Prince Harry makes series of sensational claims in new memoir (BBC News)

Harry claims William physically attacked him, and says he urged his father not to marry Camilla.

Prince Harry's account of a conversation he says he had with his late mother is short, the Guardian says. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out." "You're living the life she wanted for you." So far there's a tone of unresolved grief, grievance and accusation in Prince Harry's claims. It's intensely personal too, about his closest family, brother, step-mother, sister-in-law, father. Reuters news agency has also seen the Spanish version.

Prince Harry: William bashed Meghan, physically attacked me (Los Angeles Times)

'It all happened so fast,' Prince Harry writes in an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir about a 2019 argument he allegedly had with Prince William.

[People](https://people.com/royals/prince-harry-drove-same-tunnel-princess-diana-died-same-speed-excerpt-spare/) published a different excerpt from the book in which Harry recounts driving at high speed through the Paris tunnel where his mother, Princess Diana, died in 1997. But the argument inevitably came up after Meghan discovered “scrapes and bruises” on her husband’s back, Harry writes. The prince of Wales allegedly demanded Harry fight back, but Harry says he refused, and William eventually left. While handing his brother a glass of water, Harry allegedly said, “Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this.” The Guardian obtained an excerpt from the duke of Sussex’s highly anticipated memoir, “Spare,” which comes out Tuesday. [ITV interview](https://twitter.com/ITV/status/1610924191204708352) with Harry in which he laments his family painting him and Meghan as “villains” and expresses a desire to repair his strained relationships with the men in his life. William allegedly insisted he was trying to help Harry, who writes that he replied, “Are you serious? According to a Wednesday report from [Page Six](https://pagesix.com/2023/01/04/prince-harry-claims-william-and-kate-middleton-told-him-to-buy-nazi-costume/), Harry also claims in the memoir that William and his wife, Kate, encouraged him to wear a Nazi uniform to a costume party that [landed him in hot water](https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2005-jan-14-oe-gumbel14-story.html) in 2005. “It all happened so fast. Another “startling revelation” from Page Six’s reporting on Spare is Harry’s admission that his penis (referred to as his “todger”) was frostbitten at William and Kate’s 2011 wedding, as Harry was recovering from a charity North Pole expedition that had occurred the month prior. In what is perhaps the most shocking Spare revelation yet, Harry apparently outs William and Kate as “regular—nay, religious—viewers of Suits.” As reported by Page Six, when Harry told his siblings who his newest paramour was at the start of his relationship with Meghan, “their mouths fell open” and William responded, “F–k off?” It seems William’s familiarity with Meghan’s job made him even more apprehensive about Harry’s new relationship. After all, they did just meet, and according to the leak, Harry goes on to note, “Willy didn’t hug many strangers.” Apparently, the costume was for a “Native and Colonial” themed party (there’s your first mistake!), and when Harry asked William and Kate whether he should go as a pilot or a Nazi, they chose Nazi. knocked [him] to the floor.” Harry fell on a dog bowl and broke it, resulting in noticeable injuries to his back, which Meghan later saw. Bonkers Revelations From Prince Harry's Book, Ranked (New York Magazine)

