It really isn't, because I know I'm gonna get in there and beat him up!" People think he has good grappling and he hasn't. He's not very good at all." Paddy Pimblett is one of the UFC's rising stars and he has grown to realise he's an athlete as well as a fighter - but he can't help his love for food.
Without them my life would be so much harder,' said Pimblett. Pimblett learned his lesson. He had lost 26lbs in just five days. “One-hundred percent,” McCann said. “That spinning elbow means f*** all on Saturday, doesn't it? That's not going to win me the fight, living off the last fight ...
Through all of this journey and through everything and through the last fight I’ve just realized I just want to be world champion. And if I’m honest with my goals and my dreams and my ambitions of being a world champion, then I can’t run away. “I’ve tried to be more of a role model and less of just a bevvy head. I’ve gone from the ‘I just want a bevvy game’ to the elbow game, and I wonder what we’ll get on Saturday night, what happens next.” I’ve went away and I’ve worked so hard on my grappling, even though it was the striking that won me the fight. What it has done is given me the belief, it’s given me the mental fortitude more to come into this one and know really what I’m capable of.

He comes into this fight with five wins in his last six appearances and hopes to become the first man to defeat Aspinall in the UFC. Dalby briefly found daylight with two minutes to go, but Silva regained control and kept his foe grounded until the horn. The Brit kept him grounded for much of the round, with Nelson getting up and trying to rally in the closing minute. After a minute against the fence, Herbert got loose and worked at close range before opening things up from range. Johnson continued to defend well, but Mokaev was piling up the control time, and he continued to do so through the rest of the fight, allowing him to extend his unbeaten run. They returned to the mat, Pearce in control with his strikes as he attempted to close the show, and at 4:10 of round two, he did, with referee Dan Movahedi halting the bout. Pearce (13-4) stayed busy, but Amirkhani was relentless as he looked for a submission. Keeping it standing in the second, Wood pecked and poked at Rosa with a variety of strikes, clearly securing the round, against the gritty Rosa, who was still looking for a way to turn things around. Wood stung Rosa with a right hand early on, and he was looking good on the feet in his new weight class. A clash of heads with a minute left bloodied Hadzovic and brought a stoppage to the action by referee Herb Dean, but after the Octagonside physician cleared him, it was back to the fight, which didn’t get better for Hadzovic, who was grounded and kept on the mat for the third round, as well. UFC returns to London on July 23 for the second UK event of the year. It took less than 30 seconds for Diakiese to take Hadzovic down, and he kept him there for the remainder of the round, and the pattern continued in the second stanza, with Hadzovic unable to garner any offense.

As for Leavitt, he is out to spoil the party and score his own three-fight win streak by handling business against Paddy ... and then twerking all over him in victory. On the heels of two straight losses, Claudio Silva will attempt to get a much-needed win when he battles Nicolas Dalby, who is coming off a tough loss to Tim Means, his first defeat in more than four years. Muhammad Mokaev will look to improve his undefeated record to 8-0 and go two-for-two inside the Octagon when he battles Charles Johnson (winner of four straight) in a Flyweight bout. As for Hermansson, he is in search of a much-needed win because he is coming off a split decision loss to Sean Strickland. He has been all over the place in recent years, alternating wins and losses since 2019 to amass a 3-3 record in the span. “The Baddy” has two first-round finishes to start off his UFC career and is eying a third to stay in the spotlight. A loss would likely make his return a short-lived one, but a win might assure fight fans that we get to see “The Mauler” in action again. Also at 145 pounds, Nathaniel Wood will take on Charles Rosa. Woods coming off a loss to Casey Kenny, while Rosa has lost two in a row. Stepping in to face “The Joker” is Chris Curtis, who is fresh off a big win over Rodolfo Vieira a few weeks ago. In the meantime, the rest of the division is trying to stay busy to not only earn paychecks, but to see who will move up the rankings. And one of the biggest fights on the docket is Blaydes vs. That was the case when he lost to Francis Ngannou, which snapped his five-fight win streak, and then to Derrick Lewis, which snapped his four-fight unbeaten streak. The Heavyweight division is at a bit of a standstill at the moment because division champion, Francis Ngannou, is on the mend after surgery and likely won’t be back until late 2022 or early 2023.
Molly McCann's star kept rising Saturday in front of her home British fans at UFC Fight Night 208.
Charles Johnson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) McCann has won three straight. With several quick punches, Goldy hit the canvas. Goldy went after a takedown again right after that, but ate a punch from McCann. McCann landed a solid right counter, then pushed Goldy to the canvas with 90 seconds left. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this before in combat sports in the U.K. – getting behind a female athlete,” McCann said. Ahead of McCann’s finish, those fans had endured eight decisions in the first nine fights.

