Mark Cavendish reportedly on team's shopping list of future signings.
Quillot was at pains to point out that while Paris will lend its name and image to the expanded project, reportedly to be dubbed Paris Cycling Project, and the team will have its HQ in the city, no financial backing from the city and no public money will be provided at all. Mark Cavendish, out of contract with QuickStep-AlphaVinyl at the end of the season, is reportedly on the teams's radar as a potential signing for 2023. Didier Quillot, chief executive of France's Ligue de Football Professionel and one of the brains behind the project, told the newspaper that the backing of the team was due to Paris city council's desire to boost the image of Paris as the world capital of cycling and boost bike use among its citizens.

Paris had said Athena became 'completely unresponsive' one point after welcoming her into the world in early 2021, with her heart beating at more than 300 times a minute compared to the normal 120 mark. She can be seen relaxed and calm before the ceremony, dressed in a white dressing gown as the team get her glammed up. Adding to the glitz and glamour, a giant cross, illuminated with Hollywood style bulbs stands besides the display, no doubt a backdrop for family photos throughout the day.

The St Michel - Auber93 rider's rear mech appears to have seized up. Her experience will surely be invaluable as she hopes to guide Demi Vollering to victory in the general classification. I have to say, after this race was announced a year ago, I was a little surprised that the Dutch star didn't postpone her retirement to allow her to compete as a rider. With just a lone rider off the front, the peloton isn't too concerned so take the opportunity to fuel, water and take on ice packs. Majerus looks merely frustrated but Castrique went down hard and has to abandon the race already. Her tongue hangs out as she increases her lead to over 40 seconds, the biggest gap of any breakaway group so far.

77km to go: Amandine Fouquenet (Arkea-Samsic) jumps off the front of the bunch and builds an advantage of a couple of seconds, but is soon swallowed up by the chasing pack. 81km to go: The peloton is strung out initially, but is now bunched back together and it all calms down. Some even fancy that Marianne Vos (Jumbo–Visma) might win it and take the yellow jersey. A solo rider, Morgane Coston (Arkea) is now trying to bridge across and is about 14sec down. The breakaway is duly reeled in, and Marianne Vos is led out expertly by Jumbo-Visma, bursting away to take a comfortable victory in the dash for the line. 48km to go: There is a massive injection of pace from the main bunch approaching the intermediate sprint, so their green-jersey hopefuls can fight it out for the points. 30km to go: Henrietta Christie (Human Powered Health) powers across to Allinn up front, and keeps on going, launching a solo attack of her own. 15km to go: Gladys Verhulst (Le Col-Wahoo) has grabbed a 26sec lead in front of the peloton with a solo effort. 26km to go: That was a hotly-contested race for the second intermediate sprint point. She still has a lead of 12sec but will doubtless be swallowed up by the bunch before the next sprint point. 21km to go: Next up will be the solitary categorised climb of the day. Ysland (Uno-X Pro Cycling) made a break for it, but was overhauled ... she does have a solitary KOM point to show for her efforts.

Since then, she has covered everything from the Tour Series to the Tour de France. As well as the Women’s WorldTour, Matilda loves following cyclo-cross and is a recent convert to downhill mountain biking. “It’s not concurrent with the Tour de France, but it’s part of it, in [ASO’s] eyes,” Liggett said. Things have grown and changed so much in the future but we knew nothing else and we just did what we needed to do.” The Tour that starts in Paris will be a world away from the Tours of the 1980s, and it’s a sight the Originals are happy to see. Being in Paris is a special moment for them: remembering the past, reminding the cycling world of what they did first, but also a celebration of how far their sport has come. Wife of well-known cycling commentator Phil Liggett, she had spent much of her life involved in cycling, but managing a team at the women’s Tour de France was a new challenge. Women’s teams were few and far between in Great Britain the 1980s, experienced team managers even rarer, but with Liggett’s background in cycling and sports massage. Vingegaard, 25 and a professional cyclist for only three years, held an insurmountable lead as the Tour prepared to roll into Paris.
He said he could not be happier for Vingegaard and that the day was “a dream scenario.” And only one will be celebrated in his home country this summer as the king of cycling. The only other Dane to win the Tour was Bjarne Riis in 1996, and a decade later Riis admitted that he had doped to win the race. On one descent during Stage 18, Pogacar crashed on a section of gravel as he and Vingegaard zoomed down a hill nearly side by side. If Vingegaard was familiar at all with Tour history, or Danish racing history, it was possible that he expected the question. He took off on a breakaway and mercilessly dictated a fast pace, challenging the notion at 6-foot-3 that light, smaller riders — like Vingegaard — are naturally the best climbers. He might even add to his three stage wins in this year’s Tour if he crosses the line first on Sunday. On the daunting Mont Ventoux, he left Pogacar behind to record one of the fastest times ever for that legendary climb. He’s stepped up from last year, he’s taken control of things from the beginning, and he’s proved he’s a strong rider.” Pogacar, who was battling Vingegaard for the overall lead, couldn’t keep up. He had done what he had come to do, and his astonishing accomplishment was sinking in. During every day of searing heat that at times rose above 100 degrees, melting pavement and sidelining some riders with heat exhaustion, he said, he had steeled himself for them.

