Sixth seed Daniil Medvedev comes back from a set down to defeat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Rotterdam first round on Tuesday.

While Davidovich Fokina earned two breaks with his big ground game, unforced errors prevented him from holding serve in the set as Medvedev locked in on return. "That's my game," Medvedev said of his steady play. Medvedev converted on eight of 16 break chances, with Davidovich Fokina breaking six times from 11 opportunities in a topsy-turvy match. "I just managed to play a little bit better," Medvedev said of the turnaround. The sixth seed earned a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory, turning the match around by winning nine of 10 games after falling behind 0-1 in the second set.
It's Day 3 of the ATP ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. We have five first-round matches and three second-round matches.
Lestienne beat Basilashvili in the final round of qualifying, avenging his last loss to the Georgian in Montpellier. He will be looking to reach his first quarterfinal of the season when he takes on home favorite Tallon Griekspoor. But this should not be a physical match and Zverev might have a little more pop in his serve to bail him out of danger. Halys has reached two quarterfinals already in the first quarter of the year, which is new ground for him, having fallen in the Round of 16 stage seven times in his career. Cressy, meanwhile, reached the final in Montpellier this past week, losing to Jannik Sinner. van Rijthoven stepped up when his country needed him at the Davis Cup, earning an important singles win as the Dutch produced a clean sweep in their tie against Slovakia.

The speedy de Minaur can spook opponents with his court coverage compelling them to go for more than they should. De Minaur stamped a love hold to serve out the 37-minute opening set. Rublev resisted the pressure navigating a tricky hold. That tactic, combined with the fact de Minaur is much more comfortable closing at net than Rublev, helped him stretch the lead. It was de Minaur's third win over Rublev in four meetings and snaps the world No. Popping some serves as fast as 130 mph, the 6' Aussie won 28 of 32 first-serve points and did not face a break point.

Expect plenty of exciting action on day four at the ATP Rotterdam Open. But who will reach the quarterfinals in the Netherlands?
The clear match of the day with Jannik Sinner’s unseeded status at the ATP Rotterdam Open a credit to the strength of the field, allowing him to meet Stefanos Tsitsipas so early in the draw. In their most recent match at the Australian Open though, Sinner showed that he can go toe toe toe with Tsitsipas, pushing the eventual finalist to five sets in the fourth round. This looks like a pretty even match on paper, but de Minaur should have just about enough to get over the line. Dropping out of the top 10 is certainly not have Daniil Medvedev imagined starting the year, but after bowing out in the third round of the Australian Open to Sebastian Korda in straight sets that is the reality Medvedev must face. De Minaur really impressed in his first-round win over Andrey Rublev here though, dispatching the Russian in straight sets while Cressy dropped a set to Tim van Rijthoven in his opener. There are five intriguing matches on the slate in the Netherlands and, as always, we here at LWOT are offering our predictions for every match on the schedule.
Fixture: (1) Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Jannik Sinner. Date: February 16, 2023. Tournament: ABN AMRO Open 2023. Round: Second Round (Round of 16).
Tsitsipas will enter the match as the favorite to win given his recent form and head-to-head record against Sinner. Tsitsipas leads 5-1 in the head-to-head against Sinner. Here, he triumphed 7-6(3), 6-3 over the American to win his seventh ATP singles title. He then entered the Open Sud de France in Montpellier as the second seed and did not play a single match before the quarterfinals. The latter made the first break of the match in the fifth game of the opening set but the World No. Tsitsipas has had a brilliant start to the season, winning 11 out of 12 matches so far.
