PSG chaos around Mbappe caused by club's lack of culture (ESPN)

Why does it seem like chaos is the predominant theme around Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world's wealthiest teams and one boasting Neymar, Lionel Messi ...

They didn't even buy the team because of the potential financial benefits that come with owning a soccer team that wins a lot of soccer games. They've ruthlessly expanded across the world and hired some of the smartest analysts; they seem to revel, in a sense, at being the brainiac bad guy. There's a culture of open-mindedness and aggression that I think works particularly well because of the players they tend to target: undervalued talents rather than established stars. Time for PSG 'to keep the chasing pack at distance,' says coach Galtier (Playing for 90)

Already past mid-October and only four teams from Europe's Big Five leagues remain undefeated: Napoli, Atalanta, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

With the qualification to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 still pending, Galtier surely has a point when it comes to instilling a win-early mentality in his pupils. Vitinha didn’t train on Thursday but made the list for the game, though he is expected to start on the bench tonight with Marco Verratti and Fabian Ruiz repeating their appearance on the starting lineup along with the returning Renato Sanches (whose most recent game came on a 16-minute outing against Nice on Oct. Mbappe sits third in the top goalscorers table with 8 goals (none of them from the penalty spot compared to Neymar/David’s two PKs each). Last Sunday marked the return to last season’s 4-3-3 system with four men in the back instead of the oft-used five in Galtier’s preferred formation (three center-backs, two wing-backs). They hope to keep it going tonight at the Stade François Coty in a very familiar clash: Galtier and Jordan, father and son, going against each other while sitting on the benches. Defeating their biggest rival (and contender) in the history of the club, on the largest stage and under the brightest lights, was definitely a must to quiet down the deafening narratives and bring some calm to the Parc des Princes – if only for a few days’ time.

Ajaccio 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain: Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe ... (Eurosport.com)

Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to six points with a comfortable 3-0 win over AC Ajaccio at Stade Francois Coty.

Messi has his second assist of the game, as he plays another through ball to Mbappe to his left inside the penalty area. It is a sublime assist from Mbappe, as he plays the give-and-go back to the Argentine inside the box with a backheel that takes out Gonzalez, and Messi taps the ball home to surely seal the win for PSG. 21’ - JUST OVER - That is the home side's best chance of the match! More often than not, he played just behind Mbappe as a second striker, and he linked up well with his team-mate as both players were involved in all three of the Paris goals. The 35-year-old made a total of four key passes in this match, with two of those becoming assists for Mbappe. As the game progressed, the holes in the home side's defence opened up, and it led to Paris' first goal, which was clinically worked and finished beautifully by Mbappe.

Neymar and Ramos will be back from suspension for that one as the Ligue 1 giants look to book their knockout ticket with a game to spare. However, seeing Mbappe and Messi link up like that makes you wonder if more is to come from what is already a consistent Parisien side. "It was a balanced first half," said Neymar's replacement in the No. Mbappe has had to remain patient for some of that genius to work in his favor, but it finally did here to devastating effect. The 35-year-old turned provide once more as Mbappe finished powerfully from the edge of the box, but it was the pair's chemistry on that special second goal which really stood out. Instead, it was a moment of sheer brilliance from both Mbappe and Messi which saw Les Parisiens double their advantage through the South American.