No one but Lewis has been able to actually shut Blaydes' lights out so a clean knockout seems unlikely for Aspinall. But the more Blaydes is forced into looking to wrestling first, the more he may be able to tilt the fight in his direction. Blaydes understands how to go the distance, even in a five-round fight such as this. Blaydes has five decision wins in his career while Aspinall has never even seen the third round of a fight. Pimblett, the Liverpool native, has scored a pair of first-round finishes in his first two appearances in the UFC Octagon -- one by knockout and one by submission. While Aspinall has solid wrestling, Blaydes is a bit better than him in that department. "I definitely think people underestimate my athleticism, even to this day," Blaydes said in an interview with Yahoo Sports. "I don't think a lot of people appreciate how athletic you have to be to get takedowns.
Paddy Pimblett had to go through a little adversity, but he came through the way he promised he would.
Charles Johnson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Leavitt never had been finished in his career. It was tight, and before long Leavitt had to tap. But Pimblett landed a kick, then ended the round on top working for a choke of his own. Leavitt dropped downand scooped Pimblett up with a single leg and slammed him to the canvas. That was sh*t. Pardon my French, but I’m better than that,” Pimblett said before delivering a message of hope for an end to the stigma that men, in particular, can’t share their emotions without it being considered a weakness.

Tom Aspinall suffered a freak knee injury 15 seconds into Saturday's UFC heavyweight bout vs. Curtis Blaydes, giving Blaydes the injury TKO win.
The UFC has hinted at a potential interim title fight that would feature former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but as it stands, Jones has not fought in more than two years. It's an unfortunate finish for any fight, but especially one with so much on the line in the heavyweight division. Blaydes raised his arms in confusion as referee Herb Dean intervened.

The UFC handed out four post-fight bonuses after Saturday's UFC Fight Night 208 card, one to each finisher, save for one.
Like his teammate Molly McCann, Paddy Pimblett (19-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) left a guarantee that he’d finish Jordan Leavitt (10-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and send The O2 into an eruption. McCann’s first-round TKO finish led to her third straight post-fight bonus. Then deep into the second round, he kept the pressure on for a TKO finish.
Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC London: Blaydes vs. Aspinall.
Charles Rosa by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27) Blaydes was declared the winner by TKO. The main portion of the card had Volkan Oezdemir thwart Paul Craig and his grappling attempts for a unanimous decision win. During an exchange, Aspinall threw a kick and collapsed when he planted his foot on the canvas. The heavyweight headliner ended in unfortunate fashion, and the middleweight co-headliner saw ‘The Action Man’ get outstruck by ‘The Joker.’ Nathaniel Wood fought for the first time in over a year and a half and turned in quite a performance.

Jones was a big favorite heading into this matchup but ultimately the experience and boxing ability of Klein came through. Klein had many beautiful combinations throughout the fight, one of which dropped Jones to the ground where he almost finished him. He also had a chance to put Wood away with a choke which was taken away from the round ending. Wood came in with a strategy specifically made for Rosa and it showed.

