Puss In Boots: The Last Wish Was 2022's Animated Dark Horse And ... (Game Rant)

As one of 2022's best animated movies, a tame box office should not deter viewers from giving Puss In Boots: The Last Wish a chance.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a fun and emotional rollercoaster that’s inventive and uses animation techniques to boost its artistic value, it’s practically everything that an animated movie should be. [since Bob Chapek took over as Disney CEO](https://gamerant.com/disney-bob-iger-return-huge-deal/), the company started limiting releases of Pixar movies to Disney Plus streaming, a decision that has kept well-liked films from the world's most prestigious animation studio away from movie theaters. Simply put Puss in Boots: The Last Wish offers some of the best animated entertainment out there, especially if limited to the big screen. It’s that anxiety that made Toy Story 3 so spectacular and relatable to adults, as well as kids, but it’s also present in the likes of Bambi, The Iron Giant, Inside Out, Coco and Soul, And why is it so important that cinephiles support Puss in Boots: The Last Wish as a signal this is where the industry should move towards to? While the first Puss in Boots could bank on the popularity of Shrek to secure a profitable box office, bringing back Antonio Banderas’ anthropomorphic fairy tale cat was a bit of an odd move.

Review: 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish' (Flayrah)

It's a bit ostentatious, even a bit overly pleased with itself. Maybe goes on a little long. But, then again, what studio bumper doesn't, nowadays? But, being a ...

Between Jack and the villain of the recent [Glass Onion](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11564570/), it seems Hollywood was ready for [Elon Musk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elon_Musk)'s final heel revelation late last year. Note that a version of [the Three Bears](https://shrek.fandom.com/wiki/The_Three_Bears) and [a Big Bad Wolf](https://shrek.fandom.com/wiki/Big_Bad_Wolf) have appeared in previous Shrek movies, but the Three Bears especially are working on a "it's been two decades since that background joke, everyone's forgot, right?" [the nursery rhyme](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Jack_Horner), now known as Big Jack Horner, voiced by [John Mulaney](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1825214/). [Wagner Moura](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0609944/)) put the fear of death in him. [Joel Crawford](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3150455/) takes over as director, with previous director's credit on [The Croods: A New Age](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2850386/). [Harvey Guillén](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2957490/), who, despite being an unloved and abandoned orphan, is always cheery, upbeat and optimistic. [Spirit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_(franchise)), you know, the one with the horse? [the Madagascar franchise](https://www.flayrah.com/category/tags/madagascar) is ignored. The titular character Puss has been voiced by [Antonio Banderas](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000104) in all theatrical releases since [Shrek 2](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298148/). Also for furries, [the Kung Fu Panda series](https://www.flayrah.com/category/tags/kung-fu-panda) is featured, and [we already know that's got a fourth movie coming](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21692408/). And obviously, [the Shrek franchise](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek_(franchise)) is prominently featured, but the star of the movie we're about to actually start reviewing is not. There are also appearances by the [Trolls](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolls_(film)) and [Boss Baby](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boss_Baby_(franchise)) franchises, but they aren't furry, so who cares?
