Who are Moldova's Eurovision entry? Zdob si Zdub & Advahov ... (ChronicleLive)

Moldova's Zdob si Zdub & Advahov Brothers definitely have one of the most memorable songs in the Eurovision 2022 final.

As well as being memorable characters themselves, this year's Moldovian entrants have a song that is very hard to get out of your head. Eurovision final odds predict a win for Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra, with the likes of UK's Sam Ryder, Norway's Subwoolfer, home country Italy, Serbia's entry Konstrakta who sang about Meghan Markle and Sweden's Cornelia Jakobs in the mix with just hours to go. The Advahov Brothers was founded Vasile and Vitalie Advahov 17 years ago.

Transnistrian Feint Foreshadows Long-Term Russian Meddling in ... (International Policy Digest)

While Moldova joining the EU or NATO isn't realistic, both institutions can help the poorest country in Europe in other ways.

Russia has continued to attempt to recruit Transnistrian citizens into the Russian army. Now, these threats will test the resolve of nearby NATO member Romania, which maintains an exceptionally close relationship with Moldova. Upwards of 20,000 tons of Russian weaponry are currently stored in Transnistria in varying stages of upkeep. This heavy dependence on Russia for its continued existence makes Transnistria the perfect channel to stress test NATO’s southern flank. Most importantly, however, Romania would be able to share with Moldova the technical and financial support to build pro-Western or unbiased Russian-language media that can reach Transnistria. Romania has already begun doing the work necessary to counter Russia’s disinformation war. On top of military support, Russia provides Transnistria subsidized natural gas, pension supplements for older Transnistrians, and Russian passports to Transnistrians serving in the military. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in late February, there are concerns that the conflict could spill over into adjacent regions.

“But it seems strange to me – Moldova sang about the connection between Chisinau and Bucharest. So … about the brotherhood between Moldova and Romania !!! We gave them zero. Romania was ranked 18th and the Republic of Moldova was ranked 7th Singer Mihai Tristaryu, who finished fourth on Eurovision in 2006, was surprised. They gave us … zero. Mihai Tristariu shocked by the lack of votes between Romania and the Republic of Moldova at Eurovision 2022 At the same time, Romania did not give any points to the Republic of Moldova, but the Romanian vote was counted not by the country’s arbitral tribunal, but by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
