"In those days we had to read the newspaper Pravda. In short, Russia is going in the wrong direction." That is very dangerous." "I just published a book in English about how people in Stalin's Russia removed from group photographs those who were declared 'enemy of the people'. In the same way as in Stalin's Russia." This is why the war in Ukraine is happening today," says pensioner Ludmila, who has come to lay flowers at the Solovki Stone. So, our faculty broke the partnership and the Bard College name was removed from the stands displayed in the corridors of our faculty using exactly black ink. "They are very smart and they understand very well what is happening now in Russia. And, for these people, providing approval to those who do protest is a way of disagreeing with what is happening in Russia." It is also the product of Russia's past. "All kinds of freedoms are in deep crisis." I am sure that the future of our country belongs to you."

Facebook's Going Back to Only Using Algorithms to Curate Its News ... (Gizmodo)

The platform's news tab had been partially monitored by humans, but Meta wants its social apps to focus on short form video.

Meta, overall, has bigger things on its mind, like pursuing [the metaverse](https://gizmodo.com/one-year-after-facebook-went-meta-its-built-a-multiver-1849715493) while copying TikTok in pursuit of that sweet short form video revenue. Even that limited investment in having a human help with news curation seems to be on the outs. The leaked [Facebook Papers](https://gizmodo.com/facebook-papers-news-feed-conservative-backlash-hate-sp-1848891557) showed that after former President Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, the platform started avoiding moderating right wing pages that spread disinformation and fake news. Human hands mostly dealt with the Top Stories section on the News tab, but come 2023 that will be handled by the algorithm entirely. Apparently, the company sees news links as such a small reason that people come to Facebook, that they’re actively looking to scale back any features dealing with news. In an email statement, a meta spokesperson told Gizmodo “Most people do not come to Facebook for news, and as a business it doesn’t make sense to over invest in areas that don’t align with user preferences.” The company has said that less than 3% of what people see in their feed are news links.

Berkeley students scream together for art project 'OUTCRY' (UC Berkeley)

What began in 2018 as a series of 100 photographs of women from all different backgrounds screaming — against the patriarchy, against white supremacy, against ...

It’s wonderful to have her bring it to her Berkeley, now that it’s four times the size, and that she is able to show it for the first time on such a monumental and public scale as it is on BAMPFA’s massive outdoor screen. And so, it’s really great to have the opportunity to have this work in such a public, monumental space as that massive screen during this extremely problematic political landscape that we find ourselves in. The project doesn’t really end for the participants at the end of their sessions. At BAMPFA, all of the new portraits I made of Berkeley students were added to the exhibition sequence on the massive outdoor screen on Nov. I often put an OUTCRY exhibition up, then facilitate scream sessions and build on the show by adding the new portraits of womxn in that community, so participants can see themselves in the show. I found out a couple months later from her social worker that she had gotten up in front of a group of 40 people and told her story of abuse as a young person. Supreme Court, despite the fact that the majority of people in this country would like womxn to have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. She came to the session and she ended up screaming and talking to me. I usually talk about why I wanted to start the project and about how my voice has literally saved me. I wanted to use this project as a way to continue to propel the #MeToo movement, by encouraging womxn to speak up and out for themselves in any situation. And so, I wanted to create that kind of space for womxn who hadn’t had the opportunity to experience that. I was completely horrified and, frankly, a bit terrified that someone who was openly sexist, racist, xenophobic and a predator was voted into the highest office in the free world.

As a result, local, national, and international investors collectively placed over $1.5 billion of orders for the bonds. “The state has a long track record of conservative debt management practices,” noted Moody’s in its report. Following these presentations, Moody’s and S&P affirmed the State’s bond ratings of Aa2 and AA+, respectively, with stable outlooks. This demonstrates the market’s continued confidence in the State’s ability to prudently manage its long-term financial responsibilities.” Proceeds of the bonds will provide critical funding to support new and existing infrastructure projects. “We are very pleased with the results of the bond sale,” said Gov.