After Tom Aspinall's horrific injury during the main event of UFC London, Curtis Blaydes shared a beer with the Englishman.
“Wanted to say a huge thank you to the UFC, the doctors and paramedics that looked after me. Aspinall immediately crumpled to the ground, and the referee called for a stoppage after seeing his reaction. The main event of UFC London was supposed to be a match for the ages.
Blaydes was the No. 4 ranked fighter in the official UFC heavyweight rankings entering UFC London. Aspinall was ranked at No. 6. The big winners on the card ...
Herbert did showed improved takedown defense throughout this fight, but he failed to use his height and reach advantage throughout the contest. Prelim card winners: The UFC tried to fit eight prelim fights into a three-hour broadcast window. He also had success in the first half of the second stanza, but once Dalby reversed position on the mat, it became clear that Silva was running on fumes. Silva found some fuel in his reserve tank in the third stanza, but it was not enough to earn him his first win since 2019. Alexander Gustafsson: Prior to UFC London, Alexander Gustafsson confidently proclaimed that the UFC light heavyweight weight class was his division. The bad thing was that Curtis had nothing in his tool box to put his opponent at risk. Paul Craig: Paul Craig smartly tried to avoid the striking game of Volkan Oezdemir for the first four plus minutes of the fight. The question with McCann now becomes does the UFC look to give her a tough fight up the rankings or does it look to capitalize on her popularity with the English fans? He used a low kick heavy attack to slow down and defeat a game Charles Rosa. Wood used a patient approach to earn the win. This was a huge win for the 30-year-old, who called out Volkan Oezdemir during his in-cage conversation with UFC commentator Michael Bisping. Hermansson fought a smart 15 minutes, took little damage and set himself up for a fight opposite a top-10 opponent in the next few months. This week saw the fight between Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall come to a close 15 seconds into the heavyweight bout due to a knee injury suffered by Aspinall.
YouTube star Paul has consistently campaigned for improved pay for UFC fighters and he had his say again after Pimblett choked out Jordan Leavitt in London.
You haven't heard of any UFC fights and they've all be boring so I get why Nate is trying to get out, he's trying to come and face the money man which is me. Most recently, Paul offered to fight UFC legend Nate Diaz in his final fight with the promotion. It makes a ton of sense, the UFC has been dead this whole year.
See whom Tom Aspinall should fight next after his loss to Curtis Blaydes in the UFC Fight Night 208 headliner.
All the best, most interesting, and unquestionably coolest fights the UFC needs to book following their latest event in London, England.
With a bout between Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill upcoming, the winner of that fight could be just the kind of matchup the Austrian is looking for. It’s a great way for the ‘Prospect’ to announce his presence in his new weight class and it should mean an immediate bump up toward the top 15 next time out. All of a sudden ‘Meatball’ is riding a three fight win streak, and it’s time to start pushing her back toward the edges of the top 15. A bout with Ryan Spann wouldn’t be the worst next step possible for Oezdemir, but he’s probably looking to fight his way back up the division. Instead, fights with Dustin Jacoby or Ryan Spann would also work great for Krylov. I really think that fight with Jacoby would especially be a ton of fun to watch. I still think a fight against Jim Miller is one of the best bookings the UFC can offer the ‘Baddy’ right now. With the division as it stands right now, the obvious bookings for Aspinall would be a bout against the loser of Lewis vs. A steady diet of low kicks, head kicks, and body kicks along with a willingness to circle out and change directions left Curtis chasing Hermansson all fight and meant the Norwegian-born Swede could more or less cruise to a decision win. After the bout, the ‘Joker’ noted that he wouldn’t be opposed to a re-booked bout with Darren Till. And frankly, if he wants it, he’ll probably get it, since there isn’t really an otherwise obvious fight for the ‘Gorilla’ in the middleweight top ten right now. Of course, the downside to that is that it’s going to heavily increase calls from fans to see Pimblett take a big step forward. Not much of a win for Curtis Blaydes, all things concerned, but when a fighter’s already in the top 5, any fight that doesn’t set them back has to be considered some kind of victory. To answer those questions—but not much else—I’ll be using the classic Silva/Shelby fight booking methodology from the UFC of years past.
Rising lightweight star Paddy Pimblett is ready to move on to bigger and better things following his submission win at UFC London.
We don’t know at this time if Pimblett’s skill set will continue to mirror his rising UFC stock, but the promotion has to roll the red carpet out for “Baddy” one way or another. Pimblett, 27, is one of the biggest international stars UFC has at its disposal right now. He’s currently 3-0 with three finishes since joining UFC back in 2021 and is likely headed to a pay-per-view (PPV) card in the very near future.

