DLNR to hold additional meetings on use of lay nets (Hawaii Tribune-Herald)

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will hold hearings statewide to discuss amendments to laws regarding lay nets — again.

Lobster nets, like lay nets, are left in the water to passively catch lobsters. The amended rules proposed Friday would clarify that lobster nets are a distinct piece of equipment from lay nets. Lay nets, which are fishing nets left suspended in a body of water to passively catch fish, can entangle and kill other species in the process, including endangered marine life.

Ian Eagle critiques Nets performance, poses big questions about ... (NetsDaily)

Count Ian Eagle among the skeptics about the Nets right now. In a podcast with Spence Checketts on ESPN Radio this weekend, the YES Network announcer raised ...

There just wasn’t a whole lot of trust in the rest of the guys that they could win you a game when your two biggest players may not have it on a given night.” Things that you notice over the course of a season, things that even Steve would say, hey, he’s learning, he’s adjusting, he’s developing as a head coach but it seems crystal clear that he’s going to be back. “What I see is a very capable communicator and someone who obviously played at the very highest level with Hall of Fame credentials and his ability to relate and connect with human beings is never going to be questioned. Does he want to be part of this squad? So when they got to the post-season, I just didn’t think magically they would be able to repair all of the issues and issues related to chemistry, related to injury and related to being available. He’s a great teammate and he plays his butt off. “There was an acknowledgement that they could not do that the last week and change of the season. They were the seventh seed for a reason. Does he want to play?’ He described Nash’s situation a learning, adjusting and developing experience. They were simply not going to “magically” turn things around when the post-season began after a mediocre regular season. He specifically cited Nash’s decision not to use LaMarcus Aldridge at all and Blake Griffin sparingly at the end of the regular season and in the playoffs.

Report: Ben Simmons' camp will work with the Nets on offseason plan (Nets Wire)

People close to Ben Simmons are reportedly "confident" he will be ready to return for the Nets next season.

With Simmons, however, being physically capable of playing isn’t necessarily a green light for him to return to the court. According to a report from the New York Post, Simmons’ camp is planning on putting together a plan with the organization to have Simmons ready to play. There are also mental hurdles for Simmons to overcome, a point raised by Rich Paul in a meeting with Nets executives in April.

Kyrie Irving: My immaturity, isolation cost Cavaliers 'more ... (New York Post)

Kyrie Irving discussed why he asked out of Cleveland just a year after winning a title, and how the blowback he got in the aftermath shaped who he is today.

‘You’re just another motherf—er we can just troll or hate on.’ So I had to make the shift. Me and him in the league together running Cleveland, and then being able to put a better team together every single year would’ve definitely been worth it.” “I didn’t know how to do that. Before I was questioning, ‘Yo, did I do this the right thing? I didn’t know how to share my emotions,” Irving said. He lifted the lid on a host of topics, including saying the Cavaliers would’ve stayed together longer and won more if he’d been more mature.

And in reality, it could have an impact on whether he returns to the Nets for a fourth season. We’re looking for guys that want to be a part of something bigger than themselves, play team basketball, and be available. Boasting a $36.5 million player option for the 2022-23 season, Irving can opt out and become a free agent this summer. Here's What Kyrie Irving Tweeted On Sunday Night (Yardbarker)

On Sunday night, Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving sent out a tweet from his Twitter account. Irving and the Nets had their season come to an end.

I think in the end they can come up with a situation that both sides agree with, but it is going to be weird until they get to that point.” Having to show up for training camp for a team that you ripped earlier in the offseason could be incredibly uncomfortable for both Mayfield and the Browns. Mayfield is owed more than $18M in 2022. Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reported on Sunday that Blake Snell will make his season debut on Wednesday in Philadelphia against the Phillies. The 29-year-old pitcher was scratched before his first start of the season in April with groin soreness, and was later placed on the injured list with an adductor strain. The odds were pretty crazy for this parlay to hit for Drake, and he was able to get the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames to win in overtime to advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs. That position is unlikely to change for quite a while, according to Rapoport. “The most important thing for [Mayfield] is to figure out how he separates from the Browns, if he separates from the Browns,” Rapoport said. Sánchez spent the first few weeks of the season in a shutdown period after he battled continued soreness during the spring. DeBoer, 53, was hired by the team during the 2019-20 season after Gerard Gallant was fired in January. DeBoer led the team to a 15-5-2 record in the remainder of the year and a trip to the Western Conference Final. In the 2020-21 season, the Golden Knights advanced through the first two rounds of the playoffs but were bounced in the conference semifinals. He ranks seventh in total strokes gained this season, but yet is 63/1? Not only that, but his 20th ranking in driving accuracy is going to help quite a bit at Southern hills, and his short game is amongst the strongest in the field. Logue is in the 11th percentile in barrel percentage and 15th percentile in expected slugging percentage, so hitters have been able to square the baseball up even though the runs haven't come yet. With the last-minute defection of Un Ojo, the Preakness Stakes is down to a field of nine and will be missing the Kentucky Derby winner, Rich Strike. Though at first glance it could seem like the race lost a little luster, that is far from the truth.
