No matter how much body wash you use to mask your natural scent of the pool, one simple lick or beam of sweat brings the smell right back. To most people, swimming is seen as just a sport or having a little splash in the pool. The finals will likely be closer and faster, but Ledecky looks strong with that morning performance. Swimming fast requires intense physical and mental exertion, which is all the more reason for competitive swimmers to focus on what goes into their bodies.

Damascus - Happy Halloween! - The Trek (The Trek)

We passed through a few final open fields then left the Grayson Highlands behind. We already can't wait to come back. The trail climbed up near Whitetop ...

The trail climbed over a few PUDs and meandered parallel to the Creeper Trail for a while. It was nice to feel like we were part of the real world once again. We headed back to the Dollar General that we resupplied at. We met a few other SOBOs (Back Track & Lennon) in town and enjoyed a chill afternoon at the Broken Fiddle Hostel. Damascus is known as the friendliest town on trail and home of the Trail Days festival. We had ate the last items in our food bags for breakfast and sought sustenance upon entering town. Once full on Subway footlongs and fountain soda, we checked out one of the several gear stores next door. The morning seemed humid and we knew the rain would continue. Hayley enjoyed the night reading by the fire and Eric had enough signal to play chess online. Soon the wind died down and the fog evaporated. It showered on and off a few times but nothing to crazy. To our surprise we had the loft to ourselves.

BCB After Dark: Happy Halloween Chicago Cubs (bleedcubbieblue.com)

The late-night/early-morning spot for Cubs fans asks about free agent catcher Christian Vázquez.

Whale wanted the Monster to have the mind of a ten-year-old and the hormones of a fifteen-year-old. In that tiny hovel, the monster makes his first friend and the hermit’s prayer for a friend is answered. There is a sign of genuine Christian charity when the Monster meets the blind hermit in the woods. The part of the same scene where the Monster tries to save a statue of Christ by ripping him off the cross he’s nailed on was ordered deleted by the Production Office. The theme of the novel and the film Frankenstein is science gone too far and man substituting himself for God. Pretorius, the main villain of the piece who convinces Henry Frankenstein to build a mate for the Monster, has been the subject of a lot of analysis. Much like Frankenstein credited the Monster as “?”, The Bride of Frankenstein credits “The Monster’s Mate” as “?”. The Bride of Frankenstein pushes a lot more boundaries and has a lot more going on in it than the other films in the series. Whale had no desire to make a sequel to Frankenstein, but the amount of money that film made demanded that Universal make another one. I was going to skip the movie part because it’s a holiday and our traffic will probably be down, but tomorrow’s not a holiday and I know that most of you read this feature the next day. The late-nighters are encouraged to get the party started, but everyone else is invited to join in as you wake up the next morning and into the afternoon. Come on in out of the rain, if you were going to the [World Series](https://www.sbnation.com/world-series) tonight.