It's always such a treat to see these sumptuous aerial views on a sunny day - enough to being a tingle to the spine and a shiver of wistful reflection. If Jonas Rutsch (EF Education-EasyPost) does the honours, it's Slovenia's Jan Tratnik (Bahrain Victorious) who opens up a small gap on the ride up towards the Arc de Triomphe. With the gap up to 10 seconds, Bisseger - who had that nightmare yesterday in the TT - led the quintet through the intermediate sprint to take some extra prize money for his EF team. A few minutes of worry for the man in yellow, I imagine... He was tearfully disappointed after Stage 18 but he's probably now accepted that the best climber won the KOM classification, after all. It's just as those escapees were pegged back at the conclusion of the first lap. Ineos Grenadiers are leading the chase with the gap just eight seconds. He came within 17 seconds of being eliminated on the stage to Peyragudes but lived to fight another day. It comes back together around the Arc de Triomphe after just one too many riders bridged over to the break. Ewan has had a rotten race - but he won here in 2020 and so cannot be discounted turning things round at the eleventh hour. I remember that well because I was right there in the VIP zone at the finish for what was the last of Lance Armstrong's now-asterisked-to-oblivion Tour wins. Can this five-man move go the distance?
Rolling report as this year's race enjoys its traditional conclusion on the Champs Elysées. Join Luke McLaughlin.
54km to go: The peloton, which is now strung out after the attacks at the front, wheels around the Arc de Triomphe for the first time. 25km to go: The advantage for this five-man break has risen to 20secs. On the road, the break’s lead is shaved to six seconds. 19km to go: The likes of Lotto Soudal are working desperately to set up a sprint. 23km to go: Schachmann continues to put in a massive effort at the front, dragging his breakaway companions along, before dropping back behind them and taking a ‘rest’ of sorts by shielding from the wind. 15km to go: The break’s advantage drops to under 10 seconds. Ewan looked unhappy to be boxed in by Kristoff. A really bad Tour de France for the Australian and for Lotto Soudal. But to finish off in style like this, to win stage 15 and then again on 21, on the most beautiful stage for a sprinter, it’s just unbelievable.” 12km to go: Cracking ride by the four up front, this is. 7.5km to go: The riders round the right-hand bend which leads up to the start-finish line for the penultimate time. It’s a privilege to wear a jersey in the Tour de France. For sure I enjoyed it today also although I was only second in the mountains classification ... it’s sort of a little achievement, as well.” Thomas and Ganna on the right side, me on the left.
Jumbo-Visma cracked Tadej Pogačar to avenge 2020, and Geraint Thomas hits the podium as the 'best of the rest' in a thrilling race.
Some will appear in post-Tour critériums, others will head to the beach, and some click right back into the pedals for next week’s Clásica San Sebastián in Spain. I was in a great position, and Groenewegen was forced to launch early, and I could stay on his wheel, and I could do my sprint when I wanted.” Other illnesses and crashes took their inevitable toll, and only four teams arrived in Paris with all of its eight riders still in the bunch. There was a wild romp on the bell lap with Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates), Geraint Thomas and Filippo Ganna (Ineos-Grenadiers) surging off the front to try to catch out the sprinter teams. This will take a while to realize,” Philipsen said after the finish. A bunch sprint was written in the stars.

Ben’s son Samuel was also there to take video and photos. Ben, 49, looked casual in a blue, long-sleeved shirt, sleeves rolled up to beat the heat, jeans, and tan shoes.

