Tilly's Christmas Crackers gathers together some of my favourites from the stories we've covered in Tilly's Travels on t'Internet in 2022.
Towards the end of my journey, I found a vending machine that sells pizza! My personal favourite big brand has been the introduction of a LUSH vending machine in London, as well as Japan. We all know that single use plastics are causing issues with pollution, and Lavazza Professional have been leading the way in the vending industry to develop biodegradable cups, sourced from sustainable suppliers. This is another vending machine I wish we had in the UK, as I’m sure it would save some time. If you have spotted any, let us know in the comments. Subway announced this year that they were trialling some of the most popular subs, salads and wraps in vending machines in a range of locations. The area is open 24/7 and is hopefully preventing the rush. The robotic vending machine was later launched to the public at the Super Bowl, to a great public response. I am of course referring to Nara Prefecture in Japan, launching a vending machine specialising in offering fresh crepes, cheesecakes and other delightful desserts. I think that book vending machines may continue to be a hot topic into 2023, I am still waiting for the launch of such a dessert vending machine in the UK, doesn’t this sound amazing? Hello and welcome to a special festive edition of Tilly’s Travels entitled, for one issue only, Tilly’s Christmas Crackers!
Just as the humble chocolate advent calendar has morphed into giant boxes full of cosmetics, cheese and booze (although rarely all at once), ...
Inside, each cracker has a silver polishing cloth to keep the gifts looking their best, a festive crown, a motto and an Asprey balloon. As for the crackers themselves, they are finished with the company’s purple engine turning pattern and signature purple ribbons. The set featured here costs a whopping £1,400 for just six crackers, but that price starts to make sense when you realise what’s inside.
A set of vintage Christmas crackers are on sale at a Bridgnorth antiques centre and are just waiting to be pulled.
The Old Mill Antiques Centre, in Mill Street, is open seven days a week, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The crackers are priced at £22. The box of eight Tom Smith ‘Animates The World of Survival’ crackers date from the 1960s and are available at the Old Mill Antiques Centre in Low Town.
