OnePlus 11 Review: It Works Hard to Earn Its Flagship Title (CNET)

We reviewed the OnePlus 11 over three weeks. In our tests, the new flagship was powerful, but not perfect.

That's quicker than the 1 to 2 hours you can expect a full recharge of the Pixel 7 Pro to take. The phone supports 100-watt fast charging in the UK (80W in the US) which will fill the battery from empty in only 25 minutes -- or 27 minutes on the 80W model. If photography isn't a huge focus for you, and you just want crisp, vibrant shots of your friends or your kids at the beach then you'll be well served by the OnePlus 11 -- particularly if you like taking photos at night. It's a strong yellow effect that I don't like any more than the cold look of the OnePlus 11's shot. The details on my face are sharper too, and although the color tones give a warmer look to the image above. There's also a noticeable color shift between the OnePlus 11's main camera and ultrawide -- a detail I'd noticed on the OnePlus 10 Pro, too. Not having a proper telephoto lens on the OnePlus 11 feels like I have to make compromises in my photography that I wouldn't with other phones. [Samsung Galaxy S23](https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/galaxy-s23-and-s23-plus-unveiled-bigger-battery-better-selfies-and-a-faster-chip/), which starts at $800 and comes with a 6.1-inch display, a triple-camera setup, 8GB of RAM and the latest [Qualcomm 8 Gen 2 processor](https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/qualcomms-next-premium-android-chip-adds-ray-tracing-and-wi-fi-7-connectivity/). The sky has more of a teal tone to it, which doesn't reflect reality. At 6.7 inches, the display is sizable enough to do justice to mobile games, while its maximum 3,216x1,440-pixel resolution makes everything look nice and crisp (you can opt for a lower resolution to help eke out the battery life). The Pixel's pure Android 13 software is clutter-free, and the cameras generally perform better -- especially with the addition of the 5x optical zoom lens, which the OnePlus lacks. It's similar in design, it's got a hefty (arguably redundant) boost in power and the new camera setup, while good, isn't a big leap forward.

OnePlus 11 5G review: a great phone that's a tough sell (The Verge)

The OnePlus 11 5G starts at $699 and includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, an excellent 6.7-inch screen, and wicked-fast charging. In short, it's a whole ...

Maybe there’s a case for the OnePlus 11 if you really want a device with a big high-quality screen and you want to pay a bit less than Samsung charges for one. I’m glad that there’s a viable alternative to Samsung and Google in the OnePlus 11. But $699 is still a lot of money, and if you want to pick up a OnePlus 11 this year, you’re going to be paying out of pocket. The OnePlus 11 continues to offer a very good ultrawide camera — it holds onto detail well and doesn’t get too noisy in dim light. [OnePlus is promising four Android OS updates](https://www.theverge.com/2022/11/30/23484102/oneplus-android-updates-2023-phones-extends-support-period-select-models) and five years of security updates, which marks a significant upgrade in its software support policy. On OxygenOS 12, swiping down from the top right of the screen surfaced a feature called the Shelf, which is a customizable page with widgets and quick info like weather. Unlike in [the past couple of years](https://www.theverge.com/2021/4/29/22409675/verizon-att-tmobile-5g-mmwave-c-band), 5G actually means something now, and the OnePlus 11 will work on these networks both in the present and the near future as they keep improving. [a new pair of earbuds](https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/7/23587754/oneplus-buds-pro-2-price-release-date-specs-features-true-wireless-earbuds) alongside the phone: the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. You need to use the supplied charging brick and cable to get those speeds, so you can’t sub in your MacBook Pro charger to get those top speeds, and you can’t use this brick to charge your MacBook. In any case, it’s a nice peace-of-mind feature if you’re a charging procrastinator or someone who travels and needs to make the most of their limited time near a power outlet. The phone will work on the 5G networks of all three major US carriers at launch — something that OnePlus had difficulty securing in the past — and The camera system is somewhat improved, too, but still falls a bit short of the competition.

OnePlus 11 review: You win some, you lose some (features) (ZDNet)

The OnePlus 11 wins with a timeless design, fast performance and fast-charging, and an affordable price tag, but loses some of the OnePlus 10 Pro's most ...

