Japan forward Takuma Asano hit a brace on April 2 as Bochum edged past Hoffenheim 2-1 away in the German Bundesliga.

"I'm training and playing in matches, picturing what I can do if given a chance." I want to go after it, of course," said Ito, a 22-year-old who has earned a regular spot in his first Bundesliga season. He hit a brace for Bochum in a 2-1 away win at Hoffenheim, taking his season's tally to three goals.

Then, in the international break, he played two games for Norway and scored three goals, so that should be a great sign for Dortmund. On the other hand, RB Leipzig will be missing Peter Gulacsi, their first-choice keeper, and Lukas Klostermann is a doubt, but they should be fielding Tyler Adams after he played two games for the USMNT in the international break. RB Leipzig is also fairly poor away from home, with just four wins in 13 away games this season, and a total of five losses. Erling Haaland should finally be fit to play the entire 90 minutes for BVB, as he was slow to return from the injury that kept him sidelined for a part of January and all of February. He played three games for Borussia Dortmund in March but did not score in one of them and never played the full game. They have been great, including a 2-1 victory at their Red Bull Arena against the team they are playing against this weekend, but also very bad, including a 2-0 loss at home against relegation side Arminia Bielefeld in December. Yet, they are entering this match in very good form, having last lost at the start of February against league leaders Bayern Munich, away from home. After that, they are also six games unbeaten with two draws, but two of their victories were 6-1 away from their Red Bull Arena. Thus, they will look to continue their unbeaten streak and secure their 19th win in this edition of the Bundesliga, 12th at home.

Borussia Dortmund vs. RB Leipzig Bundesliga Odds, Picks ... (The Action Network)

Anthony Dabbundo gives his detailed thoughts, plus his top pick, for Saturday's Bundesliga showdown between Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

The Black and Yellows, who are due for some regression, are just fifth in box entries and 16th in crosses completed into the penalty area. The fourth and most recent game was a 1-1 draw with Köln in which Dortmund produced nine shots. The club did total 2.0 expected goals against Arminia Bieleleld, which happens to be the worst team in the German top flight by xG this season. A hot finish could be enough for them to really challenge the Bavarians for the league title, as there are seven matches to go and they trail by just six points. That road starts with a difficult match against the league’s second-best team in Leipzig, based on underlying metrics. The Red Bulls have only lost once in 2022, which came in a 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich.

Lucas Alario and Karim Bellarabi lead Leverkusen past Hertha Berlin (Bundesliga.com - official website)

Bayer Leverkusen have strengthened their grip on third place after goals from Lucas Alario and Karim Bellarabi saw them past Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Darida then could have done better after pouncing on some hesitation in the home defence, and Leverkusen sent on fit-again top goalscorer Patrik Schick as part of a triple change designed to lift the team. Linus Gechter replaced Suat Serdar at the break as Hertha plotted a comeback, and their captain Dedryck Boyata came close to scrambling home from a free-kick six minutes after the restart. Mittelstädt hoisted a cross to the back post, and Vladimir Darida was on hand to fire a volley into the ground and into the far corner. As the home team gradually took control, Hertha goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow was forced off through injury and replaced by Marcel Lotka. The substitute was making only his fourth appearance in the Bundesliga, and he had to throw himself to his right to push away a fierce attempt from Bellarabi on 21 minutes. Czech midfielder Darida also had a late header on target for Hertha, but they drop to second bottom after a sixth loss in seven matches. All of them have come in 2022.

Thomas Muller, for instance, has seven goals and an incredible 19 assists in 27 games in the Bundesliga this season. After a few disappointing seasons, Reus and his team are back in the title race and while Haaland has been scoring the most, he has been supported by Reus. The German winger bagged nine goals in 22 appearances, actually topping his goalscoring tally from last season with 10 games less. He also has 11 assists, according to Transfermark, which would put him second in the league, just behind Thomas Muller. If BVB manages to overturn the lead Bayern Munich currently has, Reus would be the frontrunner for this award. Also, a total of four teams are fighting for the coveted fourth spot, including surprise additions in Union Berlin and SC Freiburg. With an exciting season come incredible players, and the Bundesliga has had no shortage of them. The German now-veteran, who has been with Borussia Dortmund since 2011, is far from his best days but has given us a flashback at times to when he was dominating the Bundesliga. A league that is usually dominated by Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga was known for knowing the champion even before the season.

Thus far, Nagelsmann is on course to lead his new side to a league title in the next few weeks, with Bayern sitting pretty at the top of the league table. The situation leaves Ajax’s Erik ten Hag and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as the standout contenders for the United job ahead of the new campaign, and we cannot possibly complain about those options. Man United are currently led by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis, with the German given the manager job until the summer.

Mukiele was the first to take advantage of the extra space in the 62nd. In the writer's mind, there was absolutely a "lid" on this match from this point on. Zero BVB marking to behold as the ball passed from Olmo to Laimer to Nkunku, then back to Olmo again on a centralized attack. A long ball for Reus in the 48th was promising. The Saxons didn't really have much of a discernible shape at all in the opening minutes of the second 45. Guerreiro, Reus, and Bellingham tried to work through on the left in the 36th. From speculating about which country estates the man with a name straight out of Downton Abbey had was responsible for to getting the chance to hear German broadcasters butcher his name throughout the telecast, everyone joined in on the delightful diversion.
