From bellbottoms and Led Zeppelin to grunge and Kurt Cobain, That '70s Show fans are about to welcome in a not-so-new era.
In October, Netflix announced they would launch a spinoff of the original Fox comedy called That ’90s Show. On Saturday, Netflix let fans know an additional five original cast members from That ’70s Show would return for guest appearances. According to The Hollywood Reporter, That ’90s Show takes place in 1995, when Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, is sent to visit her grandparents for the summer. From bellbottoms and Led Zeppelin to grunge and Kurt Cobain, That ’70s Show fans are about to welcome in a not-so-new era.
Danny Masterson appeared as a main cast member for the entire run of That '70s Show. As the cynical, cool-guy Steven Hyde, he quickly became a fan favorite.
Meanwhile, the new cast will include Callie Haverda as Leia, along with Mace Coronel, Ashley Aufderheide, Reyn Doi, Maxwell Acee Donovan, and Samantha Morelos. There is no current release date yet for That ’90 Show, but you’ll be able to stream it on Netflix when it is eventually released. Though fans of the show may be dismayed that Danny Masterson’s character won’t be on the new Netflix series, they can at least celebrate the fact that every other main cast member of That ’70s Show will be making an appearance. Needless to say, Netflix decided they did not wish to pursue a professional relationship with the actor anymore and cut ties with him when he was starring in their series The Ranch. The Ranch starred fellow That ’70s Show alum, Ashton Kutcher. Masterson played his brother Rooster and his character was subsequently killed off after he was fired from the series.

“We are experiencing classic Scientology attacks,” one of Masterson’s accusers told The Daily Beast. “The week that the decision was made by the A&E network to move forward with the airing of the episode we did for Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, letters started circulating from various sources directed at A&E and Disney calling for the show to be taken off the air, declaring the show and its contributors to be bigots and many other hurtful names. The news first emerged in March of 2017 and led to him being removed from the Netflix show The Ranch, which he co-starred in with Ashton Kutcher. A spinoff of the popular sitcom That ’70s Show is coming and reuniting (most of) the original cast.
