Tesla's Chinese rival Xpeng announced the launch of its P7 sedan and G9 SUV in Europe following bleak China sales last year.
Xpeng claims that its P7 sedan, priced at 49,990 euros ($54,917) in the Netherlands, can travel 576 kilometers on a single charge. Meanwhile, Xpeng local rival, Nio, started delivering a substantial number of electric vehicles to Norway at the end of 2021. Xpeng also appeared set to challenge Tesla’s dominance in its home state of China, although it still lags behind the Texas-based EV manufacturer on deliveries. Although Xpeng president Brian Gu calls the company’s Europe launch a “significant milestone,” the Chinese EV maker faces stiff competition in the region. The Chinese EV maker priced its P7 sedan below the EVs of US rivals Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) in these European countries. On Friday, Xpeng launched its P7 sedan and its G9 sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

XPeng is ready to grow in Europe, adding Denmark, Holland and Sweden to its markets.
It is also connected to the Plugsurfing and Shell Recharge electric vehicle charging station networks that offer over 400,000 public charging points in 32 European countries. Alongside new sales territories in Northern Europe, XPeng is working on its physical presence across the continent. The P7 is a performance sedan with a 0-62 mph time of just 4.1 seconds and enough tech to compete in the entry-level premium sedan space it is clearly aimed at. Even then, it was clear that the P7 is an optimistic, if imperfect, technology platform. XPeng was already active in Norway, where it has been selling its G3 CUV since 2020 and the P7 since 2021. The P7 and the G9 both come with the latest version of XPeng's in-house developed ADAS tech, called XPilot.

Following this was the P7, a sports sedan, launched in 2020, which has been the company’s best-selling model to date. [Nio](https://www.nio.com/) is probably the best known of the three, and comes with its own posy of fanboys who are nearly as militant as some of Tesla’s advocates. The company claims this is the first model designed as a world car. And unlike the third member of the triumvirate, [Li Auto](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li_Auto), it’s a far more known entity outside of China. While the tech might have been pushing into Tesla territory, the choice of materials was grounded. [XPeng](https://heyxpeng.com/) got there first.
