Whether or not what you make or gather is high quality will be determined by a new set of stats, and gear to wear for those stats, tied to professions. Early in the expansion, you'll have the ability to train a dragon as a mount to fly through the leveling process and beyond. You'll be able to customize your dragon with different colors of scales, horns, and armor as you progress through the story. Evokers will be the first class in the game with spells that you charge up to change their power level. They can cast magical ranged spells to heal allies and damage foes, and are the only race that can be created as the new Evoker class. Dragonflight is set on the Dragon Isles, a location that's been essentially a myth for most of WoW's history, hidden away in game files and occasionally mentioned in dialogue as the game aged.

Blizzard reveals World of Warcraft's next expansion: Dragonflight (Windows Central)

As expected, the next World of Warcraft expansion will take place on the Dragon Isles, and feature a heavy dragon theme. Here's what we know so far.

With Microsoft looking to acquire Activision Blizzard in the near future, one would hope that the focus will shift towards quality over corner-cutting, but it may be too early to tell if it'll have any impact on Dragonflight. As a huge Warcraft fan, I can only hope it's the former. As we reported a while ago, World of Warcraft will grab a new race with a dragon theme. World of Warcraft's previous two expansions, Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands, both stood in the shadow of Legion, which had far more features, more dungeons, bigger landmasses, alongside a better story than anything offered in the previous two expansions. Here, players will aid Alexstrasza and Wrathion of the red and black aspects to reclaim lost lands, and wrest the black dragonflight stronghold of Neltharus from enemy forces. - Ohn'ahran Plains: The ancestral home of the green dragonflight is dominated by ancient centaur tribes who forged a bond with the aspect of nature. Some players were even able to glitch into the unused areas back in the day, but it now seems as though they'll be fully realized as part of this new expansion.

Everyone who's already in Burning Crusade must move on to Wrath of the Lich King. Originally launched in 2008, Wrath of the Lich King brought with it numerous additions that put WoW firmly on the road to being the MMORPG that it is today. By and large, Wrath of the Lich King's revival in WoW Classic will mirror the version fans remember, though there will be some changes. In terms of smaller but still highly meaningful changes, Blizzard will honor a number of the adjustments made to in-game texts and character depictions to improve sensitivity and inclusivity. "One of the things I've appreciated about this entire process is it's really been an exercise in listening to our team," says production director Patrick Dawson of the changes.

Everything Revealed at the World of Warcraft Expansion Reveal Event (Game Rant)

The future of World of Warcraft has been revealed during Blizzard's expansion reveal livestream, and there is a lot of content for players to play.

Both the ninth expansion and the next iteration of classic seem like a lot of content for World of Warcraft fans to enjoy, and in May Blizzard will be revealing the first Warcraft mobile game in an attempt to expand the Warcraft franchise even more. While World of Warcraft: Dragonflight was the main focus of the event, Blizzard did take some time to announce the next phase of the Classic experience. Along with Dracthyr, the Dragon Isles, a professions overhaul, and talent trees, Blizzard is finally updating the basic UI of World of Warcraft. For years, players have relied on downloadable add-ons to improve the 18-year-old UI, but Blizzard is finally upgrading it to a more modern feel. Many rumors believed that the new class for the expansion would be Dark Rangers, but instead, Blizzard revealed a new class and race hybrid called Dracthyr. These Dracthyr are very similar to Worgen, except instead of turning into wolves, the Dracthyr turn into humanoid dragons. Not much is known about the specific story beats, but players will be allying with the aspects once more to help them stop the rise of their ancient enemy. The majority of that proved to be false, but that did not mean that the event was short on content.

Players can also navigate the Dragon Isles through the air using Dragonriding, which seems to be somewhere between gliding and flying.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's talent trees getting a major rework (Polygon)

Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Dragonflight on Tuesday, revealing a new talent system that evokes the trees of old-school World of Warcraft.

What are some of the coolest things we have, and let’s put it in a talent tree so that players can make some choices and get those cool things back.” After nearly a decade of very rigid selection process — Holinka said you currently make “about seven choices about your character” — and no major Azerite, Artifact, or Covenant-adjacent system in Dragonflight, the talent rework is looking to be the most significant change in the expansion. While players won’t be able to put points into multiple specializations like in the Wrath of the Lich King, the new system does allow for customization and hybridization. With the new trees, players will be able to expand and customize their classes to fit their needs. Back in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard replaced the original tree-based talent system for a small group of very powerful skills players could choose from. But outside of the fancy new content, Blizzard will also be focusing on revamping older systems with Dragonflight. More specially, the much maligned talent tree will see its first major overhaul in nearly a decade.

The Biggest Features Coming with World of Warcraft: Dragonflight (Game Rant)

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, its ninth expansion, has officially been revealed and promises to shake up the formula of the 18-year-old game.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is preparing to bring World of Warcraft back to its roots and give players more customization. Another major feature of Dragonflight will be Dragonriding. Players ally themselves with the dragonflights and learn how to fly through the air like never before. Players will spend the majority of their time in Dragonflight on the new set of zones called the Dragon Isles. These islands are the ancient home of the dragonflights, and are comprised of five different zones. Players will be able to choose if their Dracthyr will join the Horde or Alliance. One of the largest features to come with Dragonflight is the class and race hybrid known as Dracthyr. It has been two expansions since World of Warcraft received a new class, and the Dracthyr seem to be taking this concept to the next level. Dragonflight is set to shake up much of the World of Warcraft formula in hopes that it can revitalize the game.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight adds new Evoker class, Dracthyr race (Polygon)

World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Dragonflight, will add its first new ranged class since the game launched 18 years ago. We spoke to Blizzard about how ...

