What to look out for at Brentford on Saturday (Manchester United)

Ten Hag's first away game, a potential return for Ronaldo and a new kit feature in our list.

Cristiano has now featured in each of our last two outings: the friendly with Rayo Vallecano and our Premier League opener against Brighton. United noticeably improved after our no.7’s introduction at the weekend and he provided a good chance for Marcus Rashford shortly after coming on, only for Seagulls’ keeper Robert Sanchez to divert Rashford’s shot with his body. With Brentford set to appear in their traditional red-and-white home strip, we will be required to debut fresh wares at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday. Friday is kit launch day, so keep an eye across all of our official platforms to ensure you don’t miss out on the conversation. United have played before fervent crowds in Bangkok, Melbourne, Perth and Oslo since Ten Hag became manager, but this will be the first time our brilliant travelling Reds can cheer the side on in a Premier League match under Erik. The Dutchman praised the atmosphere at Old Trafford even in defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, but our away support is regularly among the best in the top flight.

United's final preseason game ended 1-1 against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford. A second-half goal from Amad was cancelled out by Rayo winger Alvaro Garcia.

However, it was a disappointing performance to kick off the season, and Ten Hag’s Old Trafford reign. Brentford’s preseason saw them win two games and lose two games. Manchester United’s first away game of the season sees the Red Devils travel down to London to take on Brentford.

Brentford vs Manchester United Predictions | EPL Matchweek 2 ... (Goal.com)

The Erik ten Hag era has started poorly as Brighton & Hove Albion upset Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford, their first-ever win at the stadium.

Manchester United looked much better when Ronaldo came on, so it would be beneficial for the club to start him. Manchester United couldn’t capitalize on their chances, and when they fell behind, it took the life out of them. Brentford struggled to control possession against Leicester City, and Manchester United have a stronger squad on paper. Manchester United put on more pressure in the second half after going down 2-0, with Ronaldo taking a shot and setting up teammates, though the Red Devils couldn’t finish. He should start up front against Brentford, leading the way for Man Utd. But, staring down a big hole, the Bees were resilient and overcame adversity to walk away with a point. Dasilva, who subbed on in the 59th minute, scored the equalizer with four minutes remaining. Brentford could have laid down and given up after falling behind by two, but they chugged along and fought their way back. Manchester United (+100) After strong preseason play, United started the EPL season on the wrong foot. However, Brentford responded late, thanks to goals by Ivan Toney and Josh Dasilva, to walk away with a point. Will Brentford carry their late-match heroics back home and walk away with three points this time?

Brentford take on Manchester United this weekend, here we have how to watch, team news, head-to-head, odds, prediction and everything you need to know.

It’ll be a tight, well-contested fixture – but we think ten Hag will nick it to obtain his first ever competitive win for the Red Devils. Manchester United suffered a bitter 2 – 1 defeat at Old Trafford to a brilliant Brighton Hove Albion side who simply outclassed them in their own backyard. He’s still out, so we may see Cristiano Ronaldo obtain a start after sitting on the bench to begin with against Brighton.

BRENTFORD have confirmed the £12.5million signing of Denmark international Mikkel Damsgaard. The Sampdoria star has joined the Bees on a five-year dea.

“We think Mikkel can play as one of our ‘eights’ in a 4-3-3 system or as a ‘ten’. He can also play on the wing. That is a great asset to have in the squad. “Importantly, he is a player that will fit into our dressing room. He is a great character, he wants to work hard, he wants to work for the team, and he wants to develop.” He also wants to play forward and can do so by either passing or dribbling. “Mikkel is capable of creating and scoring goals and he has the ability to run with the ball past players.

Brentford vs Manchester United should be a brilliant game in west London on Saturday as the pressure is, once again, cranking up on the Red Devils.

