 'Really?' I got a little nervous.

ROBERT TRUJILLO: Why '72 Seasons' one of METALLICA's "more ... (Revolver Magazine)

"It's almost like a rebirth in a lot of ways"

Carlos is pulling it from a place of where he is, and that's the passion he's conveying through his instrument. It's coming from the heart and soul of who we are as individuals and where we were in this whole process, the growth of these songs, and everything. To me, every note that's played is important on this record, and I believe people are going to feel that. There's a lot of impact in the riffs in my mind. Riffs speak a certain language; they signify a certain level of power, whether it's in the groove or the heaviness, the edginess. "I think we all had a pretty good idea that he would be sharing a story, an energy," Trujillo said of the album's direction.

The upcoming Metallica album 72 Seasons features bassist Robert Trujillo on backing vocals for the first time ever, and he's pretty stoked about it.

The vibe and the interesting – I don't know, I wouldn't say the 'quality' in what I had to offer – but the part lends itself to my personality, to my voice, and it sits and slots in really well with the moment and bass breakdown.
