A Virtual Private Network (VPN) helps you get around this obstacle. You can use it to watch on your mobile, tablet, laptop, TV, games console and more. We recommend ExpressVPN (opens in new tab) as it's reliable and comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee. Admittedly two of those were against teams in the bottom three, but the Bees' result against Chelsea shows they can compete with anyone on their day. After a run of eight league games without a victory, Brentford have now won three of the last four, scoring nine goals in the process. Moyes has made three changes from midweek, with Fabianski restored in goal, Coufal coming in for Ryan Fredericks at right-back, and Lanzini preferred to Benrahma in the three behind Michail Antonio. West Ham's win over Frank Lampard's struggling Everton last Sunday means they still have an outside chance of making the top four, but David Moyes' men can't afford any slip-ups if they're to stay in touch with the teams above them.

On the other hand, Brentford is playing for its permanence in the Premier League with high probabilities of securing it in case it continues harvesting victories. Currently, West Ham is in sixth place overall with 51 points from 15 wins, 6 draws and 10 defeats, and averages a total of 51 goals scored and 40 goals conceded, leaving them with a positive goal difference of plus 11 goals. Currently Brentford will no longer aspire to achieve any achievement in the Premier League other than staying one more season in the top flight of soccer. Their last meeting dates back to matchday 7 of the 2021-22 season where West Ham lost to Brentford at the Olympic Stadium in London. On the other hand, Brentford is in 15th place and needs to stay away from the relegation zone. On the other side of the coin, Brentford is in 14th position in the Premier League with 33 points from 9 wins, 6 draws and 16 defeats in the current campaign. Ivan Toney (Brentford) header from the centre of the box is blocked. Also, in the last game he scored an important brace to get the three points, so he will be the player to follow for this game. It has a capacity of 17,250 spectators and is used for both soccer and rugby matches. At the moment he has played 1,789 minutes with West Ham, he has appeared 20 times in the starting lineup and has scored 3 times, he also has one assist so far this season. A decent result for the team that plays for the first time in the Premier League. Their D.T managed to build a great game, making the big teams fall to this Premier debutant like last game when Brentford defeated Chelsea 4-1 at Stamford Bridge. West Ham have so far continued to surprise the Premier League with the great pace they have had.

Match report for Brentford vs West Ham United on 10 Apr 22 (Brentford FC)

Brentford completed a Premier League double over West Ham United and made it four wins in their last five matches with a 2-0 victory on a sunny spring ...

Nørgaard won the aerial challenge to push West Ham in and Wissa found Janelt. There was not room for a shot, but Janelt crossed for Mbeumo and he volleyed over from close range. That was West Ham’s last chance, and The Bees had the win. Declan Rice headed a corner wide for the visitors, but they were looking beaten, and Brentford continued to create openings. But Brentford had the upper hand as the interval approached and they had a couple of sights of goal late in the half. An Eriksen free kick was then flicked on by West Ham defender Vladimír Coufal at the near post and a corner was conceded as the ball landed on the roof of the net. Raya had to gather a cross or two but Pinnock and Zanka dealt with anything that came through the middle while Henry and Ajer the threat out wide. Mbeumo met another Henry cross soon after, but could only head straight at Łukasz Fabiański. He got on to a first time pass from Toney soon after and smashed in a shot that Fabiański had to push around the post. The effort from Eriksen was low but comfortable for Fabiański. Zanka strode out of defence to set up another chance soon after. Mbeumo scored just after half time and ended a swift counter-attack with a volleyed cross that Toney headed in for the second. Brentford were keener to get on the front foot when they had the ball while the visitors were patient with their possession, content to play in their own half. The first eventually enabled Kristoffer Ajer to get a shot away from 15 yards, which was blocked. Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney set up goals for each other as The Bees picked up three points against their East London opponents.

Their 4-1 win over the European champions at Stamford Bridge last weekend has surely put paid to the doubters, and they would do well to leave Brentford out of their thinking when it comes to relegation next season too. "In January and February we struggled a bit and that is where you need to be really strong and keep believing in what you are doing. With Eriksen inspiring and the likes of Toney and Vitaly Janelt earning plaudits from all quarters, this is a side which should never have been expected to go on a slide dangerous enough for them to slip into the bottom three.

He was one of three changes to the team that earned a 1-1 draw at home to Lyon on Thursday in the Europa League quarter-final first leg, chosen ahead of former Brentford striker Saïd Benrahma, who dropped to the bench. Mercifully for the home support, Mbeumo punctured events with a timely opener two minutes into the second half. Doubts now exist over Zouma’s availability for the crucial trip to the Grand Stade de Lyon. Eriksen was orchestrating Brentford’s initial probing as they aimed to add West Ham to both Chelsea and Arsenal on their London hit list. David Moyes also has to contend with an injury to Kurt Zouma, ahead of their quarter-final second leg at Lyon on Thursday. A maiden season in the top tier was almost guaranteed in the seismic, generation-spanning, memorable 4-1 win at Chelsea last weekend.

"This was the first game in the Premier League where we controlled it from the first minute to the 90th, winning 2-0 against a very good side in West Ham who are fighting for the top four and the Europa League is very pleasing." Frank's side lost seven games out of eight before turning the tide with a 3-1 win at Norwich City in early March and their was a euphoric mood around the stadium as the players went over to the fans behind the goal to celebrate. Brentford's lead was rarely threatened by a lethargic West Ham side and they comfortably saw out the win to climb to 13th in the table on 36 points, 12 clear of the relegation zone.

No Jansson, no problem for Frank's maturing Brentford (The Athletic)

Thomas Frank's side could have crumbled without key defender Pontus Jansson - instead, they humbled West Ham to move ever closer to safety.

So when it emerged ahead of kick-off that the centre-back would miss the match, it was hard to imagine how they would adapt and cope without him. Thomas Frank had to constantly change his line-up and plug gaps — yet throughout that difficult period, he could always rely on Pontus Jansson. Before I even took the penalty, I knew it was 1-1 - I was that confident and that excited to get the chance to score. “To be honest, against Burnley, I wasn’t the best, but then I scored two goals and everyone thought I’d done unbelievably well. I get the ball, go away and wait for everyone to get in their place. I didn’t see it as ‘Well, if I miss this then it could be game over.’ I knew it was a chance to get us going. “You have to wait for the last step. I don’t look at the ball, I just keep my eyes on the keeper.

Frank's side have won four of their last five league fixtures, and were unlucky not to take at least a point from their trip to Leicester three weeks ago. On another side note, all of his Premier League goals have come against sides beginning with "W" - Frank will be hoping he continues that trend when the Bees head to Vicarage Road on Saturday. One man who would have been relieved as anyone, was Bryan Mbeumo. It has been a difficult time for the young Frenchman, with his last goal prior to yesterday coming from the penalty spot against Watford on December 10. Thankfully for Frank, that was not the case as Brentford turned the game on its head in a flash. Brentford started the first half like a house on a fire and were unlucky not to be rewarded for their superb start. The Bees are now 13th in the table and can slowly prepare for another season of Premier League football.
