What they did find, however, was a chamber filled with canisters of viscous liquid that had been dubbed the ‘Black Goo’ by the Alien fandom–a substance that would hold major significance. At this point, interstellar space travel was not as common as it would become, and Weyland-Yutani wasn’t even Weyland-Yutani as the two companies had yet to merge, meaning Weyland Corp.
