The British Grand Prix weekend starts today (Friday, July 1) with practice 1 and practice 2. Cord-cutters will want to check out TSN Direct (opens in new tab), which comes in day- and month-long passes for $8 or $20 CAD, respectively. Not actually in Canada at the moment? But what if you're usually based in one of those countries but aren't at home for the British Grand Prix live stream? For instance if you're in the U.S. and want to view a U.K. service, you'd select U.K. from the list. The TSN app (opens in new tab) will allow you to live stream the race from your phone, streaming box or supported device. However, you'll need to authenticate with your satellite, cable or live TV provider credentials to watch any sessions. Sling also currently offers 50% off the first month. Don't worry — you can watch it via a VPN instead. One of the big talking points is what Mercedes' performance will be like. And that's always fun! Silverstone usually serves up a thrilling race, not least because the weather is so unpredictable.

Michael Andretti Wants F1 to Make Room for a New Team (The New York Times)

The son of Mario Andretti has had much racing success, but breaking into Formula 1 poses a major challenge.

“There are millions of people embracing” the addition of an Andretti team, he said. “We’re taking a risk, but we think it’s worth the risk.” “Andretti is a big name in motorsport,” he said. For Andretti to join, Formula 1’s governing body, the F.I.A., must issue a tender calling for interest from new teams. “We want to be an American team that wants to develop American drivers for the future,” Andretti said. But we need to protect the teams.” At the moment, we are in a good place.” Andretti is willing to pay this, yet the existing teams do not think this is enough to make up for the possible lost income. Toto Wolff, the chief executive of Mercedes, said any new team would have to prove it could bring more money into Formula 1 than it would cost the existing operations. “They are a very good organization, very professional,” Alonso said. We think the more competition, the better.” He is the son of the 1978 Formula 1 world champion, Mario Andretti, and owns Andretti Autosport, a team that has enjoyed enormous success in the United States through IndyCar, winning the Indianapolis 500 five times.

Vox Media has affiliate partnerships. If Codemasters is trying to encroach on their turf with the Supercars, the studio’s initial offering is nothing for PlayStation or Xbox to fear. F1 2022 performance guide: Best settings for high frame rate ... (Digital Trends)

Otherwise, you can stick with one of the game's five presets to get an image you like, as well as use the dynamic resolution option in the Display settings menu ...

At 4K with the Ultra High preset, it offered a 50% boost in performance with the Quality mode. I’m struggling to see a difference between the quality modes for ray tracing, so if you turn it on, I’d recommend sticking with Medium quality. The game supports Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). They both give you a way to improve performance by lowering the resolution the game renders at. F1 2022 doesn’t call for much, but the system requirements are a little misleading. As mentioned, F1 2022 is fairly CPU limited, so performance returns start to fall off beyond the Medium preset. If you want to go at it on your own, here are the best settings for F1 2022: I booted up the DT test bench to find the best settings for F1 2022 so you can have a high frame rate. It should be clear by now, but ray tracing is extremely demanding in F1 2022. The Ultra Low preset isn’t too useful for the best graphics cards, offering only a slight bump over the Medium preset. Ray tracing is a performance killer, though, and it’s not worth the frame rate dip for the vast majority of players. Otherwise, you’ll likely have to settle for frame rates below 60 fps, especially if you want to run at a high resolution. Otherwise, you can stick with one of the game’s five presets to get an image you like, as well as use the dynamic resolution option in the Display settings menu to improve your frame rate.

F1 22 game tips and tricks (Traxion.GG)

With the EA SPORTS F1 22 game now out in the world, here our some key starter tips and tricks to help you on your way to Formula 1 world championship glory.

We also have a separate guide as to how they are unlocked and what modes they can be used in, plus the video below for further advice. But, if F1 22 is your first F1 game in a while, or ever, then view or read our tips and tricks for F1 2021, as it covers some baseline essentials. This is ideal for those who do not use VR, as keeping the column on does block the view ahead and may lead to unfortunate accidents. But it is true, practicing through the Time Trial mode does give you the best conditions possible to learn. For the formation laps, a graphic is now overlayed in front of your pit box to show how well you’ve parked. Give them a lot more respect on the corners, as their speed upon corner entry needs to be vastly slower than its open-wheeler friend. This is also a personal preference, but the theme option is recommended for content creators as it doesn’t flag up any copyright issues within video platforms. For the rears, hard acceleration coming out of corners or from a lower gear while on the pitstraight is the key, where you’re now able to simulate a burnout to gain a better launch. Speaking of starts, improvements to the immersion of formation laps and pit stops have now been introduced for F1 22. Remember, you can also enter the pit box at a different angle if you’d like to replicate real life. This is much easier for the start procedure thanks to the new ‘immersive’ formation lap mode. Warming up the tyres in-game is now a larger priority than before.

In creating this 'shelf', the team has been able to isolate the airflow's passage over the upper surface of the sidepod. Horner tells FIA “don't dick” with 2023 F1 aero rules (autosport.com)

Christian Horner has urged the FIA not to “dick” with the 2023 Formula 1 technical regulations in an attempt to address porpoising.

“And the devil is in the detail. “I think the difficulty is these cars were designed around a ground effect set of rules they were designed to try and improve overtaking. And the sport has to adapt and change as a result of that. “So I don't think that's the correct way to go about it. “And the most important thing, and the biggest way to achieve stable costs, is stability. If you change now for '23 the size of the diffuser or the stay, it's all in the bin.”

Horner: F1 risks "dangerous avenue" with FIA porpoising clampdown (Motorsport.com, Edition: Global)

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner thinks Formula 1 risks going down a 'dangerous avenue' of the FIA dictating car set-ups amid its porpoising clampdown.

Williams team boss Jost Capito echoed Horner's thoughts on the complexity of the metric, saying: "The proposal is much too complicated. The technical directive is set to be discussed further by teams at next week's F1 Commission meeting. Any car that fails to comply with the limits will risk exclusion from grands prix.

This nearly caught out Sainz as he languished in the drop zone after the initial laps in the middle segment, but the Spaniard was able to jump up the order at the halfway point, after which the rain falling ever harder meant no drivers were able to improve and the elimination order was set. Nicholas Latifi was delighted to make it through to Q3 for the first time, but he did not set a representative time in the final segment and so finished 10th and last of the shootout runners. Verstappen had led the way through Q1 and Q2 and appeared to be on course to complete a clean sweep as he also topped the times ahead of the final runs in the final segment.