Ultimately, much of how the Evoker will work in World of Warcraft is unclear. And so it feels like, in order to really deliver that fantasy of being a dragon in the world of Warcraft, [allowing for only one race to play the class] was a necessary step.” As far as the Preservation healing spec, Holinka said the goal is to always find a niche while still allowing them to be competitive in raids and dungeons. The Evoker class is the first ranged class Blizzard has ever added to World of Warcraft. All the other post-release classes — Death Knights, Monks, and Demon Hunters — are melee-focused. As a single class and race combo, the Evoker sacrifices the pure customization that WoW has always had for something else entirely: synergy. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will finally take players to the long-awaited Dragon Isles. Here, they’ll meet up with a recently-awakened species called the Dracthyr — dragon people who can transform into humans at will.

Activision Blizzard might not have commented on a release date for Dragonflight yesterday, but it's pretty clear we shouldn't expect the expansion to launch this year in 2022. Blizzard Entertainment revealed World of Warcraft's high-fantasy Dragonflight expansion and Wrath of the Lich King Classic last night.

Blizzard are calling this one a fine-tuning of the original that’s bringing achievements to WoW Classic, along with retro raids like Naxxramas and antediluvian dungeons like Azjol-Nerub. That's all in the midst of Microsoft acquiring the company for $69 billion (£50 billion), too. Best tell Daenerys. Apparently, as “their sacred broodlands reawaken, the dragons will call on the heroes of the Alliance and Horde to help reckon with the threats and mysteries that are beginning to surface”. Drakes are customisable and can develop to fly faster, so the hot rod scene in WoW is about to really take off. Dracthyr Evokers start the game at level 58 and have the option to specialise as ranged DPS or using their dragon superpowers to heal allies. Blizzard Entertainment revealed the latest expansion for their mega-MMORPG World of Warcraft, the high-fantasy Dragonflight, last night.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight's cinematic trailer boasts good vibes ... (Laptop Mag)

World of Warcraft Dragonflight's peaceful cinematic trailer could indicate we're moving away from overly epic villains and repetetive faction wars.

Seeing its beauty in full force is a great way to remind us of that. Introducing one big villain after the other will make it hard to grasp onto the magic of Azeroth. This is a home that the players and characters need to fight for. This is a world in which these two massive factions are at odds, and it's common for its characters (and even the players) to stand with their people with deep-rooted nationalism. That's the core of this cinematic: the dragons have returned. Other times, the story revolves around some massive foe that need the Alliance and Horde to come together. No empty promises of how some massive villain would change all of Azeroth. No inclination towards how faction wars could divide the world for the 300th time.

'World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight' expansion reveals rideable dragons (NME.com)

Blizzard has revealed details about the long-awaited 'Dragonflight' expansion for 'World Of Warcraft' alongside a cinematic trailer.

Dragonriding is “an all-new skill-based method of aerial movement that allows players to take to the skies on the back of their personal Dragon Isles Drake. Players will customise their drake as they progress through the expansion, collecting more appearance options and enabling them to fly farther and faster.” The expansion was initially confirmed last month, while earlier in April, a public source code update on the official World Of Warcraft website suggested that the expansion will be called “Dragonflight” with Base, Heroic, and Epic Expansion pre-purchases seemingly set to become available following the official reveal. Dragonflight will also introduce players to the four new and unique zones that make up the Dragon Isles – “the Waking Shores, roiling with elemental power; the vast expanse of the Ohn’ahran Plains; the frosty peaks of the Azure Span; and the majestic spires and temples of Thaldraszus.”

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is leading me down a perilous path. The ninth World of Warcraft expansion was announced yesterday without a release date, ...

It's also worth quickly reflecting on the Dragon Isles, which is the brand new setting for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. You should read this deep-dive on the expansion from Blizzard for an extensively detailed overview of the four new zones, but it's worth highlighting the promise to make "exploration a key theme" of the expansion. But right now is a time to let the imagination run wild, and when the World of Warcraft: Dragonlands beta launches (TBC) will be the venue for a little strict scrutiny. Blizzard says it is working to "find ways to provide players with more choice in shaping their character's abilities", which will come in the form of a revised Talent system that runs across two trees. It looks like an exciting new way to explore a familiar world, and that we'll be able to do it on the back of drake mounts that reportedly have "millions of possible combinations" in terms of customisation only adds to the excitement. Aside from a hero class that speaks directly to the way I liked to play World of Warcraft, before I got bored with the existing spellcasting options, there are other elements that have caught my attention too. So let's put it this way: it appears that Blizzard is returning to the aspects of WoW that the studio had long left behind – exploration, player-choice, and a wicked new class and race that will be the envy of your entire raiding party.