They were joined in several waves by Jan Tratnik (Bahrain Victorious), Mathieu Burgaudeau (TotalEnergies), Dani Martinez (Ineos Grenadier), Matteo Jorgenson (Movistar), Max Schachmann (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Mikkel Honoré (Quick Step). It was all together again with 33km to go. 135 riders started stage 21 at 16.46 at Paris La Défense Arena. 3 non-starters: Gorka Izagirre (Movistar), Michael Woods and Guillaume Boivin (Israel-Premier Tech). Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), the super combative of the 109th Tour de France, symbolically attacked from the gun one last time but it was for a laugh along with Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar. As per tradition, the peloton rode slowly for the first fifty kilometres or so. Stefan Bissegger (EF Education-EasyPost) and Stan De Wulf (AG2R-Citroën) attacked with 45km to go. A former LFA athlete, Weeks has lost both of his fights in the UFC thus far. Both of his pro MMA fights have come inside the last 12 months; both have ended with TKO finishes (one by doctor’s stoppage). Doumbe (2-0), who just recently made the jump to mixed martial arts, will fight Darian Weeks (5-2) at the event on September 3, 2022.
For as much as I'm written about planning a vacation wardrobe and the pieces I want in my suitcase recently, I have yet to book a big trip this year.
Ahead, see my Paris packing list—and stay tuned for my looks when I do end up visiting. I veer on the classic side of the fashion spectrum, but that is especially true whenever I'm in Paris, since the theme around style there is pretty timeless. My passport is feeling a bit dusty at this point, so I have my sights set on a trip abroad and specifically have Paris in mind.

Outside the swanky hotels that are nowhere near his district, the highest expenditure on his pre-primary report came from United Airlines, where Swalwell's campaign reported $13,312 on flights. This includes events around the Eiffel Tower and the central Place de la Concorde, which is close to the president's Elysee Palace. Paris 2024 Olympic organizers published the first public, detailed competition schedule. Opportunities abound for Katie Ledecky and Sydney McLaughlin.
In Tokyo, the first Games to include the women’s 1500m free, the finals were in the same session, creating a busy night for Katie Ledecky. She placed fifth in the 200m free (which she won in 2016) and won the 1500m. That’s something that McLaughlin and the rest of the world’s top athletes shouldn’t have to worry about. In track and field, Sydney McLaughlin‘s coming decision on what event(s) she will focus on could be impacted by the 2024 Olympic schedule. For Paris, at least for now, the 1500m and 200m finals are two days apart. It was previously announced that its schedule would extend from eight nights of finals to nine, leading many to wonder if the women’s 200m freestyle and 1500m free finals would be separated. These rings all vary in the theme of sprays of flowers, either in baskets or on their own. She ended up leaving for a tech and finance career in Silicon Valley until the tech bubble burst and she knew she had to start over. Hutchings concludes, “This piece has survived beautifully over two hundred years, obviously lovingly cared for in a collection. This time I was ready, and what a find! Her love of the craft, joy in finding original pieces and researching them, and exquisite taste have created a flourishing business for Hutchings. She sells to international antique jewelry collectors, many of whom are here in the States and have her IG feed on notifications. “My life and career took many twists and turns before I settled into the world of antique jewelry,” Hutchings explains. These elements stand the test of time.” She concludes. Some family members founded the American Hospital in Paris. My maternal grandmother was born in France close to the Italian border. Most of all, I look for the human touch in meaning, workmanship, and design. She left Ruby Lane years ago and, while working on her website, found a solid customer base with her eye-catching, often museum quality and historical pieces, which she features with great sensitivity to the jewels in beautiful, artfully propped photographs. She fell in love and married a Frenchman, had her daughter Sophie with him and eventually went through a divorce, returned to the States, learned bench jewelry, married for a second time, and her second husband’s job took him back to Paris. “I guess it’s where I was meant to be,” says Hutchings, whose family always had ties to France. “My American great-grandparents moved to France in1901. Her skillfully curated collection of jewelry that spans from the Georgian through Art Deco Eras has developed a loyal following on Instagram, which is Hutching’s main selling platform at the moment.

These modules are deployed throughout the ground floor of the building and are organized around a central street symbolically linking the old city of Paris and Greater Paris. Limestone-colored fabric, like the stone of historic Parisian buildings, runs throughout, giving shape and presence to each of the five places making up the exhibition. The « street » passes in front of the « monument », follows the « river », crosses the « park » and serves the « square ». These five places create a visiting experience with no order, both constrained and infinite, like a walk through the landscape of a metropolis. Architects Lucie Rebeyrol & lan Ollivier designed these urban archetypes with the desire to evoke a city in transition.
