The laser pointers, clearly coming from Senegal fans and concentrated mostly on Egypt players and coaches, were present throughout the 90 minutes of play, and even before the kickoff. It's impossible to truly know how much the laser pointing affected the Egyptian players, but game context and analysis gives a clearer picture. It's more likely that, if the lasers did affect the players, it would've affected them during the penalty shootout. Not just Salah, but any Egyptian player who was on the ball, or talking to the referee. As was the case just six weeks earlier in the AFCON title match, Senegal came out on top.
