They don't make 'em like that anymore - (Champion)

As a teenager growing up in Griffin, Georgia, Scott Slade would point out the local radio station in a two-story walk-up just off the town square and say, ...

Proceeds to date from those Careathons now exceed $30 million over 23 years, and there is a wing of the center at the Scottish Rite Campus of CHOA named for Slade and the WSB Radio listeners who support the Careathon each year. Bill Crane is political analyst and commentator in metro Atlanta, as well as a columnist for The Champion, DeKalb Free Press and Georgia Trend. In an unexpected meeting, with all the brass on hand, Slade was told some changes were coming to the morning show, as well as the stationโ€™s branding and format. Slade would labor in other stations and markets for nearly a decade before finding a niche in traffic reporting and landing at AM750 WSB Radio in Atlanta. Slade went into the studio, though he had never been in one before, and figured out the equipment sufficiently to produce an aircheck, leaving the same behind for station management. At the age of 15, Slade, looking a bit older with heavy sideburns and a mustache, and freshly in receipt of his broadcasting license (in those days any on-air personality in the industry required a broadcasting license), entered the radio station to inquire if there were any job openings at WGRI Radio, a daytime AM station in his hometown.

E.M. Liddick: You want a leader? This is what one looks like. (TribLIVE)

What do former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, Sen. John Fetterman and U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego have in common? This feels like the start of a bad ...

Which is the beauty of what these public figures occasion, wittingly or not, by openly acknowledging their own pain and seeking help: a reminder that we who live with mental illness are not standing alone in the darkness within. Such is the nature of our (un)civil discourse in America. The statistics are harrowing. So instead, look to the persons on your left and right. Perhaps Iโ€™m in the minority, but I also want someone who prioritizes his or her health before trying to address what ails our country. This feels like the start of a bad joke. Conservatives leveled criticisms; how dare a man battling clinical depression run for office. But itโ€™s more. As one who struggles with Sure, itโ€™s relatability their vulnerability unhusks. What do former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, Sen.

Ra Ra Boom Is A Heartfelt Take On The Classic Beat-'em-Up Genre (GameSpot)

Gylee Games' debut title is aiming to tell a heartfelt story that punches as hard as its cast of characters.

While beat-'em-ups of the past decade have served as a guiding path in the genre's modern era, Bergman also noted that a childhood of hanging out in arcades in the '90s played a major role, especially with the deliberate Lisa-Frank-esque color palette. In an attempt to save the world, humans created an AI that, in turn, created an army of robots that began to wipe out the human race. Across the ground of each level, I saw lines designating the space in which a player is standing, making it easier to identify where you're shooting, which helps keep the pace up (and although I was not actually playing, the lanes seem to quickly blend into the environment and fit naturally into the action). Bergman suffered the loss of a vital figure in his life in 2018, so he began to find healing in telling this story. During one of the opening levels I had seen, the charismatic characters would banter back and forth in the midst of battling robots that were exploding into nuts and bolts. But look a little closer, and right alongside the Lisa Frank color palette and the Saturday-morning-cartoon aesthetic, you'll find a story about a group of young women not just battling robots, but overcoming their own grief and internal struggles in the process.
