City operations highlighted in annual report (Fairmont Sentinel)

FAIRMONT— Fairmont City Administrator Cathy Reynolds detailed the 2022 annual report for municipal services during Monday night's council meeting. Reynolds.

There are 11 full-time employees and one seasonal employee in the street department. The department made upgrades to the Sylvania Park concession building, incubator building and wastewater treatment facility in 2022. The report includes that there are three water towers, two ground storage tanks and one industrial booster station that the department is in charge of. There are seven full-time employees in the finance department. The report says there are over 250 benches and 100 picnic tables, along with 20 fishing docks and five public access sites and 22 playgrounds. In 2022 the store had over 152,000 customers with an average purchase of $32.89. In 2022 the department replaced pumps and electrical panels at the Johnson Street lift station, Albion/Lair lift station, Albion/Webster lift station and Woodland/Lake Park Blvd lift station. The wastewater department has five full-time employees that treated over 457 millions gallons of wastewater. The city zoning codes are also in the process of being updated. It also installed LED lighting at Veterans Park and was recognized by the American Power Association and Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency for excellence in electric reliability. There were 51 election judges that worked with the city clerk,” Reynolds said. We started it to fill a void of information for the community,” Reynolds said.

The fee for a response is on a per-call basis — $300 per call or $150 in an instance where the city is dispatched but turned around enroute. The agreement significantly reduces the size of the bill for a response that goes to the township. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additionally, the water issue impinges upon the equipment used in the unloading process, resulting in that equipment sometimes being submerged By all indications, the proper flow of the storm water is inhibited by a section of compromised piping that is routed under the spur and the CSX Railroad main track, the two being parallel and close together, and that section of compromised piping is the crux of the matter. The reported cost of the new truck is $368,660. Additionally, there was discussion regarding the cleaning and rehabilitation of the city’s municipal water wells. Superintendent Billiter was authorized to proceed with gathering information on the matter. Klug Excavating was the only party to submit bids on the projects. The necessary paperwork should be forthcoming and available within the week. Also at the council table were First Ward Council Members Jim Richmond and Earl Kendle, Second Ward Council Members Rick Bertozzi and Bill Bell, Third Ward Council Members Scott Dalrymple and Don Dillaman, and City Recorder Shiela Ervin.
