Obviously we see it first hand with the national team but to play against her as well, you really can see how hard it is, you knew she would get one chance like that and you can't let it happen because it will end up in a goal." "It's good to be reflective and what we walked out on the pitch for today was Beth and her mum. Later in the day, Rachel Williams also equalled that record with her goal from a header in Manchester United's 6-0 demolition of Liverpool. Her team has incredibly never lost any of the 42 league matches in which she has scored, winning 38 and now drawing four. Arsenal began on the front foot, dominating possession in an attempt to draw their opponents out before getting in behind them. Arsenal have one match in hand over the champions and will draw level on points with Chelsea should they win that game.

Arsenal 8 points clear, commanding Premier League title race (The Washington Post)

Eight points clear in the Premier League, playing the most free-flowing soccer in England, and now humbling its fiercest rivals in front of their own fans.

Ramsdale didn’t seem hurt and was dragged away from the area by teammates before celebrating in front of Arsenal’s supporters at the other end of the stadium. Not only did Mitrovic end up on the losing team, he had a goal ruled out for a double touch when attempting a penalty kick. Joelinton played the whole game for Newcastle three days after his midweek arrest for alleged drunk-driving. Then Saka led a break forward in the 36th and slipped a ball inside to captain Martin Odegaard, who lashed home a low shot from 25 meters. Now they’ve both played the same number of matches — 18 of a possible 38 — and Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was looking to make an impression at St.

Arsenal firmly title favourites after emphatic win vs. Spurs (ESPN)

After beating Tottenham in the North London derby, Arsenal are the bookies' favourites to win the Premier League for the first time in seven years.

He then denied Kane again and [Ryan Sessegnon](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/241328/Ryan-Sessegnon) early in the second half as Spurs fought to get back into the game, so his contribution was vital. It is a shame as it is just a game of football at the end of the day. They lacked ideas and organisation, and confidence seems to be in short supply, but Spurs have now reached the decisive stage of their season. [Hugo Lloris](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/43372/Hugo-Lloris) own-goal followed by a long-range strike by [Martin Odegaard](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/203669/martin-ødegaard) -- both in the first half -- were enough to claim the points and maintain Arsenal's bid to win their first title since Arsene Wenger's Invincibles in 2003-04. [France](/soccer/team?id=478) keeper -- he announced his retirement from international football after the World Cup -- almost gifted a goal to Eddie Nketiah with a poor clearance. There is little sign of another bounce this term, but Spurs will need to find something pretty quickly because those next three league games could see them come away with zero points if they perform as poorly as they did against the Gunners. Now, the mistakes are becoming too regular, and Spurs need to start looking for a replacement. Whether Arsenal's squad is deep enough to last the course remains to be seen, and plenty of teams have failed to sustain a good first half of the season into the second half. This was a day of contrasts for the two goalkeepers on duty. 15, Arsenal's title credentials really will be placed under scrutiny, but they breezed through the first challenge by beating Spurs with a scoreline that flattered the home side. With the Spurs game followed by United at the Emirates next Sunday and a home game against City on Feb. [Manchester United](/soccer/team?id=360), coupled with Arsenal's North London derby victory, gave Mikel Arteta's team an eight-point lead ahead of Pep Guardiola's side.

I think after games like today, I don't see why they wouldn't want to come back and watch us again! Obviously, to do it with a crowd like that behind you, you just want do the best you can and to try and create something. I just hope that happens more often and that we see them back. I just want to do my role for the team and try and create and score. I couldn't be prouder to play for a club like Arsenal and to have those fans backing us. We had really good chances to put the game to bed and obviously to concede late on is disappointing.

Arsenal Football Club are favourites to win the Premier League with the bookmakers. At last. The weekly expectation of “yeah but Manchester City will come ...

But for a fan to do that and to try and kick a player on the pitch, it’s unacceptable. The ball from Jelena was absolutely world class but so was the leap, so was the header. And so too is the contract, with Mudryk penning an eight-and-a-half-year deal, a length that makes little sense for anyone but the player himself. “It’s been a really good first half of the season for us,” said Howe. It doesn't seem to make too much sense, but when a hijack is possible, clubs do tend to get a bit over-excited. Cue the pressure on Mudryk, another wide player for Chelsea when a proper centre forward is what they are truly lacking... “She stays confident in the game, she knows that it will only take one chance and she stays switched on to that. At the Emirates. The opponents? “It’s unacceptable from the Spurs fan,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports. Arsenal Football Club are favourites to win the Premier League with the bookmakers. The weekend could hardly have gone better for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Aaron Ramsdale and his back four were magnificent at repelling the waves of Spurs attacks that came in the first 15 minutes of the second half. The task at hand doesn’t get any easier for Arsenal however as they welcome Manchester United to the Emirates next weekend. And that flip in the favourites is for good reason. Manchester City, who suffered a body blow in the Manchester derby against United, have slipped down to 45.4%. Southampton in September 2021). Back then, Arsenal’s lead over City was five points.

Predicting the Premier League title race, fight for top four (ESPN)

The teams at the top end of the Premier League face a pivotal week in the season. What are they all chasing, and how will things pan out from here?

[Virgil van Dijk](http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/157892/Virgil-van-Dijk), [Diogo Jota](http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/208133/Diogo-Jota), [Roberto Firmino](http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/147234/Roberto-Firmino) and [Luis Diaz](http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/257390/Luis-Díaz) are all sidelined right now, and the team has suffered badly as a result of their absences. [Borussia Dortmund](/soccer/team?id=124) in the round of 16 and fail to close the gap on the top four, Potter might find that the support of the hierarchy ebbs away. But if Chelsea are to finish in the top four, they have to start a winning run of a similar length to get back in the race. But even if Kane stays fit, Spurs have a mountain to climb to finish in the top four, and there is a risk that their form deteriorates further and they end up in a battle for Europa League qualification. Liverpool were expected to challenge for the title at the start of the season. Although they have the best defensive record in the league, the goals are beginning to dry up, with only one scored in their past three Premier League games. United are clearly on an upward trajectory again, but their lack of depth in key areas means they need to be lucky with injuries and suspensions. They have won only four of their past eight games in all competitions and have lost their past two, so these are unusually difficult times for Guardiola's side. But City are attempting to become only the fifth English club to win three successive league titles, and coach Pep Guardiola loves making history, so they will be desperate to reel Arsenal in. [Martin Odegaard](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/203669/martin-odegaard), winger [Bukayo Saka](http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/280555/Bukayo-Saka) and goalkeeper [Aaron Ramsdale](http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/236015/Aaron-Ramsdale) have grown as the season has progressed. If they maintain that kind of form, Arsenal could hit 100 points, but with all of their rivals displaying inconsistency at some stage of this campaign, it will not take such a high total to win the title. But the Gunners are now aiming much higher, and having opened an eight-point lead at the top of the table, Mikel Arteta's team are now favourites to win the title for the first time since 2004.