He writes that she “wasn’t that surprised and wasn’t all that angry,” but “she was terribly sad.” He wasn’t great at showing emotions under normal circumstances, how could he be expected to show them in such a crisis?” He added, “His hand did fall once more on my knee and he said, ‘It’s going to be OK.’ That was quite a lot for him. The royal reveals that he lost his virginity to an unnamed older woman in a field behind a “very busy pub” when he was 17. [According to](https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/jan/04/prince-harry-william-physical-attack-2019-meghan-spare-book) the Guardian, which has obtained a copy of the book, Harry says William came to his home at Nottingham Cottage to talk about “the whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship and issues with the press. “When I found myself plunged in the heat and confusion of combat I didn’t think of those 25 as people,” he wrote. The bodyguard was actually investigating reports that a newspaper had evidence of Harry taking drugs. Harry writes that “in the era of Apaches and laptops” it was possible to establish “with exactness how many enemy combatants I had killed. It was becoming more of an issue by the day,” he says. Such was the strangeness and scrutiny of his young life that he says he welcomed serving in Afghanistan. The aftermath of her death seems to have left a divide between Harry and his father, now King Charles. Also previously untold was his account of finding out about Queen Elizabeth's ill-health and death. Richard Kemp, a retired British army officer, also took issue with Harry’s description of Taliban fighters as “chess pieces” removed from the board, telling the same network they “tarnished” his reputation and “unjustly” painted the British Army in a negative light. UK newspaper the Telegraph reports that Prince Harry claims to have killed 25 people while serving with the British army in Afghanistan, saying that in the heat of combat he viewed his targets as “chess pieces” rather than people. On the one side, there is the view that Harry’s account will be damaging to the monarchy and undermines the King at a time when he is trying to show how the institution is modernizing. Many of the networks involved have touted their upcoming appearances over the past week, so – in case you haven’t been able to keep up – here’s a rundown of where you can catch Harry: The pre-recorded sit-down will air during the ABC show on Monday morning, followed in the evening by a half-hour special on ABC News Live from 8:30 p.m. Harry has indicated he would be open to a rapprochement, but it’s hard to see how that’s possible right now in the midst of this massive royal exposé. From the establishment perspective, many will feel that he was afforded an elevated royal role to prevent him feeling like a spare part. Shop owners told PA they expected book deliveries late Monday to avoid copy leaks and one shop confirmed signing a document to ensure the memoir was not put on sale ahead of schedule. At the height of Potter-mania, huge lengths were taken to ensure a spoiler-free experience for J.K. But for it to be dragged into a protracted tit-for-tat with estranged family members could be worse. Not since the release of “Harry Potter” has there been a book publication so hotly anticipated. Measures included publishing staffers being sworn to secrecy, print-facility employees allegedly allowed only to view parts of the book at one time and retailers signing agreements.

Harry says he landed on a dog bowl, which left him bruised, and that his brother egged him to hit back, but he didn’t. The prince recalls fears that she would become a “wicked stepmother” and be unfairly compared to Diana. They declined at the time to say who prompted that conversation — only that it wasn’t Queen Elizabeth or her husband, Prince Philip. The tabloid photos of him in that costume were one of the royal family’s biggest Harry headaches — at least before he quit his royal role and decamped to California. That story was one of the headlines from Harry writes about using a psychic a woman who claimed to have “powers” to communicate with his mother, the late Princess Diana. It was "a humiliating episode with an older woman who liked macho horses and who treated me like a young stallion,” the prince writes. “One of my many mistakes was letting it happen in a field, just behind a very busy pub.” The prince says that he killed 25 members of the Taliban during his two tours serving the British army in Afghanistan. “When I found myself plunged in the heat and confusion of combat I didn’t think of those 25 as people. That revelation has mostly gotten a yawn in Britain, where few believed Buckingham Palace’s previous denials about Harry’s drug use.

The Biggest Revelations From Prince Harry's 'Spare' (Vogue.com)

From the breakdown of the relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Prince William and Kate Middleton to losing his virginity in a field, ...

In a particularly striking passage, Harry compares meeting Camilla for the first time to “getting an injection”—“close your eyes and you won’t even feel it”—while elsewhere he expresses his resentment that the Queen Consort transformed his bedroom into a dressing room after he moved out of Clarence House. “It’s not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but nor does it embarrass me,” he writes, noting that he chose to see Taliban fighters as “chess pieces removed from the board” because “you can’t kill people if you see them as people.” After owning his decision to wear a Nazi uniform to a Halloween party in 2005 during Harry & Meghan (“probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life”), Harry writes in Spare that the Prince and Princess of Wales allegedly encouraged him to wear it. Harry refers to his stepmother as the Other Woman in Spare, claiming that both he and William told their father they would forgive Camilla and welcome her into the family if Charles promised never to marry her. “Pa liked telling stories, and this was one of the best in his repertoire. “I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought,” he writes. In Spare, the Duke explains that he lost his virginity “with an older woman who liked macho horses and who treated me like a young stallion.” “I mounted her quickly, after which she spanked my ass and sent me away,” he continues. The Genuine Shock of That Prince Harry Frostbite Story (Vanity Fair)

As the leaks from the royal's forthcoming memoir make the rounds, one bit of bodily overshare has grabbed a large percentage of headlines. It's funny, yes.

