U.S. driver Colton Herta to have F1 tests with McLaren (ESPN)

American driver Colton Herta, who was linked with Andretti's potential Formula One entry, will test with McLaren this year.

Colton Herta will enjoy his first chance to sample a Formula 1 car this year with McLaren after the team announced he would complete a test programme.

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown hinted last month that a current IndyCar driver was in line for some F1 testing this year. “The opportunity for Herta comes with the new Formula 1 sporting regulations, which enable teams to now test one-year-old cars, under the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) provision. "McLaren Racing confirmed today that current IndyCar driver Colton Herta from the USA will test for the McLaren F1 Team as part of its 2021 MCL35M car testing programme in 2022,” the statement reads.