I got a little bit emotional because I had a crazy week with this bulls*** politician in Russia. [The politician] tried to call me a traitor for lifting the U.K. flag. I’m just a normal guy from Wigan, I grew up there, but from Dagestan. Just normal, I don’t want to threaten anyone. “I think [social media does play a big part in MMA],” Mokaev said. First, he addressed a social media post he had uploaded of himself brandishing an AK-47 rifle in Dagestan and then apologized to Johnson for starting a brief row at Friday’s ceremonial weigh-ins. I don’t disrespect the media, but you give a bulls*** guy like Paddy Pimblett attention. As good of a performance as Pimblett put in, he made headlines before the fight even started. “This guy pulls his pants down,” Mokaev said. “I told Charles after my fight, I want to apologize about putting a finger up [in Johnson’s face] at the weigh-ins. I see this. “These guys never reach the top 15. I know this energy. “Example, Arnold Allen. It’s Leon Edwards. It’s Tom Aspinall. Nathaniel Wood. These guys are amazing, good examples.

Shevchenko has been unable to get a lot of consistency during her UFC career, but did get back on track with a split decision win over Cortney Casey a few weeks ago in Las Vegas, Nevada. For “Meatball,” defeating Shevchenko ups her win streak to four, while Shevchenko can build on her momentum by scoring a nice win over a fan-favorite. Hermansson was set to face Till at this event before he was forced out of the fight with an injury. A fight against Shevchenko would definitely be a nice step in helping her get there. Pimblett is a former champion with Cage Warriors and Topuria is an undefeated rising star in the 155-pound division with a perfect (12-0) record (4-0 inside the Octagon). He is also a former Cage Warriors Bantamweight title contender, so he has the experience, as well. UFC London “Blaydes vs. While I am sure that whoever wins that match up would love a title shot, it is unlikely to happen for them given the fact that division kingpin, Francis Ngannou, is out for the foreseeable future.

There were no details given on the extent of the injury. The 29-year-old addressed his ‘freak injury’ on social media and vowed to return stronger once he recovers. Clutching his right knee, Aspinall remained on the canvas as cageside physicians addressed his injury and removed him from the Octagon.

- UFC 276 Event T-Shirt That was the first loss in Gustafsson’s current four fight losing skid. Gustafsson regrouped with wins over future champions Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira. Those victories won him a rematch with Jones, at UFC 232 in 2018. Jones KO’d Gustafsson in the third round. Jones won the fight via split decision. “Gustafson [sic] is done,” wrote Cormier. “He needs to walk away, these shots are hard but he used to eat those.
UFC Fighter Paddy Pimblett incorporates the old-fashioned Call of Duty and Halo taunt of teabagging into his trash talk and an actual fight.
The teabag is a funny gesture in some circles, but it is a controversial practice. It's one thing for Pimblett to trash talk and say he’s going to teabag his opponent, but fans were unsure if the fighter would get the chance if he lost or the fight ended in a draw. When we get to see it in real life like the Los Angeles Chargers' Defensive Lineman Joey Bosa did in a game, it's funny to see because it's a very awkward movement in execution.