It seems like it will not be smooth sailing in Erik ten Hag’s early days in charge and this trip to Brentford has an upset alert flashing all over it. On the pitch Erik ten Hag didn’t see many positives as his side were dominated by Brighton and deserved to lose their opening game. From Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to leave and now being stuck at the club to Erik ten Hag tasting defeat in his first game in charge and the botched attempts to sign Marko Arnautovic ( fan unrest reportedly brought that deal to its knees), it remains a bit of a mess. The Bees continue to fly under the radar and are determined to make sure there is no Sophomore slump for them this season as they’ve made yet more savvy pickups this summer. Erik ten Hag lost his first Premier League game in charge of United, as the 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton laid bare all of the issues the Dutch coach is trying to solve. That is a lot to try and sort out whilst at the same time trying to usher in a new possession-based style and sign new players to fit that system.

Ronaldo came off the bench against Brighton and we await an update from Erik ten Hag on the centre-forward this Friday, to see if he could be in contention to start. The Denmark international started his competitive debut in a 'false-nine' role but the fact Cristiano Ronaldo has been able to step up his training this week suggests last term's top scorer may be edging closer to full fitness. One of the reasons behind their surge towards safety was the introduction of Christian Eriksen, but he will be representing United this time around, as a result of moving to Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer.

Chelsea have scored just 34 goals from an expected figure of 32.1 since the turn of the year with Liverpool (46), Man City (50) and Tottenham (51) all showing far greater numbers in the final third. They are going places and are playing with supreme energy whilst Chelsea - on evidence of the last six months - are stagnating. I'm expecting much greater fizz, enthusiasm and spark from Cooper's boys as Premier League football returns to the City Ground for the first time in 23 years and 82 days, the longest-ever gap between a team's matches in Premier League history. I'm expecting a raucous, cup-like, atmosphere - something David Moyes will be keen for his team to manage in the opening exchanges. My faith in Ralph Hasenhuttl to get Southampton rolling and playing with confidence and threat at some stage of this season should be enough to keep Saints above the drop zone. Fulham look a lovely price to me at 2/1 with Sky Bet. That makes his price of 7/1 with Sky Bet to score anytime rather silly in a game Newcastle are very much fancied to get something from. Here we have a side that were the top away scorers in all four divisions (50) last season - scoring four more than next best Wigan (46). Fragile Wolves are very vulnerable. Performances have not been there to fall back on either, illustrated by an expected goals metric at home of 21.81 last season - only Norwich posted a lower total. I've been swimming against a very anti-Leicester narrative for the past few weeks ( have backed them for a top six finish) therefore I feel obliged to follow them in here to get a result. Unfortunately this has been noted by the markets where the under 2.5 goals line is a skinny 8/11 with Sky Bet so there is no real enthusiasm for me to get involved. Despite their very resolute showing at Selhurst Park, where William Saliba and Aaron Ramsdale came to the fore, that number feels a little high to me.

Manchester United Vs Brentford Key Match-Up: Lisandro Martínez ... (Sports Illustrated)

The second Premier League fixture should provide an interesting contest between Manchester United's newest defender and Brentford's in-form striker.

Toney finished last year with twelve goals in his debut Premier League season. The centre-forward attempted twenty-six headed shots last season, the most of any striker in the League last season. Toney's multi-faceted style of play should test United's new signing in his ability to read the game - something which the striker may rather aim to punish Maguire, due to his fallibilities in stepping-up and reading of dangerous build-up play. Martínez, as a definitive Erik ten Hag signing, started the first game of the season and will be assumed to continue in his role alongside Harry Maguire. With ten Hag's Manchester United looking to get up and running, the match should produce some interesting match-ups, as evidenced from the tightly fought fixtures last season. Having suffered defeats to the hands of Brighton at Old Trafford, Manchester United will be keen to bounce back from their embarrassing first Premier League match under Erik ten Hag.

He scored three goals in five games during the preseason, and if he plays through the middle here, he should have chances to get his season off to a good start. We saw enough from Man United in the preseason to believe that the performance against Brighton might be a one-off. Brentford scored two goals last week and gave up two, which gives us hope that Man United’s stuttering attack should be able to get into gear against this team. In Ivan Toney, they have a striker who knows where the goal is, and he’ll be a handful for Man United, as will Josh Dasilva. Dasilva spent last season out injured but was highly thought of before that. During the preseason, we saw that a front three of Martial, with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford out wide, could work.
