Rangnick will need to find a way to cope with this as Matic can't play every game. 22nd min: Shaw lifts the ball into the area, deep from the left, and it finds Pogba just past the penalty spot. 28th min: The best chance of the game so far falls to Fernandes. Fofana gives it away to Fred and is caught out of position, as Fernandes finds himself clean through on goal. Harvey Barnes has had a couple of shots from outside the area in quick succession, but neither looked likely to trouble De Gea's goal. As he approached midfield, he drove the ball out to Pogba on the right hand side. He looks to find Dewsbury-Hall in the area, but United had bodies back and Varane cut it out. De Gea gets something on it, but it's too weak, and it nestles in the back of the net. Fred gets on the end of the loose ball and, on the edge of the area, passed centrally to Fernandes. Fernandes fires low, to the 'keeper's right. The Leicester corner is headed clear and United look to be on the counter. Fofana rises well and heads the ball towards the corner, but De Gea impressively manages to get a hand to it and palm the ball away. De Gea is out and Iheanacho, from close to goal and a very tight angle, tries to lift the ball over the 'keeper. It's a strange choice of finish and never looked like ending in a goal. The ball is fired into Iheanacho on the edge of the area. It almost feels like Leicester are at home and United are the visitors.

After securing 5th place two years in a row and an FA Cup in the previous campaign, the club are now battling to stay in the top half.

A deserved draw, but it still feels like two points dropped.

As much as I want it to be otherwise, a draw was probably a fair result. Schmeichel cleared the ball directly to Fred in the United midfield. Both sides had opportunities to win it in five minutes of time added on but neither could capitalise on them. The Foxes thought they’d retaken the goal on 80’. Iheanacho somehow rode challenges from both Maguire and Varane on the edge of the area. Dewsbury-Hall did incredibly well to nick the ball off of Fernandes and find Madders on the left wing. He looked up and curled in an inch-perfect cross to find Iheanacho at the back post.

Manchester United's final eight Premier League fixtures compared to ... (Manchester Evening News)

With just eight games left in the season, Manchester United have it all to do if they're to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Given that advantage, United will have to go to north London and win if they’re to have any chance of qualifying for the Champions League. Anything less, and they can likely kiss goodbye to their hopes once and for all. Should United still have something to play for, they certainly won’t have things easy in south London. One thing’s for certain though, fans will be relieved to see the back of this season. After that 5-0 thrashing earlier in the season, United fans would perhaps be forgiven for not relishing a trip to Anfield. If there’s a glimmer of hope for United, though, it’s that Jurgen Klopp’s side will head into the game off the back of meetings with Manchester City in the league and FA Cup. If they don’t go Liverpool’s way, United will hope to take advantage of a wounded beast. Norwich find themselves stuck to the bottom of the table and look destined for a return to the Championship. Even with United’s indifferent form, this has to be a victory at Old Trafford. Anything less would simply be an embarrassment. Despite their struggles, Everton have been formidable at home recently and they may well fancy their chances against a misfiring United. Out of all of their remaining games, this surely has to be the one where United would almost guarantee themselves three points. United were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday, and in truth it could have been much worse for the hosts.

Pogba called Man United's draw vs Leicester and highlighted ... (Manchester Evening News)

Paul Pogba did multiple interviews during the international break and his comments weren't well-received at Man United.

Pogba labelling the season 'dead' was no help to anyone and it was the wrong thing to say at that moment. Paul Pogba's performances for France in the summer were a reminder that he's one of the best midfielders in the world on his day, but those days have been few and far between at Old Trafford. He was unable to influence the game on Saturday. Pogba was not afraid to answer questions about United across the international break and his comments actually foreshadowed the Leicester draw. United's performance against Leicester suggests that Pogba's 'dead' assessment of the season is likely to be shared in the dressing room. The Leicester result was not surprising but it was the manner of the performance that was most concerning. United stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Leicester at Old Trafford at the weekend and their hopes of finishing in the top four now seem all but gone. United returned to action against Leicester at the weekend and they couldn't afford to drop points.

Erik ten Hag is Man United's favoured pick to take over in the summer and how they recruit is likely to be different from previous seasons.

I do not think it is to do with mindset, it is to do with the DNA of players. "It is as it is and it is difficult to change. So whenever there was body contact we were too often second best today and that is something we have to get better at for the rest of this season, but even more so for next season." "It has to be a bit in the DNA of a player, to be honest. "I never doubt or question the character of players and so far, from what I have seen in the last couple of weeks and months, I don’t think we have a lack of character but what was obvious in some parts of the game today is that we were second best with regards to physicality, it was about one-on-one duels. Whenever the new head coach is clear, it has to be how does he want to play and what kind of players do we need for that?
