How Long Does A Cat Hold A Grudge? (The Dodo)

Have you ever stepped on your cat's paws by accident and attempted to make it up to him with lots of treats and some playtime? After all, you didn't mean it ...

“A cat who was not exposed to a lot of different people early in life may be more fearful of new people later in life, and need more time to adjust to changes.” “If your cat does not like being held, you should not keep trying to hold them,” Dr. Your cat’s body language will let you know which things make him uncomfortable before it becomes too scary. And how to turn things around with your cat “If a cat has a very scary or unpleasant experience (such as having their tail stepped on, or being frightened), they will remember that very well!” “Cats make associations based on positive and negative experiences they have with people, but that does not mean we should define their responses as resentful or …

A cat is a great option for any family but especially if you can’t always be home to let the pet out to potty. CATS NEED TIME TO ADJUST: The transition for the new cat should be as smooth as possible. Cats like to climb and get up high — perhaps a top shelf can be cleared for them to hang out on or a cat tree with several levels can be added. Adding a cat to the family can be a fun and entertaining experience for all. Our cat condos have multiple levels that offer lots of climbing and high places for cats to hide and lounge. Cats come in a variety of personalities: Some can be high maintenance in their demands of love and attention, while others are more aloof, play hard to get and make their humans work for their affection.

Putting my cat to sleep broke my heart but it was the right thing to do (The National)

“Grief is the price we pay for love” is a quote from Queen Elizabeth II. The phrase feels poignant given the death of Britain's longest-reigning monarch, ...

I look to the chair she used to sleep on or places she would hide around the house. And I was OK with that, because she deserved the same comfort she had given me for so long in our time together. I will forever be grateful I had time to say a proper goodbye — something that isn’t always the case. Unfortunately, the second vet came to a similar conclusion. Her eyes were sunken, but, looking into them, I could still see the sweet little girl that I’ve loved since the moment she entered my life. The vet suspected cancer but it was irreversible kidney failure that was causing her health to decline so rapidly.

Is Declawing a Cat Cruel? Here's What You Need to Know (Green Matters)

Is cat declawing cruel? Although it can be unpleasant to have a cat scratch you, it may be better than having their claws removed altogether.

Instead of completely declawing your kitty, you can also trim their claws. Many even tend to develop various neurological issues, as a result of the procedure. You can also get them a cat tree or a scratching post, so they can scratch all they want without it bothering you. If they continue to scratch your furniture, there are various types of repellants, that deters them from scratching in certain areas. Per PETA, it's a traumatic and invasive process that involves 10 amputations of the cat's nails and joints along their paws. But luckily, there are many healthier alternatives to declawing. So if your cat enjoys going outside, you're essentially forcing them out into the world totally and utterly defenseless. "AVMA discourages declawing as an elective procedure and supports non-surgical alternatives. Declawing is completely banned in England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, and other nations. won't perform the declawing procedure because of the pain and suffering it can cause. It's still legal in the U.S. Cats can be unpredictable, and let's face it, nobody enjoys getting scratched.

How to introduce a second cat into your home (TAG24.COM)

Are you thinking of getting a second cat? Worried about how your current feline friend might take it? TAG24's cat guide has the answers to your questions.

Whenever one of the four steps gets too hard, it is a good idea to return to the previous phase and continue to take things slowly. By taking it easy, while staying incredibly patient and cautious, you should be able to introduce a second cat into your household. Introducing a second cat to a household can be a difficult process, with many fights and squabbles along the way. If there's ever the risk of serious injury, then you should of course intervene, and in any case, the cats should only directly interact for a few hours a day at the start to reduce their stress. The two cats need to finally meet and be able to interact, so don't get too hands-on. Once your new cat has arrived and settled into the new environment, the exchange of smell can begin. You need to prepare well for the introduction of a second cat. It's possible that one cat will try to attack the other, so be present throughout the process. This will destroy the trust that the new cat has in you, and could even prove dangerous. A cat owner should not spend less time with one cat as a result of getting a second cat. Whether you add another cat to your household is, of course, a personal choice. But is that a good idea and how are you supposed to go about it?
