First he crashes in the peloton - perhaps after a touch of wheels - and then, when he's trying to ride back on, he's taken out by a Trek-Segafredo soigneur trying to hand a musette to one of the Trek riders. Pinot cops a load right in the face and he needs some treatment on the side of the road before he gets going. The Frenchman has managed to rejoin the main field just ahead of a little uphill rise which punctuates this long descent. If riders like Van Aert, Ewan, Philipsen, Sagan and Matthews can get over the steep bit, then they should be in the mix to sprint for the win. I had to fight to stay on the wheel of Pogacar and his teammates. Wright has 35 seconds but the final climb is coming right up - and Bora-Hansgrohe have joined Alpecin-Deceuninck on the nose of the pack. The gap is down to 1'05" as Wright leads Cattaneo under the 20km-to-go banner. So hard to predict the finish - it could be GC riders or one of the puncheurs. Victor Lafey of Cofidis has been dropped as the riders approach the glistening waters of Lac Leman. And Wright only has 15 seconds now - and it's that man Pogacar who's leading the chase behind! After Majka pulled off it was Bob Jungels of Ag2R-Citroen who led deep into the final kilometre before Matthews darted from his wheel with Pogacar right behind. I hit the ground but not so much โ€“ one of the softer crashes I have experienced.

World No. 8 and Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins leads the field, with home hope Belinda Bencic being the second seed. Despite its placement outside the main European clay season, the WTA 250 tournament has managed to attract quite a few top names of the sport.

WTA Lausanne Day 1 Predictions Including Davis vs Sorribes Tormo (Last Word on Baseball)

After a thrilling Wimbledon, they hybrid summer clay/hard court season kicks off. WTA Players who favor clay have travelled to Lausanne.

Sorribes Tormo looks to continue her strong clay season where she reached the quarterfinal of Madrid. Sorribes Tormo had to cut her clay season short after an injury, but she returned at Wimbledon where she looked healthy and made the second round. Sorribes Tormo has the advantage and her only major concern is the lingering injury preventing her physical style of play, but she has had several matches to get back into shape. Burel doesnโ€™t have anywhere near her best game, and Zhu has been good enough to take advantage of that and outplay her. Bronzetti is in the midst of a great year where she recently reached her career-high ranking of 71. Burel hopes to right the ship after losing her last four matches, dropping her record to 7-15 in 2022. She captured her first career WTA title on the clay in Istanbul in April of this year.