I tested the overclocked version of the mobile platform in [my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra review](https://www.zdnet.com/article/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-review/), and that turned out to be an astounding experience. [OnePlus' $150 million partnership](https://www.zdnet.com/article/oneplus-gets-serious-about-mobile-photography-with-hasselblad-partnership-oneplus-9-launch-event-on-for-march-23/) with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad and the collaboration may finally be paying off. The 48MP ultrawide camera with its 115-degree FOV is great to have, too, but I really wish OnePlus had kept the 150-degree FOV lens from last year. Colors have a sprinkle of saturation that makes the image more expressive, and I love how OnePlus isn't overdoing the sharpening effects. That last is the most important change as it now captures subjects with a 2X optical zoom, the ideal distance for portrait photography. [Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset](https://www.zdnet.com/article/qualcomm-unveils-the-snapdragon-8-gen-2-with-wi-fi-7-support-ai-and-gaming-performance-boosts-and-more/) that powers the whole operation. My review unit was also powered by 16GB of RAM, which, for the sake of future-proofing, is the configuration that I'd recommend picking up if you do end up investing in a OnePlus 11. In OnePlus' defense, the actual hardware design of the 11 is sleek and more premium-feeling than other sub-$800 phones that I've used. OnePlus is playing it safe with the 11's design, which is both disappointing and understandable. I think we can all agree that the market can use more high-performing sub-$800 phones, and the OnePlus 11 is the latest to give us that. That said, while the phone is at least $400 less than flagships from Samsung and Apple, the lower price should make you wonder what the compromises are. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services.

The OnePlus 11 is a great $699 Android phone — if you can live ... (CNN)

The OnePlus 11 delivers a flagship Android phone experience for $100 less than the competition, but it makes some big compromises to get there.

[best smartphone](https://www.cnn.com/cnn-underscored/reviews/best-smartphones) pick) and Pixel 7 (which is [deeply discounted](https://shop-links.co/ci5enCY0i1G?u1=0207oneplus11) right now) will give you better cameras and software experiences, while the [Galaxy S23](https://www.cnn.com/cnn-underscored/electronics/samsung-galaxy-s23-plus-pre-order) is positioned to be one of the fastest phones of the year. If you rely on wireless charging a lot to juice up during the day, don’t buy the OnePlus 11. The Dolby Atmos support is nice, but for a majority of the content you’ll play on these speakers, you’ll be left with subpar quality. OnePlus packed in a big 5,000mAh cell, and it comfortably carries me through full 16 hour days with 40 to 45% left in the tank at night. If you’re wondering whether this makes a difference, I can tell you it doesn’t, at least not to the extent that OnePlus wants. It’s a continuation of OnePlus’ partnership with the legendary camera company that kicked off in 2021 with the OnePlus 9 series. Sure, there’s a slight dip in the amount of detail it could capture (I’m assuming this has to do with how OnePlus processes images), but the device could hold its own in side-by-side comparisons. OnePlus has been a pioneer when it comes to faster refresh rates, having been one of the first companies to ship a phone with a 90Hz refresh rate. The OnePlus 11 features a Bionic Vibration Motor that greatly improves the quality of vibrations and haptic feedback on the device. (Oddly, OnePlus went with a frosted finish for the back glass on the Titan Black and glossy for the Eternal Green, and I wish they’d have used the frosted finish on both). There’s a USB-C port on the bottom for charging (more on that later), stereo speakers, a physical SIM tray the superior way to implement SIM card support on a phone, cough cough Apple), and an array of microphones. With its solid performance, good camera, good battery life, and nice design, it stood more as an affordable alternative to the Samsungs and Googles of the world rather than a top-rate competitor.

The OnePlus 11 Is a Speed Demon of a Smartphone (WIRED)

This speedy Android smartphone is a trusty alternative that can go toe-to-toe with the competition.

Even the cheaper [Pixel 7](https://www.wired.com/review/google-pixel-7-pixel-7-pro/) uses Victus on both sides, making it more durable (the new [Galaxy S23](https://www.wired.com/story/samsung-galaxy-s23-deals/) opts for the even stronger [Victus 2](https://www.xda-developers.com/corning-gorilla-glass-victus-2/)). I much prefer plopping a phone on my bedside [wireless charger](https://www.wired.com/gallery/best-wireless-chargers/) instead of fumbling for a cable in the dark. Also, the screen is wrapped in Corning's scratch-resistant [Gorilla Glass Victus](https://www.wired.com/story/gorilla-glass-victus/), but the rear glass employs the older Gorilla Glass 5. But it turned out the cable was too short—and I couldn't swap in the MacBook's longer cable, because its USB-C plug wouldn't work with the OnePlus adapter. OnePlus used to follow the [same strategy](https://www.wired.com/review/oneplus-10-pro/), but it's changing things up this year with its new [OnePlus 11 5G](https://cna.st/affiliate-link/2uxxCQ7Rfr7UbUnAxYGAELuUNLVUw98ngbWkCRKBavvfcKS3cazhjh8gjskMMsFBAQ4WGGdGQqJNZtm5snAccb2Be2zECgF3AbgkL5MKy7GJbQCgHwkfMtVQMNcnApBjJFwrgP72g). You can upgrade to 16 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage for $100 more (and if you like the fancy green color, which is the version I tested). Speed demons will note that the base version of the phone comes with Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.1, whereas the 16 GB RAM upgrade nets you UFS 4.0. The OnePlus 11 remains one of the fastest-charging phones in the US. But it manages to compete with most other high-end phones in almost every other way, from performance and battery life to the cameras.

