Barcelona - Celta Vigo live online: score, stats and updates, LaLiga ... (AS English)

Camp Nou is the setting for the last of Sunday's games as Xavi's side will look for the win that will take the Catalan side back to the LaLiga summit.

The Catalan's form in Europe is a different story where they are in a tight spot in a tough group after back-to-back defeats to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. It was great when Greece won the Euros and it was really special when Leicester won the league in England. Barcelona have been on a tremendous run since the 2022-23 LaLiga campaign got underway in August and are currently on a six game winning run. Celta Vigo, meanwhile, have had an up-and-down start to the campaign. Still nothing to trouble Marchesin in the Celta goal however. A start at Camp Nou very much in keeping with the script... It’s special and healthy for the game when a smaller club beats a big one. Remember Coudet the Celta coach is not in the Catalan capital this evening as he had to return to his native Argentina for personal reasons. The game resumes and the German stays on the pitch but looks to be moving awkwardly. Celta now well in the game. Barcelona free and the Catalan side opt to go short. the visitors have yet to manage a shot on goal.

For the third consecutive game, Barcelona put in a poor performance. Fortunately for the Catalans, Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved their blushes.

If they want to avoid the embarrassment of failing to qualify out of the group stage, they need a win against Inter. But the display is certainly going to be a point of worry for both Xavi and the players. It was left dangerously in the area as Pedri raced for a tap-in.

Barcelona moved back to the top of the La Liga table with a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo at Camp Nou, thanks to a first half goal from Pedri.

Strand Larsen did get the ball in the back of the net for the visitors but Barcelona escaped when it was ruled out for an offside in the build-up. Barcelona were dominant in the first 45 minutes and were good value for their half-time lead but Celta came roaring back after the break and had chances to equalise. Despite the loss of some key men, Barca took an early lead when Gavi teed up Pedri to open the scoring in the 17th minute.

We have to go for the second goal and be more ambitious." The same thing happened against Mallorca and Inter. An average of almost three goals per game. The Blaugrana squad has been plagued by injuries. This week, Barcelona have to get back to their best. A similar statement to the one he made in Mallorca: "In the first half we were good, but in the second we dropped off and we can't allow that. In Mallorca he broke the deadlock with a goal, but against Inter and Celta he was not the decisive player he had been at the start of the season. MARCA looks at the key points to understand the current situation. And Xavi needs all the players to be at 100% in this crucial stretch of the season, especially taking into account the many injuries the team has suffered. But in the last three weeks, the number of players with injuries has been increasing and the defence has been the most affected. Despite struggling at the back in many parts of the games, and thanks also to the excellent form of Ter Stegen, the Catalans have only conceded one goal over the three games. The Catalans are going through a small slump after the international break precisely at the most crucial moment of the season, as this week they play Inter in the Champions League and then comes the first Clasico of the season with the league lead in the balance.

Barcelona remain short of funds heading into the January transfer window.

Tottenham and Leeds have both been linked with the pacey forward, but Traore’s desire to make it as a Barcelona player has been no secret ever since he left the club for the first time in 2015. Graham Potter has spoken about the value of the France international, but he could feel there is more talented, younger stars available to him with his newfound significant transfer budget. The message is loud and clear from the Barca boss, and it means several players in England could follow the likes of Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen and join Barca – but who? With Sergio Busquets leaving at the end of the season, Barca will need midfield reinforcements and Tielemans could prove exactly that. More and more we have to focus on the market of free players. Barring wages, the moves are largely risk-free and has also provided the team with a very strong core group of players fully committed to the project.

The logic seems to dictate Xavi will go with a more traditional midfield look and start his captain as the anchor, but Gavi’s running and intensity are also hugely appreciated by the boss and we could just as easily see a more attacking trio of De Jong, Gavi and Pedri. Frenkie’s passing, vision and intelligent runs could prove crucial to break down the Italians’ defense, and De Jong seems to be a lock for one of the three central spots. Alejandro Balde has done more than enough to earn his spot by now, but Xavi is yet to start the youngster in the Champions League and could once again opt for the experience of either Marcos Alonso or Jordi Alba.
