Russia Denies New Warship Strike by Ukraine as Makarov Rumors ... (Newsweek)

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had "no information" about reported strikes against the Russian warship.

He said that the ship had been "badly damaged" after being hit by Ukrainian attacks but remained afloat for now. However, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a statement to Newsweek that the U.S. did not provide information to target the Moskva and was "not involved in the Ukrainians decision to strike the ship." The God of the seas takes revenge on the offenders of Ukraine," he wrote. Open source intelligence monitor OSINTdefender tweeted that it was "seeming more and more likely" that the reports that the vessel had been hit were "true." Russian forces sent helicopters to rescue the crew of the ship, according to Ukrainian news site Dumskaya, which said that the vessel had been hit by a Neptune missile. The Kremlin has denied that it has any information about a reported Ukrainian strike on a Russian warship in the Black Sea.

What is the Admiral Makarov? Ukrainian forces reportedly hit ... (MEAWW)

Ukrainian presidential adviser Anton Gerashchenko reported on his Telegram page that the vessel was hit by a Ukrainian “Neptune” anti-ship missile.

It's unclear what ramifications Russian operations in the Black Sea would face following the sinking of Admiral Makarov. Russian President Vladimir Putin has blockaded Ukrainian ports on the sea's coast to stop exports during the war. There are indications Ukrainian defenders hit the Russian fascist warship "Admiral Makarov" with a Neptune missile. According to Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD), there were around 20 Russian Navy vessels in the Black Sea after the Moskva sank. That said, the Russian Ministry of Defense is yet to comment on the latest reports at the time of publication. According to Forbes, Admiral Makarov and her sister ships are not giants. There are three Admiral Grigorovich-class frigates and they belong to the Black Sea Fleet. The warship is armed with 24 Buk medium-range surface-to-air missiles and eight Kalibr cruise missiles, all in vertical cells, and they can escort other vessels while also attacking targets on land.

The US shared the location of the Moskva in the Black Sea with Ukrainians but had no role in the decision to strike the ship, a senior official told US media.

“According to preliminary information, the frigate was unable to dodge the Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missile,” he said. Unverified footage circulated on social media that appeared to show smoke coming out of a vessel. It can escort other vessels while also attack targets on land.

Another Russian Warship Is Burning In The Black Sea (Forbes)

A Russian frigate is on fire in the Black Sea after being hit by Ukrainian missiles, according to Ukrainian media. The ship is reportedly a frigate-sized ...

If another Russian ship was hit by missiles while sailing far off the Ukrainian coast — especially if a U.S. Global Hawk drone was in the area — then Moscow is bound to ask questions. He was killed when his flagship was sunk by a mine, and his fleet eventually wiped out by the Japanese. Just last month, Ukraine claimed the cruiser Moskva was sunk by two Neptune missiles, a claim that has been supported by Western analysts. Though based on the Cold War Soviet Kh-35 missile, and slower than modern supersonic and hypersonic missiles, it is still a formidable coastal defense weapon when employed by land-based batteries. But past history suggests that Ukraine has the capability to sink Russian ships, and that Russia will deny this ever happened. The ship is reportedly a frigate-sized vessel, possibly the Admiral Makarov, one of Russia’s newest and most advanced frigates.

At least one other amphibious vessel appears to have been damaged in the incident. Russia asserts that the casualty was caused by an accidental fire, and that only 28 crewmembers were lost. I'm not ready to say ‘yes' or ‘no’ yet," he told security expert and commentator Dmitry Alperovich. Off the record, U.S. officials have told at least three news outlets that U.S. intelligence information was used in the attack on the Moskva. White House press secretary Jen Psaki denied these reports on Friday, saying that they were "inaccurate." "Drowned [sunk] - probably not, maybe hit. Ukrainian forces may have successfully attacked another Russian Navy vessel in the Black Sea, according to Ukrainian member of parliament Oleksiy Goncharenko. In a social media statement, he claimed that the Russian frigate Admiral Makarov has been hit and damaged by a Neptune missile, the same Ukrainian coastal-defense system that sank the cruiser Moskva.

'Burning Russian Warship' Admiral Makarov Video Is Almost ... (Coffee or Die Magazine)

The Dramatic "Admiral Makarov video" circulating of a "burning ship" supposedly hit by Ukrainian forces is almost certainly fake.

At 2 miles or less, the angle of the camera would be very different than that seen on the video. If we assume the aircraft is orbiting the Makarov from 6 miles away — as close as it can safely approach — then it’s just a middle school math problem to figure out how fast it was flying during those 37 seconds. In other words, the plane appears to move about 1/8th of the way around that ship as it films. Although the Admiral Makarov video is suspiciously smooth, it’s also grainy and hazy as if filmed from a long distance. But the “burning ship” video is almost certainly fake, even though it appears to have fooled a number of American media outlets. The primary give-away isn’t something seen on the clip — though there are some dodgy details — but a small dose of basic math behind how it could possibly have been filmed.