The OnePlus 11 and the 'Pad' Tablet are New Flagship Mobile ... (PetaPixel)

The OnePlus 11 is a new flagship smartphone and is accompanied by a debut tablet in the OnePlus Pad that also goes the flagship route.

For instance, it would be easy to share data with a OnePlus phone, or to leverage the phone for its data connection. OnePlus envisions the Pad synchronizing with the other products in its lineup. On top of a new pair of earbuds, OnePlus finally revealed its own tablet, a device that was teased and leaked for some time leading up to the launch. It is a metal unibody with 2.5D curved glass along the edges, something not done in a tablet before, with a thin profile and lightweight build weighing 552 grams on its own. It’s not clear how good the onboard camera is, though it is centred rather than put in a corner. The 32-megapixel portrait telephoto lens is exactly that — a lens that optically gets closer to a subject, regardless of whether it’s a person or object. This is a key launch for OnePlus, not least of which because it’s reaching for the industry’s best by pushing its own envelope driven by the continued partnership with Hasselblad, which is supposed to show itself more precisely with the OnePlus 11. It retains the 115-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture, but is said to benefit from Hasselblad’s color reproduction since those modes are equally accessible by the ultra-wide. As for Hasselblad, OnePlus says its presence is more pronounced and obvious with this phone. OnePlus carries on with a triple camera array on the phone’s rear, led by the 50-megapixel wide camera (24mm equivalent) using Sony’s IMX890 image sensor. If you want a nice-looking case that is pleasing to the eye and more versatile than your typical case, you should definitely check out the Foluu flip folio case. This case lifts the camera lens (1.5 mm) and the display (1 mm) off a flat surface, keeping them both protected. No matter which case you choose, there is one to suit your style and protect your investment. The back features a metal frame, a lens frame, clear glass to cover the camera lenses, and tempered glass to cover the entire backplate. The Shantime clear case is made from clear TPU, letting you see your OnePlus 11’s color choice in all its glory. Like the Foluu, this flip cover case can be used as a kickstand for convenient content consumption. It is made from TPU and wrapped in skin-friendly sheepskin leather to protect your phone from scuffs and scratches. The carbon fiber case made by Avesfer is one of the few non-clear traditional style cases available for the OnePlus 11. The outside cover is made from PU leather, and the OnePlus 11 is held in place by a TPU bumper. This TPU case has a brushed textured back flanked by woven carbon fiber at the top and bottom of the case. One of the best things about this case is its versatility. The back of the phone features a unique circular camera design that leaves quite a bit of glass exposed.

Camera Comparison: Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max vs. OnePlus 11 5G (Mac Rumors)

Chinese smartphone company OnePlus today announced the official debut of the OnePlus 11 5G, which is the company's latest flagship smartphone....

With the standard camera in good lighting, you're not going to see much difference in image quality between the OnePlus 11 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is typical of smartphone cameras these days. It is worth noting, though, that the OnePlus 11 is limited to 2x zoom, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max supports 3x zoom. Other OnePlus 11 5G features include a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, always-on display technology, the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform used in Samsung's latest S23 devices, up to 16GB RAM, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, and a 5,000mAh battery. The OnePlus 11 5G has a more advanced telephoto lens in some ways, as it is equipped with a 32-megapixel portrait telephoto lens that uses Hasselblad technology, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max is limited to a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has the wider field of view, but it can't compete with the higher megapixel count on the OnePlus. The device was already announced in China, but today marks the global launch so we thought we'd compare the OnePlus 11 5G to the

