It was there he created an animated short titled "Tin Toy," which gained the attention of Lasseter's former employers after it won an Academy Award in 1989. At one point everyone from Paul Newman, Robin Williams, and Clint Eastwood were all eyed for the role of Woody — and that might've been the case had the "Forrest Gump" actor been unimpressed with Pixar's digital renderings.

But then also the marriage of the outraged voice of mine inside this outraged body of a toy was just undeniably great," he said. To modern audiences, Andy is the epitome of uncanny valley, but at the time, it was the unquestionable creation of an entirely new genre of cinema. No one invested in expanding their career would turn down something like "Toy Story," and Pixar fans around the world are grateful that Hanks chose to take that leap, even if his usage of the term "hyperreal" is hilariously suspect. From memes (there's a good one that has Professor Severus Snape from the "Harry Potter" franchise wearing Woody's cowboy boots that's particularly funny) to merchandise ("Kingdom Hearts 3" all the way, friends), the tiny sheriff will forever be in our hearts. One, it was like, 'I'm not sure what this is.' The computer-generated animation itself had a look that was hyperreal. To be fair, it's for a good reason — Pixar's

Unsurprisingly, then, Hanks was careful to dedicate a few words to his favourite book on the history of the Second World War, An Army At Dawn by Rick Atkinson. Unsurprisingly, both Spielberg and Hanks are very well read when it comes to the history of the Second World War. [Tom Hanks ](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/tags/tom-hanks/)succeeded in making a film so brutally accurate that it seemed to have been captured through the eyes of someone who had seen action first-hand.

Bruce Willis Once Called the 1 Movie He Did With Tom Hanks 'Dead ... (Showbiz Cheat Sheet)

Bruce Willis once opened up about the one critically panned film he starred in that he wouldn't have done again if given the chance.

Salamon was invited on the set of Bonfire by the film’s director Brian De Palma. “Brian De Palma chose to have this girl come on the set and write a book about the making of the film. One of the critics he singled out was journalist Julie Salamon. Basically, she decided to take a big s*** on a bunch of people she would never get to be in her own life,” he said. “It was stillborn, dead before it ever got out of the box. It was another film that was reviewed before it hit the screen. That movie was a fascinating enterprise from the word go,” he continued. The movie was based on a great book. The movie was rounded out with a cast that also included Melanie Griffith and Morgan Freeman, and was based on Tom Wolfe’s best-selling novel. He may not have liked critics blasting Bonfire. But there was one movie they both agreed they shouldn’t have been cast in. Despite its notable cast, and the success of its source material, the film didn’t replicate the same success as the book.
