Sevilla seemed to gain something of a foothold as the half came to an end, but have otherwise been pretty under the cosh. Promising start to the second half for the hosts. Foden drives forward before shooting low from the edge of the Sevilla box, but Bono gets down to deny him.

There's a debut for Manuel Akanji and a full debut for Sergio Gomez in the back four, with Kyle Walker and John Stones absent through injury. It's an inviting cross and Haaland thrusts out a leg at the back post for his 11th of the season and 24th in 20 Champions League appearances. Grealish seems to really like the look of Navas and shimmies inside again to tee up his team-mate. His shots might be all over the shop at the moment but his radar for a final ball is unwavering. Mir makes a bit of a nuisance of himself in the City box but Guardiola's men are able to break. All hands to the pump as Papu Gomez fouls Silva on the edge of his own box. Suso lifted it in with Ederson out of his ground, but the City keeper got a slight shove in the back from Dolberg as he attempted to throw it out. It results in his namesake Papu having Sevilla's best chance of the night, but he hacks a bouncing ball over. A goal and a couple of assists amount to a solid if not spectacular start to the Premier League season from Foden. 51st minute: Now Cancelo has a go and scuffs wide from outside the box. 73rd minute: Alvarez is quickly into the thick of things, finding De Bruyne for a left-footed strike that's deflected behind. There's a long way to go in this Champions League campaign but City are off and running in emphatic fashion.
