Why Hundreds of New York City Prosecutors Are Leaving Their Jobs (The New York Times)

New burdens, low pay and pandemic malaise prompted the resignations of a fifth of the legal work force in Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn.

In the past year, the Manhattan and Brooklyn district attorneys, who have about 500 prosecutors each, lost almost a fifth of that work force, a sharp increase from attrition averages before 2020. “They just simply can’t do it anymore,” Darcel Clark, the Bronx district attorney, said in a Friday interview. The Queens office told the New York City Council that it was on track this year to more than double last year’s resignations.

'I Gave Birth To Twins, 8 Weeks Later We Made a Heartbreaking ... (Newsweek)

Nothing unusual happened during pregnancy and the birth was great. The twins were mini-mes.

I know that isn't possible for Amelia so my wish is for us to figure out the right living arrangements for her. As the twins got older, we thought we were somewhat out of the woods, but all of a sudden, Abby started having seizures when she was 18. We had arranged with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for her to get a wish to go Disneyland, they even gave us a limo and a hotel. Now the twins are 22 and thankfully, Abby's seizures are controlled, but we're still struggling to find control for Amelia. Amelia is working at the school she graduated from in 2021; they hired her to work there three days a week greeting people at the door and doing office chores. I was asked if I wanted to know the sex of the twins, and I told them to write it down on a piece of paper, but I was adamant that the twins were boys. So my husband and I really pushed for brain surgery because she was deteriorating so much. Amelia was admitted to hospital on the spot and we waited for 24 hours until they could get a doctor who could tell us what the disease was. After waiting for 24 hours to see a neurologist, the doctor's parting remarks when we asked what we should do, was to "pray for a miracle." They weren't obvious seizures but we took her to the doctor's office and saw a pediatrician who was very proactive. At about two weeks of age, Amelia started exhibiting a series of jerks where her hands and feet would come up at the same time. There was nothing particularly unusual about my pregnancy, and when I had my scheduled cesarean section, the girls came out looking just like me. I found out I was having twins at around 16 and a half weeks pregnant.

Scientists at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams hope to illuminate the makings of atomic nuclei and how the universe formed, while propelling innovation ...

His work to engage middle- and high-school students in research with professional scientists and expand opportunities for underrepresented groups in nuclear physics is helping lay the foundation for the science that will be done at FRIB. And on the nuclear security front, FRIB scientists will be able to study rare isotopes to further their understanding of nuclear reactions without the need for weapons testing. Plant scientists will be able to explore the effects of rare isotopes on mushroom growth, which could lead to discoveries in soil health and applications for agriculture. Scientists will be able to capture the jumble of fragments after each particle collision for vast potential uses, including experiments and research in medicine, material science and environmental science. All students at MSU will have an incredible opportunity to be exposed to the science underway at FRIB. This demands a powerful beam, made up of charged particles, which causes atoms to speed up and collide.

It holds the power to be a great source of economic development, with new investment from complementary industries and ancillary businesses. The difference is the power of the beam. The emerging field of theranostics — diagnostics and therapy combined — uses radioactive isotopes in hunting down malignant cells. While no one can predict which area of science will generate the next breakthrough, the research that will be conducted at FRIB is a priority for the nation’s nuclear science community. FRIB is capable of producing 80% of the isotopes thought to exist in the universe. That technology, the world’s most powerful heavy-ion accelerator, will be fully operational in spring 2022.

NHI Provides Business Update (Digital Journal)

MURFREESBORO, TN / ACCESSWIRE / April 4, 2022 / National Health Investors, Inc. (NYSE:NHI) today provided a business update regarding recent portfolio.

In March 2022, NHI completed the disposition of one assisted living community in Tennessee for approximately $8.6 million in gross proceeds. Copies of these filings are available at no cost on the SEC’s web site at https://www.sec.gov or on NHI’s web site at https://www.nhireit.com. NHI held a security deposit of $8.8 million that was applied to outstanding rent and recognized in rental income in the first quarter of 2022. NHI agreed to defer approximately $1.9 million in March rent for five operators. Many of these factors are beyond the control of the Company and its management. Incorporated in 1991, National Health Investors, Inc. (NYSE: NHI) is a real estate investment trust specializing in sale-leaseback, joint-venture, mortgage and mezzanine financing of need-driven and discretionary senior housing and medical investments. Additionally, NHI is in the process of disposing of five underperforming Bickford properties for estimated gross proceeds of approximately $38.0 million and expects that these will be largely completed in the second quarter of 2022. The collection rate excludes the application of the $8.8 million security deposit discussed previously. The sale of these properties will not impact the base rent due under the restructured master leases. As previously announced and effective April 1, 2022 NHI and Bickford Senior Living (“Bickford”) restructured master leases on the Bickford portfolio whereby Bickford agrees to pay annual cash rent of $28 million. Our decision to pivot from the traditional triple-net lease model to an operating partnership is a milestone moment for the Company and one we would only contemplate with trusted and experienced partners like Merrill Gardens and Discovery,” said Eric Mendelsohn, President and CEO of NHI. NHI has entered into a settlement agreement (the “Settlement Agreement”) for the previously disclosed lawsuit styled National Health Investors, Inc. et al v.

AT2 cells are known to become abnormal in COPD and other lung diseases, and the researchers found evidence that defects in RASCs might be an upstream cause of those abnormalities. They soon recognized that RASCs, which don’t exist in mouse lungs, are “secretory” cells that reside near alveoli and produce proteins needed for the fluid lining of the airway. In addition, they uncovered evidence that cigarette smoking and COPD can disrupt the regenerative functions of RASCs—hinting that correcting this disruption could be a good way to treat COPD.

National Health Investors (NYSE: NHI) has cleared a hurdle in its effort to transform its senior housing portfolio into a “jewel box” and reached a new.

NHI also applied a security deposit of $8.8 million for the portfolio to outstanding rent. The move is intended to structure the Discovery Village portfolio into smaller, more manageable groups as the operator grows and further defines its experiential living concept. With its JV with NHI, Discovery is gaining footholds in Arkansas, New Jersey and Ohio. The company also agreed to abate about $1.7 million in rent, including approximately $1.5 million for Bickford Senior Living. Discovery is rebranding the communities it’s taking on to fit under the umbrella of several of its sub-brands. All told, the company collected 78.4% of the contractual cash it was due for the month.

AT&T Is Now Trading on an Ex Basis with Warner Bros Discovery ... (Barchart.com)

As of April 4, AT&T stock is now trading on a two-way basis - both with and without the spin-off merger company Warner Bros Discover.

If you sell the stock under the T symbol, you give up both your AT&T shares and the right to receive the new Warner Bros Discovery company spinoff. On the record date, each shareholder of AT&T will be entitled to receive 0.24 shares of WBD for every share of AT&T they own. By the way, one important point to be made here is the new dividend yield for AT&T shareholders. So, therefore, 0.71 x $25.50 (the WBDWV price) equals $18.105. That is equal to the T WD price, although the half-cent difference is likely due to arbitrage opportunities in the market. All of this was detailed in a special 8-K filing on March 30 by AT&T. as well as an announcement on March 25 that the record date is April 5. In addition, the price of WBDWV was $25.50. This makes sense since the AT&T shareholders will receive 71.0% of the WBD shares.