When it comes time to finally choose a new Android phone in 2023, the OnePlus 11 shouldn't get left off the list. This is full of widgets like a clock, the weather, and a recently played view on Spotify. By far the most impressive aspect of the OnePlus 11 is its battery. OnePlus claims the new chip provides speed boosts of 25 and 35 percent to to the GPU and CPU, respectively, but the proof is more in how the phone feels to use as an everyday device. [Pixel 7 Pro](https://mashable.com/review/google-pixel-7-pro-review), which I would hold up as the current gold standard of Android phones. [OnePlus 10 Pro](https://mashable.com/review/oneplus-10-pro-review), the OnePlus 11 is a big phone with a big battery and impressive-looking specs on paper. The OnePlus 11 is a generally good smartphone that you don’t need to break the bank to get, as it starts at just $700. There’s also the dreaded “Shelf,” a OnePlus-exclusive drop-down menu that appears when you swipe down from around the middle of the display. I have a tendency to lay my phone flat on a pillow next to me while I sleep sometimes, and that’s a bad idea with the OnePlus 11 because it’ll inevitably slip off and wind up lost in your bed somewhere. It’s a little too big for long-term one-handed use, and OnePlus didn’t fix the problem I had last year where the volume rocker and power button are on opposite sides of the phone. OnePlus 11 is a really cool-looking phone, one that would certainly catch the eye of someone sitting across from you on public transit. The latest flagship smartphone out of the Chinese tech giant is an exercise in minor iteration.

OnePlus 11 vs. Pixel 7 Pro: Which Cameras Take Better Photos? (CNET)

Google's top phone and OnePlus' new flagship both have triple camera setups. But which one takes the best-looking images? We tested them to find out.

That 2x lens is fine for portraits, but it's nothing compared with the superb 5x zoom on the Pixel 7 Pro, which is probably my favorite camera lens found on any of today's top phones. As a result, I prefer the shots from the Pixel 7 Pro. The OnePlus 11 captured a much brighter shot, with clouds in the night sky being particularly noticeable. Throughout my testing, I've found that the OnePlus 11 quite consistently delivers shots that are highly saturated and show heavy-handed HDR processing that lifts shadows and tones down highlights to a sometimes unrealistic extent. I always enjoy taking photos with the Pixel's zoom lens as I feel I can get a lot more creative with the zoom than I can with just a wide-angle lens. In the photo above, the OnePlus 11's 2x lens only goes so far in getting a closer-up view of the buildings against the river.

OnePlus 11 review: rapid Android with long battery life (The Guardian)

Top-performing phone has great screen, superfast charging and solid camera but lacks pizazz.

It is just a little uninspired and with some The 2x telephoto is one of the better short zoom cameras available, good on detail and balance, but it doesn’t meaningfully close the distance to objects. The battery is rated to last at least 1,600 full charge cycles, which is roughly double most rivals and should last for the life of the phone without needing replacement. The large circular camera lump on the back is divisive, however. The battery should last for the full five years, too, which can’t be said of most competitors. It has a main 48MP, 50MP ultra-wide and 32MP 2x telephoto on the back, plus a decent 16MP selfie camera on the front The screen is great, the fingerprint scanner is responsive and the camera is solid if not class leading. The ultrawide camera is a little soft on detail and can produce slightly dark shots compared with the other cameras. The phone is well made but is only splash resistant and not rated to be capable of surviving submersion in water like most rivals, which feels a bit cheap. The 11 lasts about 46 to 48 hours between charges, with the screen actively used for five to six hours in that time and three hours spent on 5G, the rest on wifi. OnePlus 11 Review - IGN (IGN)

The OnePlus 11 is a big return to form for OnePlus, it offers almost everything you'd want from a flagship Android phone for a mid-range price.

The OnePlus 11 takes a bit longer to charge, but seven extra minutes isn’t too much of a hassle. The higher-end SKU I tested for this review comes with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage for a [higher $799 price](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/oneplus-11-5g-256gb-unlocked-titan-black/6531254.p?skuId=6531254). A battery of that size paired with a QHD+ screen, plus the power-sipping always-on display, allowed me to finish most days with 30-40% battery life. Still, the OnePlus 11 looks like a flashy accessory thanks to the smoky, chrome-out stainless steel on the camera housing and sides of the device. Curiously, the OnePlus 10T could charge at a much faster 125W pace that was capable of fully charging the device in 20 minutes. Thanks to its high-resolution sensor, photos from the 2x zoom camera are nice and sharp and you can digitally zoom in without compromising too much detail. The OnePlus 11 comes well-equipped with cameras, including the ever-present 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor found in most high-end smartphones. But for the most part, if you want a premium Android phone experience, there’s no other device that offers as much for as little as the OnePlus 11 does right now. Of course, you will be staring at the OnePlus 11’s 6.7-inch screen more often. Still, it feels and looks sleeker than it actually is in hand thanks to the way its curved screen further thins out its edges. There are of course a few things to nitpick, like the slightly slower and completely proprietary fast charging, and that photos that come out of this device might not be to everyone’s liking. Enter the OnePlus 11 at $699, which, on paper at least, still gives you everything I just mentioned.
