Though the Brewers tied it again in the bottom of the ninth (and eventually won 5-2 in 10 innings), Suzuki still has a moment to remember forever (and off one of baseball’s elite relievers in Josh Hader to boot). The camerawork on that play deserves some love as well. The most exciting play in baseball lived up to its name on Monday thanks to Chicago Cubs rookie Seiya Suzuki. The Cubs played a thriller against the Milwaukee Brewers on Independence Day. With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth inning, the Cubs slugger Suzuki tattooed a ball off the wall in left-center. This is highlighted by the signing of Sammy Watkins and drafting of Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. With all of that being said, Aaron Rodgers has made it clear what he thinks of the number one wide receiver for the 2022 season. "We had a chance to win a game and we just didn't finish at the end," Rangers manager Chris Woodward said. Outlaw has been victorious in three of four promotional appearances, with his only loss coming at the hands of Michael Chandler at Bellator 237. Schoop led off the bottom of the third with a double. Boston had scheduled a bullpen game as a result, but Crawford took it over by facing just four batters over the minimum in the longest outing of his MLB career. And, despite having two of the best players in the universe, L.A. is having a bear of a time winning games. Kutter Crawford struck out a career-high eight batters in 5 1/3 two-hit, shutout innings and Trevor Story homered in the fourth to propel the Boston Red Sox to a 4-0 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Monday afternoon. Marlins Prediction and Pick There was a time in the MLB when a showdown between Noah Syndergaard and Sandy Alcantara would be a spectacle to behold. His anti-seizure medication is said to have made him sluggish and did not stop the episodes. And while that may be the case this evening, I think the spectacle will be watching Thor struggle again for the Angels. On the other hand, Alcantara continues to dominate opponents to the tune of an 8-3 record and 1.95 ERA. Over his last six starts, he’s been even better with a 1.89 ERA in 47 ⅔ innings.

“I look at it as a big opportunity,” said Kyrgios after he outlasted #NextGenATP American Brandon Nakashima in a five-set thriller in the fourth round on Monday. “Garin is obviously playing great tennis. Then when I walked off the court and I got told it was Garin. It was surprising. The man on the other side of the net on Wednesday certainly knows a thing or two about quality shots. Now it is crazy to go from where I was at mentally after Queen's — feeling injured, I'd just lost three matches in a row. Now is the moment to keep doing the steps forward if I want to keep having chances.” Nadal was solid if not spectacular in four-set wins against Francisco Cerundolo and Ricardas Berankis in his opening two rounds at Wimbledon, where the second seed is playing his first tournament of the year on grass. The American has brought that form with him to the lawns of the All England Club, where he has so far dispatched Lorenzo Musetti, Alastair Gray, Alex Molcan and Kubler without dropping a set. “Last year I [reached the fourth round] here, and I think that was a big experience for me. Today, I felt a different match to last year. I just remained positive, stuck to the process of working really hard, doing the right things. I might think, ‘Should I go for this, should I play it safe?’ Against someone like Rafa, it's easy to always make the aggressive decision and kind of play freer.” The week before Wimbledon he won the tournament [in Eastbourne]. After his first-round victory at Wimbledon last week, Kyrgios was fined $10,000 for spitting in the direction of a heckling spectator. Kyrgios, who is ranked 40th, has garnered more attention for his behavior on and off the court than for his skills with a racket in hand. Still, he summoned his best for last, grabbing a 5-0 lead in the closing tiebreaker -- the first-to-10, win-by-two format starting at 6-all in a fifth set is new to Wimbledon this year -- and then five of the last six points. An injured Rafael Nadal somehow managed to continue his quest to secure a historic Calendar Slam in 2022 after he roared back to beat Taylor Fritz.

It was due reward for a set in which Fritz played superbly well, especially given he was dealing with an injured opponent - never easy - and the pressure of a possible first Grand Slam semi-final. Nadal came steaming out of the blocks to take a 5-0 lead, but once again Fritz recovered to 6-3. "I honestly enjoy a lot playing these kind of matches, in front of you guys, I can’t thank you enough. Nadal said: “The body in general is fine. You'd never have said that in the remainder of the set Nadal would win just one more game, but that was what happened as Fritz wrestled his way back into the contest, breaking back in the sixth game, and then again in the eighth to romp away with it, 6-3. He managed to return to the court after leaving to receive treatment in the locker room, but he was not able to move freely and it appeared to be only a matter of time until the inevitable handshake at the net.

Rafael Nadal Prevails at Wimbledon In Grueling Win Over Taylor Fritz (The New York Times)

Nadal struggled with an apparent abdominal injury in his quarterfinal match against Fritz, a rising American star who pushed Nadal to five sets.

He has been wearing a patch on his lower abdomen during the tournament that appeared to be an anti-inflammatory patch. Nadal played with what turned out to be a stress fracture in one of his ribs, which limited his ability to serve and strike his groundstrokes at full force. But as the match extended past four hours, he regained control and finished off the victory with a classic forehand winner from inside the baseline, complete with his bolo-whip finish behind his left ear. “I hope to be ready to play it; that’s the first thing,” Nadal said in his on-court interview. “For a lot of moments, I was thinking maybe I will not be able to finish the match,” he said, speaking to the Centre Court crowd. But for all his power and hustle, he could not hold his two-set-to-one lead and quickly lost command of the decisive tiebreaker, falling behind, 0-5, as Nadal summoned the shotmaking that has made him a 22-time Grand Slam singles champion.