[writes](https://pagesix.com/2023/01/05/prince-harry-reveals-whether-hes-circumcised-in-bombshell-spare-memoir/) in the memoir. The person who is perhaps the only one who has access to what you went through—the struggles of the monarchy, having that father and those expectations, the tragedy of losing their mother—fading into something different, something more bald. These parts are when the book—which, we should remember, few people outside of Spain have been able to read cover to cover—seems most like an exorcism so far, especially when paired with the Sussex’s Oprah interview and their Netflix documentary. (Before we go on, it should be clarified that “Willy” is what he calls his brother and “todger” is the polite term he uses to refer to his penis.) But then this: Harry noted that with the balding, William’s resemblance to their late mother had “faded.” The frostbite healed as the duke returned to England’s gentler climes, and most was well in time for the big royal wedding. But, as would be expected, the most extreme of his extremities took a little longer to get back to normal. It was a moment when Harry felt misunderstood, and worse, as though no one was even trying to understand him. So, he reportedly writes, as he walked down that aisle of Westminster in support of his brother’s new chapter in life, his “todger” was ailing. [this detail about his most private parts up](https://nypost.com/2023/01/06/prince-harry-ripped-over-frostbitten-penis-bombshell/) out of nowhere in the book, which has dominated headlines nearly everywhere since the first excerpts of it leaked on Wednesday. As we’ve processed the torrent of leaks from Spare this week, it’s almost been hard to keep track of it all. The content of its pages has seeped into the water table and osmosis-ed into your brain, where it’ll fester for a bit, then harden.

Harry speculates that Kate was “on edge,” as she was now “going to be compared to, and forced to compete with, Meg.” In Spare, Harry tries to set the story straight on a much-reported kerfuffle over bridesmaid dresses between Meghan and Kate before Meghan and Harry’s wedding. The British tabloids initially reported that a disagreement between the bride and her future sister-in-law ended with Kate in tears. Harry says in Spare that things got off to a promising start even before he introduced Meghan to his family, when he realized that his brother and sister-in-law were fans of Meghan’s TV show Suits. “All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph,” he writes. The Guardian, Us Weekly, and The Telegraph say that they have acquired copies of Spare, and Page Six claims to have gotten its hands on excerpts. Now, leaked excerpts from [Harry’s forthcoming memoir ](https://time.com/6245103/prince-harry-spare-memoir-revelations/)Spare dive into greater detail about the rift between Harry, William, and their wives. 10 publication date, reportedly dives into far more detail about how Harry’s once-close relationship with William, heir to the throne, deteriorated over the last several years—including an explosive scene in which Harry says that William grabbed him by the collar and Harry claimed in the Netflix series, which was released last month, that in January 2020 his brother had “screamed” at him in front of their grandmother, the Queen, about Harry’s plan to leave England with his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry Memoir 'Spare': All the Biggest Revelations (Rolling Stone)

Prince Harry opens up about a fight with Prince William and Meghan Markle, along with sharing details about his time in combat in Afghanistan.

He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” recounts Harry in the book, per The Guardian. In another startling revelation, Harry’s penis, or “todger,” was frostbitten after he made an expedition to the North Pole in 2011. “While the ears and cheeks were already healing, the todger wasn’t. And after he tried on the outfit in front of him, “They both howled. “It came from somewhere deep inside, somewhere that needed to be excavated, and it was obvious that I could use some help with the job,” Harry explained. She was terribly sad,” Harry said about the encounter. Remember when Prince Harry was on the cover of The Sun for wearing a Nazi uniform? [Meghan Markle](https://www.rollingstone.com/t/meghan-markle/), he opened up about a particularly difficult time in their relationship.
