Flight logs revealed how 12 people were thrown out to their deaths into the Atlantic during the years of dictatorship.
“But I still think it has to be on display at the [death camp] museum because it is part of history now.” One entry stood out: a three-hour flight in December 1977, from the Buenos Aires city airport back to the Buenos Aires city airport, with no stop in between. “Then the plane was found in Florida, with the original flight logs intact. This was the aircraft which Ceraudo and Lewin eventually tracked down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where it was owned by a company that flies courier packages to the Bahamas. I could have died on that plane myself and many people I knew died on it. The third pilot named in the flight log, Enrique José de Saint Georges, died of natural causes awaiting trial. They included three members of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, including Villaflor, three other relatives of missing people, two French nuns and four young activists who helped the relatives in their search for their loved ones. After we published their stories, the activists tried to persuade me to join their group, and the Mothers sometimes returned if only to hold my hand in silence for 15 minutes. Two were taken from the Comet bar near the Herald offices where we had been scheduled to meet on 8 December. The FAA-registered plane is now in the hands of another US company, Win Aviation, whose owner, Andri Wiese, said he was working to finalise the logistics to return the aircraft. Then they pushed their victims out, to fall thousands of feet into the South Atlantic. On the night of 14 December 1977, the three pilots flew their turboprop aeroplane for more than an hour out over the Atlantic Ocean.

Marvel Studios executive Victoria Alonso was fired over her outside work on the film Argentina, 1985, according to insiders.
Disney took a stand against the bill, resulting in a clash with the state government and ultimately the loss of a special tax status. According to sources, she was reminded of her agreement and her breach several times, but the campaigning continued. “And I’ve always wanted to tell a story about what happened in Argentina, because I should have been one of those 30,000 people.” But insiders acknowledge whoever assumes her duties officially will face similar challenges as Alonso, who helped put out the unprecedented 18 films, TV shows and specials that Marvel released in 2021-22. For the Buenos Aires-born Alonso, Argentina, 1985 was a personal tale. (However, an IndieWire piece published last month on the film stated that she did have permission.) When Disney found out about the project and the violation, her longtime service and veteran status led the company to give her a dispensation on the condition that she not work on the movie further. “I’ve made a lot of stories about superheroes,” Alonso It was a seismic shake-up at Marvel, where for years Alonso was part of the holy trinity — along with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito — who led the Marvel Cinematic Universe to ever-greater heights. Alonso then found herself front and center in the film’s campaign, attending screenings, sitting on panels and doing interviews. Alonso was one of eight producers on the Argentine historical drama, which was distributed by Amazon and competed for the best international feature Oscar. Disney and Marvel made a really poor decision that will have serious consequences. Allonso’s attorney, Patty Glaser, released a statemnt after the initial publication of this story.
Victoria Alonso's work as a producer of the Oscar-nominated “Argentina, 1985” was a major factor in Disney's decision to fire the Marvel executive.
Marvel’s most recent release, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” suffered withering criticism of its visual effects, and the film is one of the lowest grossing Marvel Studios films in the company’s history. “It’s unfortunate that Victoria is sharing a narrative that leaves out several key factors concerning her departure, including an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy,” says the spokesperson. Alonso was reminded repeatedly in writing that she was in violation of her contract, these sources say, but she forged ahead anyway, walking the press line at the Oscars with “Argentina, 1985” director Santiago Mitre, rather than as one of the executive producers of multiple nominee “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Just eight days later, Alonso was fired for breach of contract and violation of Disney’s standards of business conduct. Then she was terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible. At issue, according to the sources, was Alonso’s 2018 employment contract with Disney that prohibited her from working on projects for any rival studios. Alonso’s attorney, however, pushed back on that justification — calling it “absolutely ridiculous.”
An attorney for Alonso said the former executive obtained Disney's "blessing" to promote the film and said her client was "silenced."
You tolerate the heat in Florida, the humidity in Arizona or Florida, and the dryness in Arizona and Texas. “Argentina, 1985” premiered in September at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for Best International Feature at this year’s Oscars. But her promotion came at a time when Marvel was in the midst of a massive production swell, with the studio ramping up production from just three movies per year up through 2019 and Phase 3 of the MCU to producing seven films and eight Disney+ series since then. Family is the family in Texas, in Arizona, in Florida, and in my family, in my home. Alonso, who is also gay, recently attained more prominence in the public sphere in part because of her advocacy for Marvel’s representation efforts. And you tolerate a tantrum in a two-year-old. Then she was terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible. Disney and Marvel made a really poor decision that will have serious consequences. Victoria Alonso's role as a producer on Argentina, 1985 reportedly angered Disney enough to fire her from Marvel Studios.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Following Argentina, 1985’s premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last September, Alonso continued to make public appearances in support of the movie, participating in a variety of screenings and Q&A events no matter how many times Disney reminded her of their agreement. However, it remains to be seen how her exit will affect the studio’s future output. Let us know in the comment section below! However, the report indicates that Disney saw her involvement as a breach of contract. Regardless, she went ahead anyway, and when Disney got wind of her activities, the studio initially gave her a pass on account of her “longtime service and veteran status” within the company.
