What TikTok Told Us About the Economy in 2022 (The New York Times)

From Barbiecore to revenge travel, social media trends gave us a clear picture of the forces reshaping the economy.

New [home sales have declined](https://www.census.gov/construction/nrs/pdf/newressales.pdf) notably. In the process, they have helped to fuel strong demand for houses and popularized interior decorating trends — including “ [grandmillennial](https://www.marthastewart.com/8240244/grandmillennial-design-explainer),” also affectionately called “granny chic” on Pinterest, in which the young-ish repurpose floral wallpaper and old-style lamps for a cozy but updated look. The mismatch underscored that key parts of the American economy are struggling to reach a new equilibrium after pandemic-induced tumult, even if people want to be in [#vacationmode](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/vacationmode?lang=en). But another big trend of the year — buying used clothes, [#thrifted](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/thrifted?lang=en) — may have more accurately captured the year’s changing economic energy. The Top Stories of 2022 | Bethel University (Bethel University News)

As we look back upon the top articles of the year, it's clear what matters most to the Bethel community: construction on campus, expanding academic programs, ...

[Centered on Jesus is an online PDF](https://www.bethel.edu/news/publications/lenten-devotional) that consists of page-long devotionals, each featuring a Bible verse, a 200-300-word reflection, and then a closing prayer. Over the summer, Bethel University reached a historic milestone, completing the first outdoor track at Royal Stadium. [Called to More campaign](https://www.bethel.edu/called/) was launched in 2016 with a stretch goal of $150 million, well beyond what was recommended by advisors. But the decision proved to be the right one, both for Brodt, who is Ojibwe, and the many Native American voices he lifts up. Joel Johnson ’96, GS’07, a former standout Bethel athlete and coach, served as head coach of the U.S. Like years passed, Welcome Week 2022 was filled with energy and excitement as Bethel's newest Royals were embraced by the community. On April 26, more than 300 Bethel community members gathered to celebrate Bethel’s 150-year history—and to make some of their own. “Graduates of the MSMS program will leave Bethel with new knowledge, new experiences, and new relationships—all of which will equip them to excel in whatever is next on their health science pathway," says Chad Osgood, Bethel's dean of business, leadership, health, and social sciences. When Bethel was founded in 1871, it would have been hard to fathom how much the world would change in the next 150 years—let alone how much Bethel itself would change. As the year comes to a close, it’s important to reflect on how far we’ve come, to measure our growth, successes, dreams, desires, and goals so we can look to the future with faith and hope for what’s to come.

Fiesta Bowl 2022: Michigan vs. TCU live stream, watch online, TV ... (CBSSports.com)

The Wolverines and Horned Frogs battle in a College Football Playoff game featuring contrasting styles.

In the biggest game of the season so far, the road game against arch-rival [Ohio State](https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/OHIOST/ohio-state-buckeyes/), McCarthy threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns. [Cade McNamara](/college-football/players/3121123/cade-mcnamara/) got the nod for the Wolverines, but McCarthy eventually got into the game in the second half. [Kansas State](https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/KSTATE/kansas-state-wildcats/) in the conference title game, but that loss didn't keep it out of the College Football Playoff. In this game, I think Michigan's experience and defense are able to win out, but TCU is able to hang around and take it down to the wire. He was one of Michigan's biggest stars in the team's win over Ohio State with seven total tackles and a pair of passes defended. This will be a fascinating game because the ways in which these two teams win are very different. [Michigan](https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/MICH/michigan-wolverines/) takes on No. 3 [TCU](https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/TCU/tcu-horned-frogs/) in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday. McCarthy](/college-football/players/26695214/j-j-mccarthy/): McCarthy started last season's College Football Playoff matchup against Georgia on the bench. In Sonny Dykes' first season as coach of the Horned Frogs, being in the mix for the Big 12 championship would have been considered a win. The Wolverines defense has been rock-solid all season, but it will be tested by the high-powered Horned Frogs offense. At this time last season, the Wolverines were underdogs to the eventual national champion

Michigan vs. TCU live score, updates, highlights from 2022 College ... (Sporting News)

The game is the first semifinal in this year's College Football Playoff, and it carries some intrigue. On the line is a berth in the national championship game ...

Donovan Edwards races through the TCU front seven for 54 yards, brining the Wolverines on the brink of the end zone. The Horned Frogs snuff out the lateral play, pinning Colston Loveland behind the line of scrimmage to deny the Wolverines a score. A new set of downs on the goal-line for the Horned Frogs. 4:40 p.m.: Giving Duggan time in the pocket is a dangerous strategy. The ball is headed back to the Horned Frogs. Duggan hit Johnston with a 46-yard dot to put TCU in position to bag yet another score on the first play from kickoff. 5:10 p.m.: For all of Michigan's struggles on the offensive side of the ball, its defense is keeping things tight. 7:56 p.m.: Duggan back out on the field on fourth and one. TCU in prime position to add more points on the board here. 8:04 p.m.: The call on the field of no targeting stands. However, the ball slips out of the safety's grasp at the last second, offering the Wolverines a reprieve. But when it was all said and done, it was the Horned Frogs who sealed their spot in the national championship with a Fiesta Bowl win.

Live updates: No. 2 Michigan vs. No. 3 TCU in the 2022 Fiesta Bowl (NCAA.com)

In the College Football Playoff semifinal, No. 2 Michigan faces No. 3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl Dec. 31. Here's everything you need to know.

The Wolverines looked poised to take a quick lead, but the TCU stood tall in the redzone, sniffing out a 'Philly Special' trick play attempt by Michigan on 4th and goal. But in a goal-line scrum, the ball was coughed up and recovered by the Horned Frogs! Horned Frogs quarterback Max Duggan threw for 89 yards, a touchdown and a pick, adding 30 yards and a score on the ground. The Wolverines had three turnovers between McCarthy's pick-six, a fumble and one on downs. Blake Moody chips home a 21-yard field goal for his third score on the night as the Wolverines once again reach the redzone and fail to reach paydirt. The Wolverines got the ball back with favorable field position thanks to a Mike Sainristil interception of Max Duggan near midfield. The game has once again got away from Michigan with a second interception returned for a touchdown in the game. This time, Max Duggan took a back seat to backup running back Emari Demarcado, who has filled in nicely for the hurt Kendre Miller. Three plays, six points for the Michigan offense, all thanks to the legs of J.J. Roman Wilson ran it into the endzone from 18 yards out (punctuated by a helicopter ride) and Ronnie Wilson added the two-point conversion to cut the Wolverines' deficit to just three points with nearly the entire final quarter to be played. Max Duggan punched it in again for his second rushing touchdown of the night. Madness in the Fiesta Bowl.— Dean Straka (@DWStraka49)
